Reba with Scarlett…

Tonight’s poem was prompted by The Sunday Whirl. I have not done one of these in a while. The words provided are in italics. If you are in need of inspiration, perhaps you might find it at that site.

Commissioned

The Master calls us
To march into His wide world
To share the words of
Life in all places with all
People who need a great change.

People who faint in
The street destined to die in
The depths of their sin
Unless we stretch forth our hands
And train them in the way to go.

God will bless their hearts
And create in them desire
To follow His ways,
But we must willingly go
Bringing the gospel of Christ.

We must dedicate
Our hearts and lives to spreading
The Good News to all
Nations who need saving grace
Of Jesus’ salvation.

The power of God
Is manifest through His work
Among all people
Who He draws unto himself
With faithfulness and glory.

Reba’s husband Rob…

I am grateful:

1.   I had a chocolate covered crème filled Krispy Kreme doughnut with milk for breakfast.
2.   Mom and I remembered to wear green for Saint Patrick’s Day.
3.   We got to church early enough to get a parking place near the doors so Mom did not have to walk far.
4.   I was able to see Reba and Rob today after many years without a visit.
5.   Mom and I took a nap this afternoon.

As a prompt, write about a recent experience that brought you great joy. You might celebrate in a poem, story, or journal entry. Let your thoughts lead you wherever they wish. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

It Is A Miracle

My mind is broken,
Yet I still think…
My heart is broken,
Yet I still feel…
My body is broken,
Yet I still stand…
My spirit is broken,
Yet I am healed…

By the power of Jesus
My life continues:
Sane within my insanity,
Loving despite my hurts,
Upright despite my infirmity,
Saved despite my many
And terrible wrongs,
By His grace and mercy.

I can still think
Because He clarifies my mind…
I can still feel
Because He works in my emotions…
I can still stand
Because He works in my weakness…
I can claim healing
Because I am forgiven by His blood…

I am grateful:

1.   I had Oreo cookies for breakfast with a glass of cold milk.
2.   I had my Droid with me and was able to call Mom to help her set the thermostat on air conditioning so she would not get too hot.
3.   My friend, Jana, and I met for lunch at Wendy’s.
4.   I had enough money for lunch and we had some uplifting conversation.
5.   I talked to my best friend, Reba, this evening and am seeing her tomorrow after church.

The weather today was gorgeous and I thoroughly enjoyed my Saturday. I hope your day was filled with blessings as well. If you have a few moments to spare, or can make the time, engage yourself in creative work. It will enrich your life and calm you mind. Make your work a prayer or meditation and let it flow from your heart. Your talent will bless the others who are influenced by your imagination.

As a prompt, write about some of the things you take for granted from an attitude of gratitude. You might be surprised at how much is good in your life. If you create a poem, story, or journal entry, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

I almost did not write tonight, because I have so many other things I should be getting done. I had nothing about which to write. No inspiration graced me, but I managed to create something. I truly appreciate your taking the time to read my blog. I hope you will return often, but you might also want to enter your email address above so that you receive future updates from Chronicles. I hope something here has touched you. If you have thoughts, suggestions, or criticism to share, please leave me a comment. I am in need of your opinions on whether this blog is effective.

Following A Path

Standing at the crossroads of
Where I am at present and
Where I most urgently want
To be, with no real idea
How I will reach all my goals.

No looking backward, only
Pressing forward toward the
Victory of making dreams
Become full reality
In the life I live today.

While standing at the crossroads
I know to put more effort
Into the worthy causes
That invite my investment
Of precious time and talent.

I can achieve more than thought
If I continue trying
Without ever giving up.
Accomplishment happens when
Moving beyond the crossroads.

Standing at the crossroads is
An invitation to join
Overwhelming adventure
That leads further than ever
Creatively imagined.

As a prompt, use the following phrase in a poem, story, or journal entry: So much to be done and so little time to do it. This should provoke thought. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Earnest Plea

Lord help…
Send someone who
Can minister to those
Who are so greatly in need of
Love, tenderness, understanding, and care.
Lord let me do something to help
Show me a way where there
Is not a way,
Lord help…

Our Redeemer

Whoever you are,
Wherever you come from,
However you have lived,
The Lord is seeking you…
He wants a relationship
Especially with you.

Jesus came and died
Because He knew you
Would need a Savior
And He arose to conquer
Death and guarantee
You everlasting life.

Whoever you are,
Wherever you come from,
However you have lived,
Jesus is waiting for you
To call upon His name
And join His Kingdom.

Struggle Of Faith

The call
Comes and I wonder what
One such as I can do,
I want to be open,
Totally yielded,
To the Lord’s sovereign will
For the rest of my life,
But I feel needy,
Completely unworthy,
To give any witness,
To share in His
Harvest

On Purpose

I suppose I am
On mission even here at
Home because no one
Else is willing to take on
The responsibilities
That I have with Mom.
I made a promise I will
Not break, but I thought
Mistakenly that others
Might step up and do their part.
I have to trust God
That if there is something else
He wishes me to
Do, He will make a way for
Me where there is not a way.
It is my duty
To be open to His call
Willing to do His
Work wherever I can be
Used by His almighty hand.

Fulfillment

Hope grows
Within my heart
As I allow my church
To minister to my spirit
I feel the Holy Spirit reaching out
To fill my life with great purpose
Christ gives me happiness
An anointing
Of love

Occupy Yourself

If you
Find yourself bored
Look around you and see
The many things that could be done
Or perhaps busy yourself creating.
There is always room in the world
For imagination
To be let play
Freely

Abilities On Display

Everyone has gifts,
Individual talents,
Which make them special;
None of us is exactly
Alike in propensity.

It makes the world so
Much the richer that we are
Each so different,
God created us to be
Distinct personalities.

We are handiwork
Of the Creator who makes
Our character so
Completely singular we
Are total originals.

So honor each one
As perfect expression of
Creativity
Unleashed by Divinity
Into the wondering world.
