365 Creativity Project-Day 311

Journal entry:

The following poem is prompted by Poetic Asides. You might want to go visit that site for a bit of inspiration.

Tradeoffs

I do not have much,
I have given up a lot,
My disease hurts me,
But I am very well blessed
Because I am still serving.

I have given up
Many opportunities
Over time’s passage,
But I have gained as many
In the life that is left me.

Life is perfected
On an ongoing basis
Even though I lack
Some ability because
Of my own mental illness.

I could have been great
If not stricken with disease,
But I have learned that
Hardship brings many prospects
And occasions for triumph.

I am fortunate –
God chose me to be special,
Touched by His wonder,
A vessel filled with His grace,
Overwhelmed by His mercy.

I am grateful:

1.   I have wonderful books to read.
2.   I was able to call the AARP Nurse-line and get some advice.

4.   I am a little less sore.
5.   I have read twenty-eight books so far this year.

The following poem is in response to the prompt at Poetic Asides. I hope you will visit that site if you need inspiring today.

Moot Point

I surely do not
Have the proper words to write
Another poem,
The syllables are stuck in
The labyrinth of my mind.

Imagination
Dwells in silence not speaking
Its sentences to
Me, I am left with nothing
From which to spin worthy lines.

Language’s magic
Does not open itself to
My wondering brain
I am stuck, stuck, stuck, without
Any verses to share with you.

My poem today is in answer to the prompts at Poetic Asides and The Sunday Whirl. The words in italics come from the wordle. All errors are my own. If you would like inspiration I suggest you visit these wonderful sites.

Veteran Warrior

The days are rocky
Although he can never brook
The evil brought on
By the phantom beliefs held
In hearts on the other side.

Life is sometimes dry
And hollow beyond these walls
Where leaping into
New foxholes is not allowed
And birds sing sweet in the wood.

The bombs do not drop
Round him anymore, but he
Screams at the sound of
A basketball dribbled when
He is in a fitful sleep.

He tries to fit in,
But his family knows it
Is not happiness
Always even though they try
To make him comfortable.

He is at peace now,
Or he is supposed to be,
But the war does not
End just because the battle
Is finally over there.

I am grateful:

1.   Our veterans and currently active military chose to serve.
2.   Mom ate a bit better today.
3.   My Aunt Betty called.
4.   My nephew, Jeremy, came by briefly.
5.   Mom slept well last night.

I woke up at a few minutes after 6:00 this morning. My alarm was set for 8:30, but I decided to get up anyway. The day has been rewarding. I hope your Sunday has brought you much needed rest and relaxation. Now I urge you to rally yourself and use your creativity to make something that will positively influence the world. You have the seeds of greatness within you, just allow them to flower in imaginative creation.

Today’s poem answers the prompt on Poetic Asides. Please join me in the November PAD Chapbook Challenge and visit that site.

Fear Alone

Being alone scares
Me when I think long about
The bareness of it
Because I am not very
Good company by myself.

I should have learned by
Now to fully entertain
Myself on my own,
But the evenings tend to haunt
Me with their ebon darkness.

Every sound outside
Makes my heart lurch with fear, not
Knowing what lurks in
The night beyond the glowing
Illumination indoors.

I surround myself
With the little comforts of
Civilization
To keep the loneliness and
Deep fear far away from me.

Still being alone
Frightens me, but I will not
Let the fear hold me
Back from accomplishing all
The dreams I want to achieve.

Change

No dear…
I am afraid
That outfit does not match
The colors clash quite horribly
Please pick out something different to wear
Otherwise you will embarrass
Yourself very badly
When going out
No dear…

Glorious Orb

Full moon…
Peeking through trees
Lighting up the darkness
With its pale and beautiful light
Making magic of this autumn midnight
I can see into the distance
Because of its fair face
Shining in space
Full moon…

Today’s poem is a chant, prompted by the challenge at Poetic Asides. If you need inspiration visit that blog.

Beautiful People, Gorgeous Country

The people further away
From the city of Atlanta
Are kinder than I am used to,
The mountains are alive with color.

I stopped for directions
A couple of times and the people
Are kinder than I am used to,
The mountains are alive with color.

Is it my imagination or is it true
That the country people
Are kinder than I am used to,
The mountains are alive with color.

I traveled far into north Georgia,
North Carolina, Tennessee and folks
Are kinder than I am used to,
The mountains are alive with color.

The people further away
From the city of Atlanta
Are kinder than I am used to,
The mountains are alive with color.

Do Not Lament

We have not the time
To spend in deepest regret
Over the mistakes
We have made in days gone past,
But must live today in joy.

The things we have done
Are forgiven by the Lord.
We are set free from
All the sins we committed
By Jesus’ saving grace.

No matter what may
Happen in the world today
We are surrounded
By the loving care of God
And He will light our pathway.

