This news is worth a look: The coming crackdown on blogging. Sounds like the oppressive hand of the government may come down hard on those of us who freely express ourselves on the net. Whatever happened to freedom of speech in America? Did we suddenly all give up our rights.

These folks are downright scary: Commentary & News Briefs. They want to regulate everything according to their standards and leave others out of the loop. Again I am a Christian, but believe quite strongly that my rights end where another’s rights begin. I am not to judge another person’s conscience, that is between the individual and God or whatever they believe in. Tolerance and understanding are goals I try to meet. I believe that is what is most Christ-like. He did not sow hate, but brought love.

Onward to better things: TIME BANDITS. This article is very interesting.

I have to get ready for bed. This is an early day for me, even though it is Saturday.

News I Clicked…

Bush defends his commitment to faith initiative. I’m glad others see this thing as bogus. This is what began my entanglement in the argument that almost became a fight on Saturday. It all seems a ploy to get out of supporting social issues to me.

This sounds cruel to me: Senate Rejects Senior Homestead Protection. Why punish the elderly and those who are trying to survive illness. Just seems like the average to poor citizen is under attack. Is it just me or is there a great deal of unfairness here?

In other news:Bill Gates receives honorary knighthood. Bad news for IT: Oil is hot, tech is not. I wonder what this means for people like us, who use computers daily.

Just My Thoughts…

SATIRE: Gay Old Time(rs) and Howling With Laughter at Attack on AARP: I don’t know if you saw the ad, but the thing was not a nice one and the couple pictured are suing the company who ran it. AARP is basically a great organization, and did not deserve to be so vilified. Some people have sick little minds… and don’t play well with others. I hope things get better. My Mom is an AARP member and she is one of the more moral people I know, even if she doesn’t like "Baby Bush’s" politics. "Baby Bush" is my nickname for our esteemed leader, it comes from my affectionate regard for him and "Papa Bush". Watch out they are grooming Jeb for the next president. I’ll have to work on a nickname for him. Nothing nice comes to mind.

I think Clinton may have the right idea, Hillary would make a very good first woman president. At least we might expect to have a surplus in our treasury instead of a huge deficit. Too, she might make some headway on getting decent health-care for all Americans, including the poor. I don’t know if she will run, but I think I would vote for her if she did. She seems a decent sort of person with a human heart to me. She even knows how to be forgiving which could be a definate plus for diplomacy.

Excuse me for lapsing into politics. It seems a very charged issue for me lately. I almost got my ass kicked about it and I am still steaming.

Have you seen this? Take a look…

This is the most ludicrous thing I have seen posted on the net, ever… I am appalled: I Support The Occupation Of Iraq, But I Don’t Support Our Troops. I wish they had a link to comment. I believe men and women matter much more than policy. Maybe it is a joke… sick one if so.

A Strong Warning

I just want to warn you that MSN customers are being sent fraudulent emails again. I received the one shown below this morning. Please warn unsuspecting persons never to reply to such email or click on the links contained in them. All real MSN messages come with the Butterfly showing before the subject line. If you receive such an email you should forward it with all header information to abuse@msn.com. Keep the original email in case the header information does not show up properly and you have to do some technical stuff to display it. It is a good policy to also report such email to the government as well since it is illegal to try to falsely steal personal information. This link has good contact information and a link explaining how to display full header information so that authorities can actually track such offenders: http://safety.msn.com/articles/phishreport.armx.

Local Tragedy… and A Wondering…

My mother related portions of this story to me on the way to her appointment this afternoon: Sheriff’s Deputy, Gunman Killed. We drive right by the home that was the scene of the crime on our way into Douglasville. I was saddened by the news. It is always tragic when an officer is killed in the line of duty. As we drove back home and passed the house I wondered, how do you hold a funeral for a person who has murdered someone? This thought had never really occurred to me before. I would think it was nearly impossible to make any remarks on such an occasion. How would you offer any comfort to the family, but at the same time how could you not try. Such tragedy in our world…

I wish there were true peace to be found.

Getting Political…

You might want to read this even if you support Mr. Bush, Bush To Poor. My son, my mother and I are some of the people these cuts hurt. That is not to say we are overly important, just meaning we already struggle and things look to get worse. There are lots of people who really need social programs who are likely to lose with these cuts. This one is worth a read as well The $200 Million Disinformation Campaign. When so much power is given to the super-rich and business conglomerates everyone loses.

Do We Own Anything?

Here is another link you might want to click: Is Your Stuff Yours?. This gets to a basic question I often ask… do we really, really own anything. I tend to think the policy is definitely leaning to less ownership for the common citizen. Any one have an opinion?
