Answer Bully

Tell me…
Do you really
Think it is at all fair
To discriminate against those
Who are somehow different than you are?
Do you believe you can call them
Names and make light of them
Without reason?
Tell me…

I am grateful:

1.   I was reminded to wear purple today.
2.   I took care of bills overnight.
3.   It was not very hot this afternoon.
4.   Even though I was in line about thirty minutes at the courthouse, it was not bad.
5.   I learned something about pedometers.

As usual, Friday was busy. I hope your day was not too hectic. Take a few moments to do something creative now. It will help fulfill your day and might enrich other lives.

Use the words, tell me, as your prompt. This could lead to a poem, story, or journal entry. Just let the words flow… If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I value your comments, so please feel free to leave one. Don’t forget to subscribe to Chronicles.

Overwhelming Love

Trouble may rattle
Me for a moment or two
But calm reasserts
Its power over me when
I lean on my Lord Jesus.

I know the storms will
Fade away in God’s presence
Which brightens my days,
My life blossoms in the light
Of His tremendous glory.

I will not be swept
Away by grave disaster,
But will find Christ’s grace
Sufficient to meet my needs
In every situation.

My many worries
Pale in significance when
Bathed in God’s great grace,
His mercy compensates for
My numerous shortcomings.

The Lord Jesus Christ
Fights my various battles
With His tremendous
Strength that overcomes problems
Bringing me His complete peace.

I am grateful:

1.   I woke up early this morning and felt great.
2.   Richard called and we discussed the turning of the leaves in the mountains.
3.   Wal-Mart had my cases of Diet Sam’s Cola so I did not have to buy the more expensive Diet Coke.
4.   I bought The Twelve by Justin Cronin at Sam’s Club.
5.   Discover agreed to give me a credit for most of the warranty that Wolf defaulted on because I was persistent.
6.   I was able to talk to my best friend, Reba, this evening.
7.   The mass on Reba’s daughter, Vicki’s liver was not cancerous.
8.   My toe is doing somewhat better.
9.   There is a fresh gallon of milk in the refrigerator.
10.  I have Oreo cookies and Nilla wafers a plenty.

I hope you had a pleasant Thursday. Most of my day turned out well. I had to be a firm and persistent negotiator, but I did not settle for defeat. You should not settle for less than creative productivity. You can make something that positively influences the world. So dedicate yourself to creation. Write, draw, paint, or take a photograph… You have the ability. I believe in your talent.

As a prompt, I would like for you to list at least five things for which you are grateful, then see if you can develop a story, poem, or journal entry from something in the list. If you are a visual artist, create a picture of something that symbolizes gratitude, or a thing for which you are grateful. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

I am so glad you visited my blog. If you have thoughts, suggestions, or criticism to share, please leave me a comment. If you have not already, you might consider following Chronicles.

Today’s poem was prompted by Poetic Asides. You might want to visit that site for some inspiration.

What Are You Doing?

I am taking time
To put order to my thoughts
Carefully marching
Words across the empty page
Hoping to entertain you.

I attempt to find
A phrase, a line, a sentence,
That will make you pause
Thinking deeply about those
Words I have written for you.

I do my best to
Make an impression on you
Which will last beyond
The moment you spend reading
These verses I share with you.

Some story starters:

Journal 10-16-20120001

I used the prompt from Carry On Tuesday to help me develop the following poem. If you need a few words to inspire you, please visit that site.

Simply Magic

I have no reason,
But it’s a kind of magic
Drawing me to you –
I am moved even across
All these years passed between us.

I do not forget
Many days happily spent
Within the circle
Of our arms wrapped so tightly
Around each other’s bodies.

We lived in a dream
Better than we expected,
A kind of magic
Filled each and every of our
Hours spent in love together.

I often miss you,
But life continues onward
Without your presence –
I make good my every day
And it’s a kind of magic.

2.   I uploaded my photos.
3.   My pajamas are comfortable.
4.   Days are getting cooler.

Tuesday is usually a little less hectic than Monday for most people. I hope it has been a good day for you. If you have not already engaged your creativity today, do it now. You have abundant talent you can use to make something wonderful to share with the world. Do not underestimate your abilities, but have confidence in your gifts.

As a prompt, write some starting sentences for stories. You don’t have to develop the stories now, but you may if you are drawn to do it. Follow your creative impulse. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Do Not Lament

We have not the time
To spend in deepest regret
Over the mistakes
We have made in days gone past,
But must live today in joy.

The things we have done
Are forgiven by the Lord.
We are set free from
All the sins we committed
By Jesus’ saving grace.

No matter what may
Happen in the world today
We are surrounded
By the loving care of God
And He will light our pathway.

We should live each day
So fully we never once
Become discontent
With what we have accomplished,
But rejoice with happiness.

We are the living
Representatives of faith
Placed by God on Earth
To reflect His righteousness
Before a grief stricken world.

The following poem uses the words given at The Sunday Whirl. They were quite a puzzle. The words in italics were in the wordle. If you are in need of a challenge, please visit that site.

Beyond Reason

I cannot stand those
Excuses accepted by
The majority
Of people who have become
Satisfied with status quo.

I have vowed I will
Not forget the deeper things
Learned during childhood,
I inherit the thunder
Of those who joined endless light.

My focus shifts from
The cozy umbrella of
Warm simplicity
To the eternal burning
Of my creativity.

I live the pleasure
Of making my life happen
With expectation
Of accomplishing the tasks
Fulfilling my fondest dreams.

No shadow falling
Over me will be allowed
To ever remain
Long beyond a moment, but
Will be cast away with care.

The Perfectionist

All right
Every detail
Must be exactly wrought
To standards of precise order
There can be no mistakes anywhere or
I have failed to live up to my
Proper expectations
Of perfection
All right

After All

Aggravation comes
Like a rainy day pouring
Agony droplets
Into a life unrehearsed
Flowing evermore onward.

My smile returns like
A rainbow emerging out
Of gray falling mists,
I cannot remain angry
Because I am so blessed.

Jesus fills my life
With unending streams of joy
That refresh my soul
Making my days flower like
A beautiful fertile field.

Today’s poem was prompted by Trifecta. You might enjoy visiting that site for inspiration.

Defying Mortality

He was taken by
Death away from this acreage,
And the shadow of
His passing hangs over this
Place falling into disuse.

The grass grows high and
Underbrush begins taking
Over the good land;
Death lingers on horizon
His scythe always at ready.

I live in the light
Hiding myself in brightness
Defying Death’s hand
Reaching out for my shoulder,
I will not go quietly.

I am well aware
That all my days are numbered,
But I happily
Pass the hours without worry,
Hoping Death will grow distant.

I nourish those who
Depend on me and nurture
Them with gentle care
Holding Death far separate
From everyone who I love.

The first line for the following poem was taken from the prompt at Poetic Asides. I hope you will visit that site should you need inspiration.

Not My Own

I’m not sure who I am or what I want,
But I know what I really need.
I need to be loved so completely
I never doubt my place in the world,
And in reality God so loves me.

I think I am a writer, a poet, an artist,
But you may disagree with me.
I want you to celebrate my work,
But am aware you may not find it
Worth your notice or accolades.

I’m not sure who I am or what I want,
But I am here, existing, taking steps
To realize my purpose though I am
Not certain what Jesus has in store
For this life I have devoted to Him.
