Unbridled

Red is the passion
Of a heart unfettered by
Any real restraint,
One that is given freely,
Totally dedicated.

Scarlet are kisses
Tracking over the body
Of one who lays down
All inhibitions that hold
Burning emotions at bay.

Red is fulfillment
Of wildly raging lovers
In each other’s arms,
Carrying them beyond all
Their dearly held fantasies.

Crimson is the first
Flush of love opening souls
To one another,
The divine connection draws
Sweethearts together always.

Red is the growing
Trust between any who share
Intertwined lives for
Longer than they ever had
Reason to expect they would.

I am grateful:

1.   I woke up early.
2.   I had a hot shower.
3.   Mom was able to get her bath.
4.   The tablet I wanted went on sale.
5.   Best Buy did have it, even though one of the sales associates said they did not.

I had a great Monday, although Mom was in a lot of pain and I was saddened by her discomfort. I hope your day was also good. I encourage you to take time to use your imagination and create something to share with others. Even if you only work for your own pleasure it is worthwhile. However, your talent is sure to move people if you put your creations on display.

As a prompt, write about something you have delayed doing. Maybe it is buying something, or sharing news with someone you care about. Whatever it is, write it out. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I am embarked on a challenge throughout June sponsored by Our Lost Jungle. I hope this will keep me motivated. Please come back to see what I am doing often. You might like to subscribe to Chronicles by email so you receive updates. You comments are always welcome, so leave one below.

Open Hands And Heart

Come with me, I said
Without a reservation,
I only wanted
To be followed much further
Than ever I had before.

I needed to have
His full cooperation,
His full intention,
To share my life and my love
Though I knew it might not last.

I took his hand in
Mine and led him much deeper
Than I had allowed
Anyone’s reach within my
Heart in all the years before.

Possibilities
Surrounded us with questions,
But we held answers
To life, love, and existence
Inside our relationship.

Come with me, I said
Full well knowing I could be
Hurt and left behind,
But love was worth sacrifice
Of all my complacency.

This Wednesday was a good day. I hope you accomplished much of what you planned today. Now I encourage you to busy yourself with creative work. No doubt you can make something wonderful if you apply yourself. Creativity enriches the world, and yours is vital to enhancing the lives of those you touch. Do not discount your gifts. You have amazing talent and I know you can make a contribution to the global community. You may feel you have a small reach, but every person you touch influences others and your words or art may drive them to achieve more than they could without your prompting.

As a prompt use the words, “Than ever I had before,” in a poem, story, or journal entry. See where it leads you. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Thank you for reading my blog. I hope you have enjoyed your visit and encourage you to return often. You might also want to subscribe to Chronicles by email. I am very interested in any thoughts, suggestions, or criticism you may have to share, so please leave a comment.

Unappreciated

You take it all away
With your ignorance
Of everything I do
To make your life
More pleasant.

Sometimes I almost
Give up trying
Because you never
Notice my efforts
To enrich your days.

I have to remain
Hidden in the shadows
While you bask in
All the glory,
Darkness must suit me.

One day perhaps
You will notice
Everything does not
Revolve around you
And all your drama.

I work in the background
Without any credit
Wondering why I must
Continue when you
Do not even say thanks.

Beyond Bearing

Could it be magic?
This feeling uncontained by
My normal restraint,
Running wild across my nerves,
Shaking up my sheltered life.

I glance so quickly
At you and then away with
Eyes that cannot bear
More than just momentary
Contact with your fair visage.

Your voice causes me
To tremble with deep longing
Consuming every
Vestige of my strong resolve,
Making me completely melt.

I am overcome
By overwhelming feelings
Of desire and love,
I want you within my arms
Cradled to my beating heart.

Could it be magic?
This feeling uncontained by
My normal restraint,
Running wild across my nerves,
Shaking up my sheltered life.

The following poem was prompted by NaPoWriMo and Poetic Asides. I combined the prompts, but you do not have to do that when you visit the sites for inspiration.

Debunk The Lie

I was in darkness
Trapped for such a long, long time
Believing the lie
Writers could be blocked and left
Unable to produce work.

I was ignorant
Though I had read so often
That simply writing,
No matter my own feelings,
Would allow words liberty.

You may be shrouded
In the deepest darkest gloom
Of a Writer’s Block,
But I urge you to make haste
To take up your tools and fight.

You can overcome
The lie that holds you within
The dark and break out
Into creativity’s
Overwhelmingly bright light.

I have learned, as can
You, devotion can lead to
Much accomplishment,
Just keep your hand moving and
Get all the words on the page.

I am grateful:

1.   God gave me another good day.
2.   My handmade pens arrived today, thanks to
Nathan Carver of Carver’s Custom Pens.
3.   Penny ate well this evening.
4.   I was able to get the lid off the dog food bucket and fill the food bowls.
5.   Tomorrow I will have money again.

I enjoyed my Tuesday and hope you did also. Do not believe in Creative Block! You have the ability to make something wonderful if you will only devote yourself to doing it. I used to let myself think that I was blocked… Now I am sure I wasted much time and I regret it. Do not submit to the lie, get busy and create.

As a prompt, write a missive to a situation, a thing, or a person that you need to put into perspective. You could use the form of a poem, story, or journal entry. Just get your words on the page. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Resurrection

They laid His body,
Lifeless, within the dark tomb,
Shadow fell across
Their souls for they did not know
What miracle awaited.

He had explained to
Them, but they lacked understanding,
Nothing prepared them
For His crucifixion and
Their loss of His leadership.

On the third day they
Found the tomb’s stone rolled away
He was not there, but
Had risen up from the grave,
Conquering death, coming alive.

When Jesus appeared
To them, they were amazed and
Overcome by joy
Here was the Lord who they loved
Resurrected and alive.

Death had lost its hold
And been swallowed up by life
The Eternal One
Christ Jesus had overcome
Sin’s punishment with victory.

Moving Forward

I thought it would be easy
To move beyond those moments
Engraved upon the fabric
Of my fragile memory,
But I was so mistaken.

Those times I still remember
With the starkest clarity,
And though I try to forget,
I am forever haunted
As if it were yesterday.

I guess it was such a loss
Of not just relationship,
But also physical things
Missing in this my present,
That I can hardly let go.

Yet I am now determined
To move myself beyond this
Feeling of deep emptiness,
And rise up to meet these new
Beginnings, full of promise.

Our Redeemer

Whoever you are,
Wherever you come from,
However you have lived,
The Lord is seeking you…
He wants a relationship
Especially with you.

Jesus came and died
Because He knew you
Would need a Savior
And He arose to conquer
Death and guarantee
You everlasting life.

Whoever you are,
Wherever you come from,
However you have lived,
Jesus is waiting for you
To call upon His name
And join His Kingdom.

Abilities On Display

Everyone has gifts,
Individual talents,
Which make them special;
None of us is exactly
Alike in propensity.

It makes the world so
Much the richer that we are
Each so different,
God created us to be
Distinct personalities.

We are handiwork
Of the Creator who makes
Our character so
Completely singular we
Are total originals.

So honor each one
As perfect expression of
Creativity
Unleashed by Divinity
Into the wondering world.
