365 Creativity Project-Day 267

Journal entry:

Journal 10-2-20120001

The poem today was prompted by Carry On Tuesday. I hope you will visit the site if you need something to jump start your muse.

Fulfilling Expectations

My wishful thinking
Assumes that I can handle
All the multitude
Of tasks that I hope to do,
But the hours are limited.

Only twenty four
Sixty minute hours exist
In which to pack all
The actions I must commit
To resolve problems each day.

I am no gifted
Human being who can stretch
The minutes to hold
More than just sixty seconds
Like are given everyone.

I prioritize
The work I must accomplish
So most important
Things are completed in time
And then I attempt some more.

Making everything
Fit within the confines of
My days is challenge
Enough to keep me busy,
All without wishful thinking.

I am grateful:

1.   I was not sick today, although I felt a little strange early in the day.
2.   There was leftover pizza to eat for lunch and supper.
3.   I learned a lot about laying out the page in the Chapel Hill News and Views.
4.   I am getting quicker with breaking down and setting up my computer.
5.   Alex and I chatted on Facebook.

I had an extremely full day. I hope your Tuesday was very productive. If you have not already done so, please take time to explore your creativity now. You no doubt have the ability, just exercise it.

I suggest as a prompt that you write about how the internet has changed your life. You could focus on the benefits, or you might write about what it has cost you. Maybe you have some other idea, just write. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

I really had to hurry this entry, but I hope it was enjoyable. If you liked what you found here you might want to subscribe to Chronicles. I love reading your remarks, so if you have thoughts, suggestions, or criticism, please leave a comment.

Always,
Jo Ann

Conservation

If we do not take
Care of our environment
It will not take care
Of us and those who follow
In years we leave behind us.

The Earth is not ours
To abuse, but to nurture
With our gentle care;
God gave us our dominion,
Yet He meant us to be kind.

The many creatures
Depend upon us to keep
Them completely safe
From decimation unleashed
By those with little respect.

It matters what we
Do and how we continue
In relationship
With nature’s diverse bounty,
We must save all that we can.

We thrive when the Earth
Grows abundantly stronger
Under our careful
Tending and we must keep on
Giving our best to our world.

I am grateful:

1.   I woke up very well rested this morning.
2.   I was able to straighten out the medication snafu at the pharmacy.
3.   I took Mom for her blood work today.
4.   We had pizza from Papa John’s for supper.
5.   It rained all night and most of the day.

I enjoyed my Monday and I hope you did as well. Take a few minutes to exercise your creativity before you close the books on this day. You have the talent to accomplish anything you desire, if you will only believe in yourself and use your gifts. I have faith in you because if I can do this creativity project you can surely do something similar.

As a prompt, write about conservation. You could write from the view of a creature, or a place, or as an environmentalist. The choice is yours. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

I hope you enjoyed the time you spent here, if so, you might want to subscribe to Chronicles. Please leave a comment if you have thoughts, suggestions, or criticism. I am anxious to read your comments.

Today I wrote a poem instead of a journal entry…

Journal 9-30-20120001

The following poem was prompted by The Sunday Whirl. The words found there are in italics. You might want to visit the site and see what it inspires in you.

Persistent Supplication

The tenderness of
Breathing holy prayers is a
Grand weapon against
Ambivalence which empties
Fear like water down a drain.

The Enemy flaps
His ebon wings and
scurries
Away dazed by the
Continual sweet
incense
Of petitions lifted high.

God stretches His hand
Out to cover those who call
On His holiness
Protecting them from evil
And sparing them from great harm.

Much depends upon
The constant prayer of gentle
Hearts turned to Jesus,
He works wondrous miracles
For those who seek His kindness.

Raise abundant prayers
To the Lord who can fulfill
Your every request
For He delights in making
All your fondest dreams come true.

In Doubt

I am
Productive in
So many ways and yet
I often feel I do not do
Enough because I cannot do all things
I want to do for everyone
Who depends upon me
To do my work
Daily

Noble Hope

Hope is
The sweetest dog
I have ever yet known
She is my constant companion
I would take her everywhere, but dogs are
Not allowed some places I go
I would be comforted
By her presence
My Hope

My Hope…

I am grateful:

1.   I woke up early.
2.   Mom felt well, but wanted to stay home.
3.   My Whopper was delicious.
4.   Wal-Mart had baby food for Penny.
5.   The medicine I got will complete the two weeks I make on Sunday.

It has been a long day for me because I got up so early. I hope you have had a wonderful Friday. If you feel you can, create something now. It does not have to be a large thing, just original. You have the talent to make great things. I have faith in your abilities and you should too.

As a prompt, write about a pet you love. Maybe you don’t currently have a pet, but surely you have had one at some time. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Making An Effort

You entice me to
Do things I normally would
Never try to do
And it gives me a chance to
Savor new experience.

I am more challenged
Than I have been in some time,
But I cannot help
Being afraid that I may
Ultimately disappoint.

I attempt my best
Hoping I do not come up
Lacking in your eyes,
I have not done things like this
In such a very long time.

Please do not give up
On me while I am trying
To accomplish all
The things you have set before
Me as well as I may do.

I am grateful:

1.   I ate lunch before going to Norma and Richard’s house.
2.   I learned a lot today (I think).
3.   I found the misplaced keys at Subway.
4.   The sandwich from Subway was delicious.
5.   I am going to finish this entry before midnight despite a very late start.

