Did a Few Things…

Ah, completed a few of my online lessons. I have a lot of catch up to do to complete the courses by March 25.

I used Painter to do a digital watercolor that I posted in My Art. I had difficulty uploading it. MSN crashed several times. I hate it when it does that. Alex says that MSN is the devil, he will not load the program on his computer.

He uses ThinBrowser, skipping Internet Explorer even. He is a geek… wants to learn programming so he can take over things. I cannot afford the programs though. He knows HTML and can build web pages from scratch. Alex has been using computers since he was three. The kid knows all sorts of things about the machines. Sometimes he fixes my problems, though I sometimes fix his too. He is a smart kid.

I have a lot to do tomorrow so I may not post to my blog until late evening. I have to take Mom to her neurologist in the morning. In the afternoon I have to take her to the hospital for the MRA. I am taking a book. Hopefully I will make some progress on my reading. I am going to miss being here.

Everyone have an excellent Thursday!

Smiles,

Jo Ann

  1. Joann,What types of programming does he want to learn? Programming is how I make my living and I\’m always only too happy to give a kid a leg up who\’s interested in programming. I can send him whatever he wants in the way of development tools [if I have it, that is]

  2. Just wanted t stop by and thatnk you for all your well-wishes….I will be moving tomorrow so c\’mon by! 😉

  3. Hi Searcher, he just wants to learn about all of it. I am not sure where he should start. I would guess you would know what was appropriate for a beginner better than I would. I think Visual Basic might be a good start, but I really am not qualified to have an opinion on the subject. I do know that that is where my ex began when I bought the programs for him years ago. He became a very successful programmer due to my investment, but alas I reap none of the benefits. Thanks for dropping in Melissa. I am glad you are feeling well enough to be up and at the computer. I will be there for the party.Smiles,Jo Ann

  4. I think that would be great, but as I said I cannot afford to buy it right now. I am linking my email address on this reply if you would like to take this discussion private. Something I wondered does the computer he works on have to be a server? We just have XP Professional Service Pack 2 on our machines and his is an older Pentium 4 1.5ghtz? processor. He has 512RAM and probably 30gig of hard-drive space. If that is not adequate he can always use my machine. It is newer and has lots of bells and whistles. Thanks for showing an interest in him, he said if he had the tools that he would use them instead of playing games so much. He is a hard-core gamer. I think programming might be great for his intellectual development. He is pretty good with languages so he should pick it up fairly quickly. He is going to complete high school with two years Spanish and two years French. The only thing is that he does not much enjoy math.He just woke up sick to his stomach and may have to stay home from school.
