Flourishing

Sometimes
Someone takes on
Something that is beyond
Anything they have imagined
Possible for them to accomplish in
Ordinary times and succeeds
In performing better
Than anyone
Before

I am grateful:

1.   I caught up on some sleep today.
2.   I called Adobe, and they fixed my technical problems without charge.
3.   I did not have to go out.
4.   The broccoli, carrots, and cauliflower steamed well and Mom was able to eat them.
5.   Laura called and is going to bring the Ranger for me to use to carry the cans for recycling.

My Wednesday was very enjoyable. I hope yours was as well. Now, before you retire for the evening, I suggest you engage your imagination and produce something creative. Do not make any excuses, just get busy and make a wonderful contribution to our world. Your creativity enhances your life and those of others.

As a prompt, write about your observations regarding your pets. Maybe your cat does something unbelievable, or your dog should be commended. Tell us all about it in a poem, story, journal entry, or note to elaborate upon later. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I attempt to create something that will entertain. You may have thoughts, suggestions, or criticism to share, so please leave a comment. If you like, please follow Chronicles.

Personal Censor

Out loud
I do not say
All that I am thinking,
It would not be polite to give
Voice to every thought which crosses my mind’s
Threshold, most people would deem me
Crazier than I am
If I spoke more
Freely

I am grateful:

1.   After being awakened by a phone call I went back to bed this morning and got some extra rest.
2.   I set up an appointment with a dietitian to discuss Mom’s nutrition needs.
3.   I managed to get AT&T to remove the $24.00 of extra charges they had affixed to my account.
4.   Mom enjoyed the supper I prepared this evening.
5.   I have shelter, food, clothing, clean water, transportation, and companionship.
6.   Alex talked to me on Voxer this evening.

DSC_0329

My Tuesday involved some aggravation, I hope yours was more pleasant. I am quite fed up with AT&T, but do not see how I can replace them. Enough of that, you should dedicate some time to creativity. I know that you can do it, because I do. Your voice can immensely enrich the world. Your experience could help someone through their own struggles, so share a bit of your heart.

As a prompt, write about how you censor yourself. This could be very serious, or you could approach it comically. If you use the prompt, please share a link to your creation in the comments below.

I want to thank you for taking time to read my blog. I hope you found something you enjoyed. Share your thoughts, suggestions, or criticism by leaving a comment for me. If you would like, you can subscribe to Chronicles to receive future updates.

Victory From Defeat

Today
Held challenges
I was unable to
Meet, but I tried my very best
To keep the promises I gladly made
And was rewarded with blessings
I never expected
God remembered
My heart

As a prompt, write about the silver lining in your day. I often find the greatest blessings come when I am immersed in stormy situations. Amidst trouble there is usually still something to make me smile, I bet it is the same for you. Write about it. It will help you appreciate your day. Purpose
Is not always
Easily discerned, but
Each of us is given tasks to
Accomplish in our lives if we will but
Concentrate upon our efforts

I had an excellent Saturday although I found a letter we received troublesome. I hope your day met your expectations. If you have not already exercised your creativity, I recommend you do it now. Maybe you could make a habit of doing one or more creative things each day. Devoting yourself to the task will enrich your life and you will be surprised how much you accomplish.

As a prompt, write about purpose. You may feel you have a grand purpose or none at all. Elaborate on your thoughts in a poem, story, journal entry, or note to expand on a later date. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Obtaining Proficiency

Beginner’s mind can
Barely see beyond surface
Of what should be done
Not knowing intricacies
To produce true perfection.

Imagination,
Creativity foremost
Lead forward, direct
Toward greater skillfulness,
And nobler accomplishment.

Everything is fresh,
New to those who are learning,
Discoveries are
Made with disciplines acquired,
Tantalizing education.

Each day brings extreme
Adventure on the pathway
To better knowledge,
Comprehensive expertise,
And more artful mastery.

I am getting this posted late because the meeting kept me. I enjoyed my Thursday and hope you did as well. No matter when you are reading this, I encourage you to devote time to creativity. You can accomplish so much if you let your imagination guide you.

As a prompt, write about being a beginner. You might want to focus on your feelings or goals. Everyone begins, and you have a tale to tell. Write it out in a poem, story, journal entry, or a note to elaborate on later. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Technological Penitent Prayer

Computers can be
An intricate mystery
Serving us quite well
And with almost no complaint
Until they suddenly stop.

Our world is then thrown
Into depths of confusion
We cannot escape
Without the aid of gurus
Who guard their expert knowledge.

We mere mortals are
At mercy of specialists
Who we but seldom
Understand and only hope
Will repair our dear machines.

When programs rebel
Leaving us in quandary
We must consult those
Who can rectify all our
Diverse computer problems.

We beseech every
One of those authorities
To exhibit grace
Toward those of us who need
Their generous assistance.

I am grateful:

1.   Even though I stayed up all night I was able to complete my tasks today.
2.   I read over 20 chapters in my new study Bible.
3.   I picked up the book my church is studying in Sunday School.
4.   God is in control, even when everything seems to be spiraling toward disaster.
5.   I have completed my 365 days of this Creativity Project.

This was a challenging Tuesday for me. I sincerely hope your day was much more pleasant. I sat myself down and completed what you see here, though I am not feeling particularly inspired. I attest that nothing is stopping you from practicing creativity. I thoroughly believe you have the imagination and ability to make whatever you desire, so do something to share with our world and perhaps make it a brighter place for someone.

As a prompt, write about how you survived a situation that went terribly wrong. You might write a poem, story, journal entry, or just a note to be expanded upon some other time. I know you can do it. If you should use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Thank you for being so kind as to read my blog. I regret this day was not more spectacular, but maybe it is exactly as it should be. I hope you have enjoyed your visit and encourage you to leave a comment and/or follow Chronicles. I do not know what the future holds for this blog, but I hope you will continue the journey with me. You are a big part of the reason I completed 365 days. You provide inspiration to carry on.

Jo Ann

Do not tell me
I cannot do all things
I set my mind and heart upon
Because I will without doubt prove you wrong
Nothing at all will prevent me
From doing everything
I aspire to do
