Today’s poem is in answer to the prompt at Poetic Asides. I encourage you to visit that site and join the PAD Challenge.

Bons Mots Avec Mon Amis

When there is trouble,
When I am feeling undone,
Good words with my friends
Can set me back on the path
Of true joy and happiness.

My friends are treasure
Given me by gracious God
To inspire and lift
Me from the desolate depths
Of deepest darkest despair.

We may be distant,
Not knowing each other well,
But we bridge the space
With loving kindness, friendship,
That suits our needs very well.

I can often share
Bons mots avec mon amis
About anything
I choose and they will answer
Giving their good opinions,

Jesus has been good
Enough to grace my life with
People who mean so
Much to me in every way,
Bons mots avec mon amis.

2.   Leigh was able to come help us.
3.   Mom did not break any bones.
4.   Mom has eaten fairly well at lunch and supper.
5.   Hope and I walked a bit this evening.

Please engage your creativity now and make something that will brighten our world. I know you have the ability, just apply yourself.

As a prompt, write about something you could not handle alone. You can write a poem, story, or journal entry that will enlighten others and celebrate your triumph over struggle… If you use this prompt, please leave the link to your work in the comments below.

Today’s poem was prompted by Carry On Tuesday. If you are in need of inspiration, you might like to visit that site.

Beneath The Surface

There is a child in
Every one of us hidden
Beneath the surface
Of our adult bodies and
Very grown up attitudes.

The petulant child
Shows up in temper tantrums,
Childish behavior,
And the unreasonable
Demands we make on others.

The playful child lives
Within forever wistful
Hearts urging us to
Enjoy every moment we
Have to spend upon the Earth.

We do well to pay
Attention to impulses
Of our inner child
For their creativity
And joy brighten up our days.

There is a child in
Every one of us gifted
With the very best
Parts of us, innocence and
Lively imagination,

3.   Mom began to feel better before the day was over.

I had a good Tuesday and hope you did as well. If you have not engaged your creativity during the day, please do so now. There is so much you have to share with the rest of the world.

As a prompt, write about a jack-o-lantern. You might write a poem, story, or journal entry. Even if you are not a fan of Halloween surely you have an opinion about the carved pumpkins. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Today’s poem is a chant, prompted by the challenge at Poetic Asides. If you need inspiration visit that blog.

Beautiful People, Gorgeous Country

The people further away
From the city of Atlanta
Are kinder than I am used to,
The mountains are alive with color.

I stopped for directions
A couple of times and the people
Are kinder than I am used to,
The mountains are alive with color.

Is it my imagination or is it true
That the country people
Are kinder than I am used to,
The mountains are alive with color.

I traveled far into north Georgia,
North Carolina, Tennessee and folks
Are kinder than I am used to,
The mountains are alive with color.

The people further away
From the city of Atlanta
Are kinder than I am used to,
The mountains are alive with color.

I am grateful:

1.   I woke up early enough to head to the mountains this morning.
2.   My Nikon D5100 takes marvelous pictures.
3.   Martha and Steve have a beautiful butterfly garden.
4.   When I stopped for directions all the people were sweet.
5.   We had a safe trip though we traveled in three states.

I had a fabulous Wednesday. I hope your day was awesome too. Even though I have been out all day, I have taken time to create, and you should as well. Engage your creativity and make something wonderful to mark the passing of the day God gave you.

As a prompt, write about a trip you have taken… This could be a road trip, long distance travel, or a trip to your local grocery store. Whatever ignites your imagination. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

The Perfectionist

All right
Every detail
Must be exactly wrought
To standards of precise order
There can be no mistakes anywhere or
I have failed to live up to my
Proper expectations
Of perfection
All right

I am grateful:

1.   I had plenty of caffeinated sodas to help keep me awake.
2.   I enjoyed the work on the webpage and it was not difficult.
3.   I had a Hot Pocket for second breakfast.
4.   I am not overly tired although I have been up a long time.
5.   I enjoyed spending time with Mom today.

This has been a long Saturday, but thoroughly enjoyable. I hope your day has been pleasant. Take some time to create now, before this day slips away into history. You have all the power you need stored within you. You are perfectly endowed to produce something wonderful in this time.