We should live each day
So fully we never once
Become discontent
With what we have accomplished,
But rejoice with happiness.

We are the living
Representatives of faith
Placed by God on Earth
To reflect His righteousness
Before a grief stricken world.

Inspiration?

I have been saving
These words for this occasion
Not knowing before
This moment exactly what
I shall place upon this page.

I write down these lines
Without premeditation
Simply making this
Statement plain and clear for you
To ponder at your leisure.

Creativity
Wells up from deep within me
Erupting into
These few solid sentences
Evoking in you response.

Imagination
Writes from the depths of my heart,
Determination
Leading me, guiding me, and
Forging some concrete meaning.

I dip in the well
Dug deep within my soul to
Capture the essence
Of the notions inspired in
This very special moment.

The following poem is an old one from the Multiply group I thought I would share here… It may have appeared here long ago, but I doubt you mine my archives that deeply.

Yearnings Bared

Fingertips touching lightly
Contact nude intensely vibrant
Passion rising immediate
Waves flowing inward
Ebbing outward.
Subtle flush suffusing
Soft ivory flesh
Under hungry tongue
Glowing brilliant with joy,
Sharing essence.
Tight breath sighing
From ruby lips
Parted recent kissed.
Chasm heaving with
Tumultuous liquid fire,
Aching for fulfillment
Tautly withheld
Until desire ignites
Jubilant frenzy
Writhing in ecstasy.
Bodies meeting
Fusing volatile exploding
In universal orgasm
Gleaming ardent bright
In total completion.
Basking in heat of
Loving aura,
Stoking the embers
Back to fire before
The dew dries
On radiant skin.

I am grateful:

1.   I began my day fairly early even though I stayed up quite late.
2.   I did not go to town today.
3.   I have money again.
4.   My old work is thought provoking to me.
5.   I ordered Hope’s medicine from 1-800 Pet Meds and it did not cost as much as I expected.

I have enjoyed my Wednesday, and I hope yours was enjoyable as well. Take time to do something creative now. You may feel uninspired, but that is no excuse to neglect your work. You will only produce something worthwhile if you expend effort to make it happen.

Today I challenge you with this prompt: Write about inspiration. You may have some particular method to share with others, or you may wish to write about how elusive inspiration is. Whatever your angle, if you use this prompt please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

I hope your visit here has proved pleasant. If so, you may wish to subscribe to Chronicles. I love your input. If you have thoughts, suggestions, or criticism, please do not hesitate to leave a comment.

Conservation

If we do not take
Care of our environment
It will not take care
Of us and those who follow
In years we leave behind us.

The Earth is not ours
To abuse, but to nurture
With our gentle care;
God gave us our dominion,
Yet He meant us to be kind.

The many creatures
Depend upon us to keep
Them completely safe
From decimation unleashed
By those with little respect.

It matters what we
Do and how we continue
In relationship
With nature’s diverse bounty,
We must save all that we can.

We thrive when the Earth
Grows abundantly stronger
Under our careful
Tending and we must keep on
Giving our best to our world.

I am grateful:

1.   I woke up very well rested this morning.
2.   I was able to straighten out the medication snafu at the pharmacy.
3.   I took Mom for her blood work today.
4.   We had pizza from Papa John’s for supper.
5.   It rained all night and most of the day.

I enjoyed my Monday and I hope you did as well. Take a few minutes to exercise your creativity before you close the books on this day. You have the talent to accomplish anything you desire, if you will only believe in yourself and use your gifts. I have faith in you because if I can do this creativity project you can surely do something similar.

As a prompt, write about conservation. You could write from the view of a creature, or a place, or as an environmentalist. The choice is yours. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Faith

I am a Christian –
I am not perfect, I face
Problems like others,
But I know God is nearby
To answer my every prayer.

I am forgiven –
Because Christ died in my place
Bringing salvation
To me and the human race
Who call upon His mercy.

I am believing –
There is something more than this
Physical life lived
Here on Earth with all its trials,
I look forward to Heaven.

I am comforted –
By assurances given
In Holy Scripture
Telling me Jesus does care
About all things in my life.

I am a Christian –
I have an Advocate who
Stands before my God
Beseeching His blessings on
Endeavors I undertake.

I am grateful:

1.   I talked to Alex when he called to wish Mom a belated Happy Birthday.
2.   The ceramic owl did not break when it fell behind the bookshelf.
3.   I finished the evaluations of the four essays I was assigned in the MoPo course.
4.   I did not have to go out today.
5.   We are up to date on our Bible study reading, and this is the last week in the Old Testament.

I know Monday can be a difficult day, but I hope yours went well. Take time to explore your imagination. You definitely should create something before you consign this day to history. You have the ability to bring your vision to life if you make an effort to do so.

As a prompt, write about faith or create an image that represents faith to you. Even if you believe differently, surely you have some sort of spirituality. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.
