Flights of Fancy

Imagination
Takes flight into the unknown,
Creativity
Brings your vision so alive
Others can participate.

Every day is yours
To experience and mold
Into beautiful
Creations completely new,
Totally original.

Your ability
To engage everyone else,
Mind and heart, is great
If you will commit yourself
To working creatively.

Allow miracles
To flow through your hands onto
Paper or canvas,
Bringing dreams into the world
Where people can share in them.

Creativity
Brings your vision full alive,
Imagination
Takes flight into the unknown
Conquering the universe.

I am grateful:

1.   Mom and I sat and talked for a couple of hours this morning.
2.   Oreo cookies and milk made a tasty breakfast.
3.   I called Jeremy and he said he will come out Saturday.
4.   I picked up Penny’s medicine at Sam’s Pharmacy.
5.   Hope seems calmer with the Thunder Shirt on.

This was a busy Thursday for me and I hope you accomplished a lot during your day. If you have not already exercised your creativity today, do it now. You impact the world with the things you choose to create. People are poorer when you leave your talents unused.

The prompt for today is to write about something you are not sure how you should handle. Maybe it is a relationship, a work situation, or even how to approach a project. See if your writing suggests a solution to your quandary. If you use this prompt please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

I had a hard time creating this entry. I was not in the least inspired, but I hope something in it was worthwhile. If you have suggestions or a comment, I would love to read your input.

Always,
Jo Ann

Completely Responsible

I do not pretend
To be perfect, but I seem
More adept at things
Than some others who think they
Are more competent than me.

I must organize
A variety of tasks
And handle them well
Or things fall apart for us
In a very short order.

I am always on
Call for an emergency
Arising any
Moment, daytime or nighttime,
I can fix every problem.

I never believed
The responsibility
Should be given me,
But I perform very well
Under some intense pressures.

I must overcome
All my disability
In circumstances
Where I need total control
Or everything collapses.

I am grateful:

1.   I woke up early this morning.
2.   Mom went with me today.
3.   We made it safely over I-20 and 285 in the rain.
4.   The pizza I ordered was very good.
5.   My doctor did make it to the office even though he looked exhausted.

I hope your Saturday was more pleasurable than mine. I had a great deal of difficulty doing my journal entry and poem this evening because I was very upset over my experience at Wal-Mart. My nerves would not settle, but I managed to do this project anyway. You can do something creative if you set your mind to it.

My prompt for you is to write about a situation that did not go exactly as planned. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

I thank you for taking the time to visit my blog. If you have a comment or suggestion I would be honored to read it.

Always,
Jo Ann

Financial Returns

Money cannot buy
The most precious things on Earth,
Even though some might
Try to purchase them were they
Ever made available.

Family remains
A gift meted out by God
And friends come into
Our lives by chance or their choice,
Somewhat random occurrence.

Love graces our lives
Without any true payment,
Just because we are
Human beings who belong
In company of others.

Happiness follows
Our own daily made choices,
Cash does not insure
We will share any more than
We discover without it.

Money is quite nice
To ease the roughness of life,
But it really does
Not insure that we will live
With the greatest of pleasure.

I am grateful:

1.   I got up early.
2.   I wrote a acrostic poem for someone.
3.   I went to the post office and mailed a card.
4.   Our drive went safely.
5.   My Social Security will be deposited tomorrow.

This was an extremely busy day for me, I hope your Thursday was less harried. Take a few moments to exercise your creativity now. I believe you can accomplish awesome things if you only make an effort.

For a prompt today, write about money. This is a subject that should evoke some response in you and give you fodder about which to write. If you use the prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

I hope you enjoyed your visit in my world. If you have suggestions or comments to share, I would love your input.

It Can Reality Be

Set an intention
In your imagination,
Believe it is real
Feel it can actually
Be, and it happens for you.

Reality can
Conform to your fondest dream,
If you desire it
Within your heart and refuse
To think so negatively.

It may sound far-fetched,
A bit unrealistic,
But I assure you
There is power inside you
To create the life you will.

God does not intend
You to live unhappily,
The universe is
Yours to command if you will
Trust in its great abundance.

Do be positive,
Do believe in miracles,
Do dream very big,
You are destined to live life
Completely fulfilled, truly.

I am grateful:

1.   I woke up very early this morning.
2.   I remembered my vitamins and medicine.
3.   Traffic was not bad in town.
4.   I did not have to go to Wal-Mart today.
5.   I was not rained on.

I hope you had a wonderful Friday. Make an effort and create something before you retire this evening. It can be anything, but you owe it to yourself to use your fertile imagination.

My prompt for you today is to write about something you dream of and how you can make it a reality. If you are a visual artist, draw, paint, photograph, or collage a representation of what you want to have. Let it become so real for you that you must manifest your desire in your life. If you use this prompt please leave a link to your work in the comments so others can see what you made.

I hope you enjoyed your visit to my blog. If you have any thoughts to share, please leave a comment.