I hope your Thursday exceeded your expectations. If you have not already completed something creative during your day, I urge you to do it now. There is no time like the present to express your individuality.

Today’s poem was prompted by Poetic Asides. If you need inspiration please visit the site.

Making Way

No trespassing here,
There should be signs posted round
Edges of my heart,
I need no uninvited
Guests claiming the real estate.

There are still lodgers
I cannot seem to evict
In comfy houses
That I dare not tear down for
Risk of permanent damage.

Their days are numbered,
I have issued fair notice
They must quickly leave
Or face the consequences
Of unlawful residence.

I am sweeping clean
The premises and making
Room for visitors
Who might eventually
Become treasured occupants.

No trespassing here,
You lovers of my long past.
Be gone elsewhere now
For I am hoping I will
Soon have a new interest.

I am grateful:

1.   I woke up fairly early today even though I was up until 4:00 chatting with Alex.
2.   Mom went out with Linda and enjoyed her lunch.
3.   When the iron fell it did not hit my foot or one of the dogs.
4.   Reba’s procedure went well.
5.   My shower was hot and refreshing.

My day was busy and I am sure yours was, but before you consign this Wednesday to history I hope you will express your creativity. You have so much to share with the world if you only make the effort. I know inspiration can be elusive, but even so you are capable of creating something wonderful.

As a prompt, write about something that has caused you difficulty this week. Build it into a poem, story, or journal entry. If you are a visual artist, make an image that symbolizes difficulty. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Thank you for spending a bit of your time with me today. I hope you found this entry worthwhile. If so, you might consider following Chronicles. I will continue trying to entertain you. Do you have thoughts, suggestions, or criticism? Please leave a comment.

No Qualification

I am a writer,
Artist, and photographer,
Or at least I call
Myself by these lofty names,
Do I really qualify?

Sometimes I struggle
With my creativity,
It is not easy
To make new things from nothing,
Image, words resist capture.

I endlessly toil
To produce something worthwhile,
Never quite knowing
Whether I will reach other
Hearts and minds through my crafting.

I am not perfect,
My work is so incomplete,
But I continue
Trying to bring my vision
Life for other’s enjoyment.

I may not achieve
Fame and fortune in my life,
But I hope I touch
Someone’s heart and soul making
A difference in their life.

4.   Mom was able to go in Wal-Mart with me today.
5.   I managed to write something even though I felt less than inspired.

Another Saturday fades away… I hope you spent your time with those you love. If you are not too busy, and even if you are, take a few moments to engage your creativity. I promise you will not be sorry you used your imagination. It will energize you and perhaps surprise you. You have great resources inside, if you will only tap into them.

As a prompt, write about how you face the difficulty of creating. You may feel inadequate to perform the task, or feel your work is not significant. Explore those feelings if you are so inclined. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Acquiring Understanding

Learning
Many new things
Is very challenging,
But it is also quite worthwhile.
I am pleased to accumulate knowledge
Though it is somewhat difficult,
I am quite fortunate
To have mentors,

The poem that follows answers the prompt at Poetic Asides. If you are in need of inspiration you should visit that site.

Most Difficult

I was not prepared
To have it go horribly
Wrong, but had no choice
In the course of the events,
God was in complete control.

Pregnancies are by
Nature somewhat uncertain,
Twins even more so,
But complications arose
And there were difficulties.

At times I believed
Everything would be okay,
But I knew the risks
In Twin to Twin Transfusion
Syndrome were very severe.

When one precious twin
Died I was devastated,
Then I had to make
The choice of whether I would
Continue carrying one.

I was told she would
Most probably die also
Or be terribly
Handicapped, so I chose to
Let her go with heavy heart.

Sometimes I still blame
Myself for being selfish,
But I think it was
For the best even though it
Was the hardest choice ever.

Journal entry:

Journal 9-18-20120001

The following poem was partially inspired by the prompt at Carry On Tuesday. You might enjoy visiting that site if you are in need of inspiration.

Passages

A little while, and
We will have grown much older;
A little while, and
We will have become bolder;
For time pushes us forward.

We go on toward
The finish, full of courage
And tenacity;
Our days we do not number
For their count seems limitless.

Only after time
Has passed into the future
Do we realize
There is just a little while
To accomplish all our goals.

We enter each hour
Hoping to find completion
Within its confines,
But the key is not hidden
In the outer dimensions.

A little while, and
We will discover ourselves;
A little while, and
We will make our peace with God;
Only He fulfills our days.

More Cabbage Patch Kids…

I am grateful:

1.   Mom woke me when I lay back down a few minutes this morning.
2.   I had unloaded the truck last night.
3.   We arrived early for our appointment.
4.   There was nothing serious wrong with the Explorer.
5.   Sam’s Club had the two books I wanted.

This is proving to be a long day for me because I was up so early. I hope your Tuesday has been profitable. Take time out of your busyness to work creatively. It will add value to your day and give you a deeper sense of accomplishment. Every second you spend using your imagination enriches the world.

As a prompt write about the passage of time. Explore the moments of your day, or the passage of ages. Whatever suits your fancy. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Thank you so much for spending time reading my blog. I hope you found it enjoyable. If so, you might consider following Chronicles. I know you may have thoughts, suggestions, or criticism to share, so I urge you to leave a comment. Each one is precious to me.
