365 Creativity Project-Day 223

Instead of the usual journal entry, I wrote a story scene. I hope I might come back to it sometime and write more…

Journal 8-19-20120001

The poem today was prompted by The Sunday Whirl. The words found there are in italics. You might like to try your hand at creating something from the prompt, if so visit the site.

Making Of A Poem

Insidious waves
Nick the tinted drifts of thought
Spreading so gentle
Among the split decisions
Making preludes to poems.

Creativity
Reaches out to fix words in
Vivid arrangements,
Not appearing tinny on
Tip of a soft lisping tongue.

Every fading hour
Disengages from its limbs
Minutes filled with words
Circling about a point
Written down for the ages.

The poet creates
Lines to be long remembered,
At least by virtue
Of sentences etched on
Pages lasting forever.

Another shot of Edith Leigh…

I am grateful:

1.   I woke up at 8:00 this morning.
2.   My niece, Leigh, and great-niece Edith Leigh visited.
3.   They brought my books back.
4.   They took off the garbage.
5.   Mom cooked cabbage for lunch.

I hope you are relaxing this Sunday, but now is the time to create something wondrous. I know you have great things in your imagination just waiting for the opportunity to appear before the world. You are able to do whatever you set your mind to, so get busy.

As a prompt, write about a character in a difficult situation. This often leads to all sorts of ideas. See what happens when you try it. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

I am so happy you chose to read my blog. I would appreciate your thoughts or suggestions, so please leave a comment.

Far From Home

When you have nowhere
To go and nothing to do
Your heart travels back
To the place you have come from,
The home of your beginning.

Your memory brings
The best moments of you past
To your remembrance
And you create better times
From the great days long gone by.

You proceed into
Your promising future with
Great hope that carries
You forward and onward to
Whatever prospects you have.

Journal entry:

Journal 8-17-20120001

You may have noticed the words: beat, pressure, and substance in the above journal entry. They are also in the poem below and I found them at Three Word Wednesday. You might use the prompt at that site as well.

Artistic Contemplation

Give yourself a few
Moments to consider full
Implications of
All creative work you do,
Is it worth your energy?

Ponder the substance
Of the items you create,
Are they worth your time,
Or do you beat yourself up
For wasting days on vain things?

Do you melt under
Overwhelming pressure to
Succeed and excel?
Do you accept the challenge,
Simply do your very best?

You must give yourself
Permission to follow your
Heart, creating art,
Fulfilling your need without
Worrying to please others.

Do not cause yourself
Grief over what everyone
May think or believe,
Creativity transcends
And brings its own ecstasy.

Today’s poem is made up of Tweets I sent out during the day and a bit of additional work…

A Prayer For Us

May peace envelope us in
Its calmness. May we be held
safely above all turmoil. May we
Rise like evening stars above
Trouble’s treacherous horizon.

May all our adversaries
Be put to shame. May they come
To us with offerings of goodwill,
Working toward our good,
And not for their profit.

Not everything depends on
Others. Some things are resolved
Only within the self. The outside
World cannot totally
Rob us of our balance.

May we find endless love
Flowing from the universe
Into the midst of our lives
Filling us with such wonder
That we are overwhelmed.

May life become our success
As we remember we are full
Partakers in the promise
Fulfilled by our own
Great creativity.

3.   I remained calm while talking to the AT&T representative.
4.   I will be able to finish my creativity project here.

I hope you had a very good Thursday. Mine was respectable. I want you to take time to create something to share with the world now. You have the imagination to do so, if you will only dedicate yourself to it.

As a prompt, write a poem or story using a tweet, status, comment, or short note you wrote during the day. These small jottings we make can become something bigger, more beautiful. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

I am so grateful that my call with AT&T worked out well, because I did not want to give up my internet connection and my interaction with you. I thank you for choosing to spend a bit of your day with me. If you care to, please leave me a comment.

Journal 8-14-20120001

Today’s poem was prompted by the line at Carry On Tuesday. If you need a bit of inspiration, you might find it there.

My Favorite Things

Using computers
To connect with the others
Who brighten my life
Is a huge blessing for which
I am endlessly grateful.

Writing my poems
Hoping they will entertain
Those who may read them,
Spinning appropriate lines
With some enlightening words.

Petting my dog who
Adores me wholeheartedly,
Never complaining,
Spending her days in great bliss
Generously shared with me.

Taking photographs
Which capture the essence of
The things I observe,
Sharing them with people who
Enjoy striking images.

Reading awesome books
Which transport me to places
I cannot travel,
Meeting characters who live
In the confines of my mind.

Doing everything
Required to make life pleasant
For all the ones who
Depend on me for order
In their comfortable lives.

Joyous Exclamation

I am so happy.
There are reasons to be sad,
But I must refuse
To let myself indulge in
Any negativity.