This is the website where you can join the challenge: 24 Hour Zine Thing. I highly recommend you do this, because it will get you creating, and you know how I feel about creativity.

Prayerfully

I come with heavy
Heart hurting for so many
Who are suffering
At this very moment and
I can only lift them up.

I know God’s mighty
Grace is fully sufficient,
But still I long to
Place my arms around all these
Precious ones who need comfort.

I pray that others
May remember the many
Who are desperate,
Depressed, injured, bereaved, ill,
And our prayers join together.

There are numerous
Needs everywhere in our world
And only God can
Meet them though we each must do
Whatever we can to help.

The good of Christ may
Reach into every darkness
Alleviating
Pain and easing many hurts
Restoring minds, hearts, and souls.

3.   Mom is getting a new charger for her implant.
4.   I received a galley by UPS.
5.   I went to the post office and mailed an important letter.

I hope you have had a wonderful and enjoyable Friday. I know it is a bit late, but you have time to create something. You have the ability, so get busy. I am sure you can manage a poem, journal entry, story, essay, or some sort of picture. Do not make excuses for why you should not create, challenge yourself to accomplish something meaningful.

If you need a prompt write about something you learned online today. It might be a news item, something a friend said, a post you saw on a blog, anything really… I know you spend ample time online to find something about which to write. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

I would love to learn your thoughts, so please comment.

My poem today is in answer to the prompt at Carry On Tuesday. You might want to go there for some inspiration. I am considering starting a prompt here on Chronicles. I made three journals with a prompt on each page several years ago and think they would be worth using here. If the idea appeals to you, please let me know.

So Over You

No more illusions
The blinders are off my eyes,
I can see clearly
Now that I have decided
To move forward with my life.

You were not really
Mine for such a long, long time,
You played upon my
Emotions keeping me tied
To you after it ended.

I will surely find
Another who will tight cling
To me in sweet bliss
And you will be forgotten,
A part of my history.

I can see clearly
Now that the future will be
Greater than the past,
For this my present is full
Of glorious happiness.

I am grateful:

1.   Even though I did not take a notebook I was able to write a poem in town.
2.   Mom was able to go in Wal-Mart with me and shop.
3.   I do not have to go to town tomorrow.
4.   Diet Cokes were only $5.98 a case.
5.   I rested a while before posting this blog entry.

I hope your Tuesday went well. If you have not already done so, you should create something. There is plenty you can do, so you have no excuse for leaving it undone.

I would appreciate it if you leave me a comment.

Today’s poem is derived from The Sunday Whirl. I hope maybe you will take time to create something from this wordle.

The Reunion

I scrape off the rough barnacles
That cocoon my flinty tongue,
The words brittle like old chalk
Blur in the austere presence
Of those drenched in the cold hate
Splattered upon me by their slander
Which burnished my youthful days,
And yet I speak soft syllables
Of generous friendliness
Accepting them without regret
Moving beyond the fallen tears.

Today my poetry prompt came from Carry On Tuesday. You should try their site if you are looking for inspiration.

After All, Tomorrow Is Another Day

These things you say I should do,
You have no real conception
What you are asking of me,
Nor how ill prepared I am
To take on additional
Tasks beyond my regular
Responsibilities now.

My disorders render me
Unable to accomplish
The many things required on
Ordinary every days.
It is God’s grace providing
All the care I am able
To give my full attention.

I do my personal best,
But eventually there
May come a crisis in time
Where someone else has to take
On accountability
As incapability
Might overcome my usefulness.

For now I am still enough,
After all, tomorrow
Is another day and it
Is all in the hands of God
Come whatever will He sees
Fit to bestow upon us,
But do not expect the most of me.

Unfortunately, that poem made my Mom cry because she knows how easily I could have problems that incapacitated me. I have both Schizo-Affective Disorder and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Either one could render me unable to care for her and the dogs for a time, but I hope God will continue to see fit to bless me with strength to do the things I must. My sister-in-law, Linda, indicated I should do something that I cannot manage and inspired the content of the poem. My family should back me up so that all the responsibility is not mine, but they don’t.

Card to my Mom:

Mother's Day 20120001

Today’s prompt was to write an insult poem:

Damn

You are not the one
I think of when I need help
Because you have left
Me alone to handle all
The problems that befall us.

I am sure you think
I should hold you in esteem,
But you will never
Have my respect after all
The years you have been absent.

I do not need you
I have long since moved beyond
Dependence on you;
Just get on with your sweet life
And let me keep on with mine.

I could almost hate
You for your lack of caring,
But it would do me
More harm than it would do you,
So just stay the hell away.

Home

This was not my place
I lived out in my own space
With a distinct home,
So I only visited
My Mom who was living here.

My fortunes then changed
I was displaced, my space lost,
In that troubled time
My Mom kindly took me in,
Gave my son and I a home.

For years I have lived
Upon this fine property
Enjoying the gift
Of the place’s loveliness
And Mom’s generosity.

This has now become
The location my heart longs
To return after
I have been another place,
It is my permanent home.