As a prompt, use the words: wrought, precise, mistakes, expectations, and perfection, in a story or poem. These words were picked from my poem above, but I find them interesting and perhaps you will too. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

I encourage you to leave a comment if you have thoughts, suggestions, or criticism to share with me. I appreciate your visit to my blog and hope you will find your way back here again. The first line for the following poem was taken from the prompt at Poetic Asides. I hope you will visit that site should you need inspiration.

Not My Own

I’m not sure who I am or what I want,
But I know what I really need.
I need to be loved so completely
I never doubt my place in the world,
And in reality God so loves me.

I think I am a writer, a poet, an artist,
But you may disagree with me.
I want you to celebrate my work,
But am aware you may not find it
Worth your notice or accolades.

I’m not sure who I am or what I want,
But I am here, existing, taking steps
To realize my purpose though I am
Not certain what Jesus has in store
For this life I have devoted to Him.

I am grateful:

1.   Mom cooked cabbage for supper.
2.   I got a notice that two of the books I ordered shipped.
3.   I am enjoying reading Winter Of The World by Ken Follett.
4.   I found Mom’s keys when she had misplaced them.
5.   My toe does not hurt quite as bad as it did yesterday.

This Wednesday was a quiet day for me. I hope it was not too hectic for you. It would be very good if you did something creative this evening. You will, no doubt, find your voice if you make an effort.

As a prompt, write about something you are trying to do for someone else. You might be doing something in the background, or it might be some task you do daily. Just write and if your words take you elsewhere, follow the lines. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

It is an honor to have you visit my blog. I would love to read your thoughts, suggestions, or criticism, so please leave me a comment. You might want to follow Chronicles, if so see the link above.

Awesome Life

I look around this world in wonder,
Thinking how great life is to me.
I thank Jesus for every moment
Praying He allows me to remain
Here just a little while longer,
There is so much left for me to do.

I can barely get through the morning
Without evening coming on hard and fast.
There is hardly time for me to savor
The day before it becomes the past.
Life is so good to me I am humbled
By the many blessings I receive.

I look around this world in wonder,
Thinking how great life is to me.
I thank Jesus for every moment
Asking He continues beside me
In everything I try to accomplish,
Because I know He will see me through.

New Communication

Thanks to Alex,
I discovered something new
Of which I was unaware.
I use my iPod Touch
Only very little
Because I have the Classic.
Alex is the only one
Who gets me to use
The iPod Touch’s applications.
He told me about
An application called Voxer
And I downloaded it.
Now we can converse
Like we are using old time
Walkie Talkies.
It is very nice to hear
His voice over all the
Distance between us.
Now I have a new way
Of staying in touch
With my wonderful son.

2.   I took a nap.
3.   We caught up our Bible reading.
4.   Alex’s father, Richard called and we talked a bit.
5.   Alex and I have communicated a lot this afternoon and evening.

I hope your Wednesday has been pleasant with some sweet surprises. Take a few minutes to do something creative before you close out your day. Without using our imaginations our days are not used to their full potentials.

Instead of the usual journal entry, I wrote a story scene. I hope I might come back to it sometime and write more…

Journal 8-19-20120001

The poem today was prompted by The Sunday Whirl. The words found there are in italics. You might like to try your hand at creating something from the prompt, if so visit the site.

Making Of A Poem

Insidious waves
Nick the tinted drifts of thought
Spreading so gentle
Among the split decisions
Making preludes to poems.

Creativity
Reaches out to fix words in
Vivid arrangements,
Not appearing tinny on
Tip of a soft lisping tongue.

Every fading hour
Disengages from its limbs
Minutes filled with words
Circling about a point
Written down for the ages.

The poet creates
Lines to be long remembered,
At least by virtue
Of sentences etched on
Pages lasting forever.

Another shot of Edith Leigh…

I am grateful:

1.   I woke up at 8:00 this morning.
2.   My niece, Leigh, and great-niece Edith Leigh visited.
3.   They brought my books back.
4.   They took off the garbage.
5.   Mom cooked cabbage for lunch.

I hope you are relaxing this Sunday, but now is the time to create something wondrous. I know you have great things in your imagination just waiting for the opportunity to appear before the world. You are able to do whatever you set your mind to, so get busy.

As a prompt, write about a character in a difficult situation. This often leads to all sorts of ideas. See what happens when you try it. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.
