I wrote the following poem in the deep darkness of the early morning hours. There is an element of crisis to it…

In Doubt

Am I so wholly
Unpleasing to God that He
Would fully desert
Those for whom I so dearly
Care, leaving them to suffer?

So it seems to me,
For I have constantly prayed
Entreating the Lord
To reach down in His mercy
And alleviate their pain,

But with no result.
I am bereft; believing,
Praying, and hoping
Has worked no good on their part,
They are in great agony.

I am now beset
With undeniable doubt,
I am not given
The strength of faith that Job had;
I am so weakling a worm.

Yet still I pray God
Even should He find it just
To forsake my cause
That He would show unceasing
Love and tenderness to them.

This was a Facebook status inspired by the above picture and divided into lines to make a poem…

In Life’s Garden

People are beautiful
And delicate like Summer roses.
They need careful tending
And abundant love to
Reach their glorious potential.
No matter their appearance
People are worthy of respect.
Nurture every person
Who touches your life
And show your gratitude
For the blessings they impart.
Like the roses, people only
Bloom for a little while
And then they fade away.
You are only left with
Memories of their splendor.
So cherish your moments with
Others and share your
Feelings of love.

Ideal Communication

Words like
Rushing waters
Flow from the center of
My heart, the middle of my mind,
Bringing my meaning to the surface of
The universal consciousness.
I share my vision
With readers of
My thoughts.

As a prompt, write about how communication impacts the world. You might do this on a personal level or on a more societal level. If you use this prompt, please share your work by leaving a link in the comments below.

Never Cursed With Boredom

Boredom is something
For which I have no time, my
Days are over full
Of things I must accomplish,
Things I desire to finish.

There are always things
Calling on my time, needing
My rapt attention,
I can easily create
Activities to complete.

I love to learn so
There are always books to read,
Or articles to
Peruse in order to find
And collect information.

My role as my Mom’s
Caregiver fills up the hours
With tasks I must do,
There is never an end to
Housework, yard work, and laundry.

Neither laziness
Nor stupidity are mine
To claim as reason
For giving time to boredom,
I am forever busy.

Technical Realization

I want a tablet,
But I have been waiting for
More memory to
Be put on the devices,
I like to have lots of space.

Someone explained it,
The computer companies
Are limiting how
Much memory devices
Have so computers still sell.

A revolution
Coming to technology
I now realize,
Computers will soon become
Obsolete because of change.

The element of
Touch technology will take
Over everything,
We shall all have to adapt
To it in a little while.

Inevitable
Ongoing evolution,
Our technology
Changes who we are with its
Great and powerful uses.

Never Tardy

Being late is not
Something I do well at all,
It is inbred in
Me to always be on time,
I honor Mom in that way.

I am a little
Overzealous with attempts
To do things early,
Sometimes it creates problems
For other people I know.

I am most likely
To turn projects in before
Associates start
Work on preliminary
Outlines of what they’re planning.

It is not too hard
On me because I was raised
With expectations
I would not be late unless
Providentially hindered.

Almost no one thinks
This way anymore, but it
Is my normal mode
Of operation to be
Never late, always on time.

Living In Color

Life drenches me in
Color every moment of
Every single day.

There is the green of
All living things surrounding
Me with abundance.

There is the blue of
Water, sky, and loneliness
Arching over me.

There is the red of
Love, passion, anger, and clothes
Enveloping me.

There is the yellow
Of sunshine lighting my world
Revealing color.

There is the purple
Of friendship and loyalty
Adding happiness.

There is the orange of
Sunrise and sunset glowing
With such sweet romance.

There is the white of
Pages accepting my words
Or bringing others.

There is the black of
Pain that I cannot combat
And nighttime I love.

Life drenches me in
Rainbows of color, which bring
Much richness to life.

Roses Bring Memories

The roses in bloom
Remind me of days when you
And I were walking
Hand in hand with little thought
Of what our futures might hold.

We were innocent
Youngsters with our lives stretching
Out in front of us,
No cares had yet arisen
To blight our beautiful days.

Love lightened our hours
With such welcome emotion
And happiness washed
Away any tears we shed,
We were best friends in Summer.

We are older now
Life has taught us hard lessons,
We fell in love with
Others who consumed our time,
But we still remain good friends.

The roses in bloom
Smell all the sweeter because
Of the time we spent,
Little girls with such big dreams
Loving life and sharing smiles.

Open Hands And Heart

Come with me, I said
Without a reservation,
I only wanted
To be followed much further
Than ever I had before.

I needed to have
His full cooperation,
His full intention,
To share my life and my love
Though I knew it might not last.

I took his hand in
Mine and led him much deeper
Than I had allowed
Anyone’s reach within my
Heart in all the years before.

Possibilities
Surrounded us with questions,
But we held answers
To life, love, and existence
Inside our relationship.

Come with me, I said
Full well knowing I could be
Hurt and left behind,
But love was worth sacrifice
Of all my complacency.
