Creativity Project Year Two-Day 87

I do not have a journal entry for you today. Instead I have the beginning of a story. One that could happen to any of us. My character just happens to be the unfortunate one…

My poem is in answer to the prompts at NaPoWriMo and Poetic Asides. I combined the challenges, but you certainly do not have to do as I have done. Just follow the links for inspiration.

Ample Prospect

I am
Plus sized in more
Ways than you even think
Body, mind, personality;
Plus sized.

You might
Think me a bit
Unattractive, but just
Give me an opportunity
To shine.

I will
Really surprise
You with intelligence,
God given talent that exceeds
Belief.

Take heart,
I will never
Disappoint you because
I am more than you expected;
God blessed.

I am
Plus sized in more
Ways than you even think
Body, mind, personality;
Plus sized.

I am grateful:

1.   I stayed up all night working, just lost track of time.
2.   I finished the new Sweetwater Camera Club Featured Members page for the May issue of the Chapel Hill News & Views.
3.   I designed this page from a blank template in InDesign CS6.
4.   My mentor was pleased with my work.
5.   The publisher was happy with it too.

03-2013SCC_FeaturedMembers_Proof

This is the page. The blank space at the bottom is for advertisements that the publisher will add.

I have had an extremely long Friday and am late getting this done, but it has been very rewarding. I hope your day was good. I encourage you to engage your imagination and create something to amuse the world. I know you have the ability if you will only use your creativity.

As a prompt, write about a situation in which words could go amiss. You might write a poem, a story, or a journal entry. This lends itself to tragedy or humor, which will you choose? Please leave a link to your work in the comments below should you use this prompt.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog. I apologize for my lateness with this entry. I could blame it on my mile walk with my puppy dog, Hope, except it was a tremendous joy. I hope you will find your way back here again, but you might want to enter your email address in the space provided above and subscribe to updates from Chronicles. If you have thoughts, suggestions, or criticism to share, please leave me a comment.

Always,
Jo Ann

Stormy Weather

Thunder
Rolling over
Us like they are bowling
In Heaven and my poor puppy
Dog, Hope, is frantic with apprehension.
She wants me to make room for her
In my lap, but I am
Busy just now,
Thunder…

Get yourself in gear and create something. You have unlimited resources of imagination at your disposal. Do not waste time in self doubt. I believe you have the talent to do marvelous things if you only apply yourself.

As a prompt, write about the weather where you are. You know we often converse about the weather in small talk, so just create a poem, story, or journal entry that explores the subject. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Thank you for taking time to read my blog. I hope you will return often, but I also suggest you enter your email above and subscribe to Chronicles. I cannot stress enough how much your feedback means to me. If you have thoughts, suggestions, or criticism to share, please leave a comment.

Hoke Smith, my instructor and president of the SCC, at Clinton Preserve.

Prevalent

In my life things go
Up, down, and all around,
Keeping me always
Guessing what will happen next,
Wondering about my success.

In my life I may
Never predict the outcomes,
But things have a way
Of working beneficially
Often quite surprisingly.

In my life I am
Not ever in full control,
But God always knows
His exact purposes with
Every event that happens.

In my life I make
The best of what I’m given
Trying to accept
The good along with the bad
With very little complaint.

In my life I count
Myself very fortunate
Because Jesus holds
My moments, hours, days, months, years,
Within His capable hands.

Be Aware

Wherever you are,
You are surrounded by love
Given so freely
By many who hold you in
The center of their soft hearts.

You are the apple
Of at least one somebody’s
Eye without question,
You may be unaware of
The person who holds you dear.

Even should you doubt,
Even should you have questions,
Love enfolds you in
Layers of great compassion
That will never desert you.

You may go searching
Fearing you will never find
The love of your life,
But believe he or she is
Near, you will surely find them.

Love is yours to be
Savored throughout existence,
It is always there
Enveloping you within
Its rich sweetness forever.

When you express your vision and share it, you enlighten others who may need to see as you do.

As a prompt, write a poem, story, or journal entry using some or all of the words: orders, supposed, packages, effort, linger, encounter, momentary, claimed, resting, commonly, surrounded, compassion. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Intricacy

Sometimes I wonder
How things have come to be as
They exist today,
We started out with so much
Less than we have presently.

People are growing
In greater complexity
With each passing day,
Aided by technology
That advances very fast.

Would those who lived just
One hundred years ago be
Totally surprised
By who we have now become
And the magic we perform?

Some days I even
Find myself almost amazed
By accomplishments
I am able to make with
Computer technology.

4.   The tractor was picked up for service.
5.   I thought to check Mom’s handicap placard and will be able to renew it before it expires on January 30th.

I hope your Tuesday was pleasant. Before you pack this day away as history take time to create something. You can write, paint, draw, take a photograph, or do whatever appeals to you.

As a prompt, write about how mood effects your creativity. Do you let your mood keep you from creating or do you work in spite of your feelings? When you are happy are you more imaginative or is it in somber moods when you create more? Write a poem, story, journal entry, or note to elaborate on later. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Meandering Thoughts

Wondering,
Wandering mind,
Wide ranging over
A variety of things
Leading in directions
That are new, different
Taking me to places never
Known, never experienced
In the totality of my life.
If I open my heart, soul,
To explore challenges
I have not faced in
Times before now
I can accomplish
Things beyond
My wildest
Dreams.

Purpose
Is not always
Easily discerned, but
Each of us is given tasks to
Accomplish in our lives if we will but
Concentrate upon our efforts
And realize God has
Requirements He
Gives us

You, no doubt, have the ability if you will only exercise it. The entire world awaits your work. You never know how much influence you can have until you make an effort.

As a prompt, write about something you anticipate doing this weekend. Work it into a poem, story, journal entry, or a simple note to refer to later. I am excited about my Nikon School class tomorrow and I expect you have something that brightens your days as well. Perhaps should you have nothing you are looking forward to, you should change your plans to make your weekend wonderful. Technological Penitent Prayer

Computers can be
An intricate mystery
Serving us quite well
And with almost no complaint
Until they suddenly stop.

Our world is then thrown
Into depths of confusion
We cannot escape
Without the aid of gurus
Who guard their expert knowledge.

We mere mortals are
At mercy of specialists
Who we but seldom
Understand and only hope
Will repair our dear machines.

When programs rebel
Leaving us in quandary
We must consult those
Who can rectify all our
Diverse computer problems.

We beseech every
One of those authorities
To exhibit grace
Toward those of us who need
Their generous assistance.

Two Worlds

There is a magic
To real life interaction,
Person to person,
Which cannot be captured by
Digital relationships.

There is nothing like
Looking into the eyes of
Another, seeing
The little gestures they make;
Text cannot express it all.

Technology is
Pleasing in ability
To connect us at
A distance, but it does not
Fully replace face to face.

If we are lucky
We have a life filled with both
Intimate friends and
Those we know only online;
Both worlds are very special.
