I do not have a journal entry for you today. Instead I have the beginning of a story. One that could happen to any of us. My character just happens to be the unfortunate one…

My poem is in answer to the prompts at NaPoWriMo and Poetic Asides. I combined the challenges, but you certainly do not have to do as I have done. Just follow the links for inspiration.

I am grateful:

1.   I stayed up all night working, just lost track of time.
2.   I finished the new Sweetwater Camera Club Featured Members page for the May issue of the Chapel Hill News & Views.
3.   I designed this page from a blank template in InDesign CS6.
4.   My mentor was pleased with my work.
5.   The publisher was happy with it too.

I have had an extremely long Friday and am late getting this done, but it has been very rewarding. I hope your day was good. I encourage you to engage your imagination and create something to amuse the world. I know you have the ability if you will only use your creativity.

I am grateful:

1.   Penny seems a little better.
2.   My computer is not broken.
3.   Best Buy had a workable power adapter.
4.   Mom rode to town with me.
5.   I am able to post tonight.

This Saturday has been a bit taxing, as always happens when my technology does not work as it should. I hope your day was relaxing and filled with happiness. Get yourself in gear and create something. You have unlimited resources of imagination at your disposal. Do not waste time in self doubt. I believe you have the talent to do marvelous things if you only apply yourself.

In my life things go

I am grateful:

1.   I did not have nightmares.
2.   Outlook worked well enough for me to send out email, after giving some difficulty.
3.   Norma was able to fix what I messed up on the webpage.
4.   I am able to admit my mistakes.
5.   Mom enjoyed the supper I cooked.

Be Aware

I am grateful:

1.   Electronic devices allow me to retain connection to friends and family around the world.
2.   Technology has made great advances in my lifetime.
3.   I remember when communication was more difficult.
4.   I still have the old skills although I have adopted newer ones.
5.   Reading and writing are still prominent.

This Wednesday was a bit of a disappointment because my packages did not arrive, but it ended well. I hope your day was rewarding and you accomplished much of what you wished. Intricacy

Sometimes I wonder
How things have come to be as

We started out with so much
Less than we have presently.

People are growing
In greater complexity
With each passing day,
Aided by technology
That advances very fast.

Would those who lived just
One hundred years ago be

By who we have now become

I am grateful:

1.   I am caught up with my Bible reading.
2.   I talked to Jeremy today.
3.   I stayed home.
4.   The tractor was picked up for service.
5.   I thought to check Mom’s handicap placard and will be able to renew it before it expires on January 30th.

I am grateful:

1.   The dietitian called and I gave her some information.
2.   I decided to call Mom’s doctor’s office and ask them to fax the lab results to me.
3.   My fax machine worked.
4.   I did not have to drive to town.
5.   Mom enjoyed the supper I prepared this evening.

This was a very good Thursday for me. I hope your day was also pleasant. I opened up my imagination and created something, you can do the same thing if only you make an effort. I know you have the ability to accomplish whatever you desire. No one can stop you.

I am grateful:

1.   I had energy to make it through this day.
2.   I left early enough.
3.   I was dressed appropriately.
4.   I won the free ticket to Nikon School.
5.   Mom decided to buy a GPS and I now feel confident to go to new places.
6.   The fraudulent charge on my bank account did not go through.
7.   I will have enough money to pay my phone bills.
8.   I took the remote for my camera and learned how to use it.
9.   I had a safe trip to the Waverly and back.
10. Mom got upset with me, but we worked it out.

I had an excellent Saturday although I found a letter we received troublesome. I hope your day met your expectations. If you have not already exercised your creativity, I recommend you do it now. I am grateful:

1.   I was able to get up early today even though I was up at 5:00am.
2.   Outlook has worked sporadically today, enough to let me do what I needed to do.
3.   I completed my tasks for the Sweetwater Camera Club webpage without any problem.
4.   I talked to my mentor, Richard, a few minutes.
5.   I got to see a video clip of Triple H this evening.

My Friday has been rewarding. I hope you accomplished all you wished today. Take time to imagine and create something that will enrich our world. You, no doubt, have the ability if you will only exercise it. The entire world awaits your work. You never know how much influence you can have until you make an effort.

Technological Penitent Prayer

Computers can be
An intricate mystery
Serving us quite well
And with almost no complaint
Until they suddenly stop.

Our world is then thrown
Into depths of confusion
We cannot escape
Without the aid of gurus
Who guard their expert knowledge.

We mere mortals are
At mercy of specialists
Who we but seldom
Understand and only hope
Will repair our dear machines.

When programs rebel

I am grateful:

1.   Richard, my mentor, called this morning and helped me get Outlook working.
2.   I was able to call the editor of the CHN&V and get the Sweetwater Camera Club meeting date for February changed before the magazine goes to press.
3.   I called the church and talked to Mary.
4.   I was able to figure out a minor problem with Outlook.
5.   Hoke Smith, the new president of the SCC, liked the page I sent out today and responded with a comment I wholeheartedly support.

Today has been troublesome for me, but I hope your Wednesday went well. Please take time to engage your creativity now and produce something that positively impacts our world. You have so many gifts to share.

There is a magic

Person to person,
Which cannot be captured by
Digital relationships.

There is nothing like
Looking into the eyes of
Another, seeing

A distance, but it does not