I choose happiness.
Every day I pick feeling
Positive and good,
Even problems cannot bring
My spirits down into dust.

God fills my heart with
Joy that overflows into
Every corner of
My existence making me
Feel wonderfully alive.

I am so happy.
My days are filled with comfort,
I cannot complain,
I am blessed with miracles
Brightening each day I live.

I am grateful:

1.   AT&T woke me this morning so I got an early start to my day.
2.   I was able to write a note and have Mom sign it so she did not have to go inside the courthouse and wait in line for tags.
3.   I had enough money to pay my bills today.
4.   It rained this afternoon after I was finished being outside.
5.   I am completing this entry earlier than I have for several days.

I hope you had a good Monday. I was busy, but things went well. I hope you will take some time to do something creative now. Surely there is something you can write about, paint, or photograph. You must not underestimate yourself. God endowed you with imagination and creativity.

Journal 8-12-20120001

The following poem was prompted by the wordle at The Sunday Whirl. If you need inspiration you might find it there. The words in italics were given there.

Indubitably

My thoughts ricochet
Down the curvaceous narrow
Halls flooded with doubt,
There are no maps to lead me
Past alcoves of self-loathing.

No lace decorates
The walls which warp with pressure
That does not dwindle,
Invisible force can spin
My life out of my control.

Nothing confuses
Me so thoroughly I am
Unable to function
Because I believe God can
Help me accomplish my work.

Though I am unsure
Of myself and the right path,
I live with great hope
Knowing my abilities
Can bring me complete success.

Creativity
Gives me many chances to
Fill life with graces
Making things more bearable
For myself and some others.

1.   I woke up fairly early.
2.   I found the package, I thought lost, in the mailbox.
3.   Penny liked the baby food we bought for her.
4.   One large Flat Rate box held all the things we wanted to ship to Alex.
5.   I had not heard from Jana in a long time, but she called this evening.

I hope you had a rewarding Sunday. I did not think I could complete this project tonight, but I managed. You can accomplish something creative if you will set your mind on it.

For your prompt, write about your day. Give us as many details as you can remember. If you use this prompt please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Balancing Act

I ride the high wire
Stretched over the gaping chasm
Of certain defeat.

I make the better
Of the opportunities
Each day presents me.

Creativity
Makes me always active in
Accomplishing goals.

I attempt touching
The hearts of other people
With my own lifework.

I live each moment
To its fullest extent with
Total engagement.

2.   Penny is a little better.
3.   Jeremy came by and found the tractor malfunctioning, so he fixed it.
4.   I managed to mow the whole of the five acres that we cut.
5.   My shower was very refreshing.

I hope you had a good Saturday. It was another non-stop day for me, but I am very thankful I am able to do all the activity required. I would like for you to set aside a few moments to work creatively. There is so much you can accomplish if you put your mind to it.

As a prompt, write about the dangers of your day, this may be figurative as in my poem above. Think and write. Engage your imagination. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

I apologize for posting late again. Maybe tomorrow will allow me time to get this project completed earlier. I hope you have enjoyed your visit to my blog. If you have something to share, please leave a comment.

Creative Burst

Let your words explode
Onto the patient waiting
Page without stopping
To edit them as you write,
Let the explosion ignite.

Let your thoughts run free
Unfettered by any rules,
Which might somehow tame
Your grand imagination
Making it hard to create.

Let thoughts and words be
Combined into sentences
Sharing your heartfelt
Emotions with the people
Who peruse your fine pages.

Flights of Fancy

Imagination
Takes flight into the unknown,
Creativity
Brings your vision so alive
Others can participate.

Every day is yours
To experience and mold
Into beautiful
Creations completely new,
Totally original.

Your ability
To engage everyone else,
Mind and heart, is great
If you will commit yourself
To working creatively.

Allow miracles
To flow through your hands onto
Paper or canvas,
Bringing dreams into the world
Where people can share in them.

Creativity
Brings your vision full alive,
Imagination
Takes flight into the unknown
Conquering the universe.

I am grateful:

1.   Mom and I sat and talked for a couple of hours this morning.
2.   Oreo cookies and milk made a tasty breakfast.
3.   I called Jeremy and he said he will come out Saturday.
4.   I picked up Penny’s medicine at Sam’s Pharmacy.
5.   Hope seems calmer with the Thunder Shirt on.

This was a busy Thursday for me and I hope you accomplished a lot during your day. If you have not already exercised your creativity today, do it now. You impact the world with the things you choose to create. People are poorer when you leave your talents unused.

The prompt for today is to write about something you are not sure how you should handle. Maybe it is a relationship, a work situation, or even how to approach a project. See if your writing suggests a solution to your quandary. If you use this prompt please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

I had a hard time creating this entry. I was not in the least inspired, but I hope something in it was worthwhile. If you have suggestions or a comment, I would love to read your input.

Always,
Jo Ann
