365 Creativity Project-Day 254

The poem that follows answers the prompt at Poetic Asides. If you are in need of inspiration you should visit that site.

Most Difficult

I was not prepared
To have it go horribly
Wrong, but had no choice
In the course of the events,
God was in complete control.

Pregnancies are by
Nature somewhat uncertain,
Twins even more so,
But complications arose
And there were difficulties.

At times I believed
Everything would be okay,
But I knew the risks
In Twin to Twin Transfusion
Syndrome were very severe.

When one precious twin
Died I was devastated,
Then I had to make
The choice of whether I would
Continue carrying one.

I was told she would
Most probably die also
Or be terribly
Handicapped, so I chose to
Let her go with heavy heart.

Sometimes I still blame
Myself for being selfish,
But I think it was
For the best even though it
Was the hardest choice ever.

I am grateful:

1.   I was able to sleep late.
2.   Alex called me last night.
3.   Laura called and came to pick up the shirts we had bought for Alex.
4.   Life is rewarding.
5.   I have a decent memory.

I hope you have had a wonderful Wednesday. Take some time to engage in a creative endeavor now. You cannot expect to improve your skills if you do not exercise them regularly. Make time to explore your imagination.

As a prompt write about a difficult choice you have made, or a choice that changed the course of your life. This should lead to an interesting piece of work. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Journal 9-18-20120001

The following poem was partially inspired by the prompt at Carry On Tuesday. You might enjoy visiting that site if you are in need of inspiration.

Passages

A little while, and
We will have grown much older;
A little while, and
We will have become bolder;
For time pushes us forward.

We go on toward
The finish, full of courage
And tenacity;
Our days we do not number
For their count seems limitless.

Only after time
Has passed into the future
Do we realize
There is just a little while
To accomplish all our goals.

We enter each hour
Hoping to find completion
Within its confines,
But the key is not hidden
In the outer dimensions.

A little while, and
We will discover ourselves;
A little while, and
We will make our peace with God;
Only He fulfills our days.

More Cabbage Patch Kids…

I am grateful:

1.   Mom woke me when I lay back down a few minutes this morning.
2.   I had unloaded the truck last night.
3.   We arrived early for our appointment.
4.   There was nothing serious wrong with the Explorer.
5.   Sam’s Club had the two books I wanted.

This is proving to be a long day for me because I was up so early. I hope your Tuesday has been profitable. Take time out of your busyness to work creatively. It will add value to your day and give you a deeper sense of accomplishment. Every second you spend using your imagination enriches the world.

As a prompt write about the passage of time. Explore the moments of your day, or the passage of ages. Whatever suits your fancy. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Thank you so much for spending time reading my blog. I hope you found it enjoyable. If so, you might consider following Chronicles. I know you may have thoughts, suggestions, or criticism to share, so I urge you to leave a comment. Each one is precious to me.

Sharing Inspiration

I have no wisdom
To share with others today,
But sit here alone
Thinking, wondering about
Saying something to move you.

Do I have the words
To enlighten and challenge,
Making you explore
Your own creativity
And use your resourcefulness?

I am just like you,
A traveler on these paths
Leading to wonders
I have yet to encounter,
I want to mark my passing.

You may be better
Trained to memorialize
Steps of your journey
Passing on knowledge you gained
While making your own pathway.

Our world becomes rich
When experience is shared
With those we by chance
Come upon along the way
To our outstanding success.

I am grateful:

1.   I was able to take a nap this morning.
2.   I made an appointment to take the truck to be serviced and find out what caused it to lose coolant.
3.   Hope is okay even though she fell off the table this afternoon.
4.   Mom enjoyed the supper I cooked.
5.   It rained during the night and some during the day.

I hope your Monday has gone well. Mine has been quiet. I encourage you to put your imagination to work and create something. No matter how uninspired you may feel working at writing or art will enrich your day. As you work you may very well find inspiration comes to you.

As a prompt, write about some wisdom you have to share. This could be advice, encouragement, or anything you feel worth passing on to others. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

The poem today is in answer to the prompt at The Sunday Whirl. The words in italics were given there. This was not easy, but you might enjoy the challenge, so by all means visit that site.

More Than An Exterior

The lilting pattern
Of alliteration brings
The lyric to life
In rich sensuous tones of
Voice filled with artist color.

The exterior
With silent tresses flowing
Appears to peering
Eyes just slightly beautiful
When seen in deep silhouette.

The words saunter by
Leaving pleasant echoes in
Ears fully focused
On the beguiling accents
Of every delicious line.

The poet reasons
The self is not important
Only the verses
Have true meaning shining bright
To illuminate the dark.

The finely tuned words
Marching across fields of white
Capture the essence
Of imaginative thought
And great creativity.

1.   I woke up fairly early despite staying up very late.
2.   I enjoyed my Oreo cookies for breakfast.
3.   I crushed two bags of cans and will soon have enough to recycle.
4.   Leigh came to get our trash and visited a while.
5.   Penny has eaten well today.

I hope your Sunday has been relaxing and enjoyable. I have taken it easy, but I chose to create. I urge you to put your imagination to work. Use your creativity to make something beautiful.

As a prompt write about an occasion when your resourcefulness saved the day. You probably give yourself little credit for day to day rescues, but take time to think about it. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Not Mine Alone

What I have done is
Not mine alone to claim, but
A gracious gift of
God’s total magnificence,
He made of me what I am.

I could never hope
To accomplish anything
Without the aid of God
For I am weak and lowly,
Not given to great success.

I am reminded
My talents are gifts granted
Me to help others
And further the work of God’s
Kingdom in our troubled world.

Any accolade
I may gain is shared with God
Because He guides me,
He is my life’s salvation,
To Jesus be all glory.

I am grateful:

1.   I went to the Sweetwater Camera Club meeting last night.
2.   I entered three photographs in the contest, and one won honorable mention.
3.   I talked to the president of the club and am going to be learning to do the page in the local magazine.
4.   I cleaned out the truck today.
5.   God is my constant help and blesses me beyond my dreams.

I hope you have had a remarkable Friday. I know you are gifted with talents that you may not even imagine. I urge you to engage your creativity and make something wonderful. Even a sentence can express greatness, or a simple photo. Give yourself permission to use your unlimited imagination. You have so much to share with the world.

As a prompt explore your relationship with your talents. How do you feel about them? What can you do to increase them? Is there a particular practice you use to ignite your creativity? Explore one or all of these things or something else entirely. You are the master of your imagination. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

I am grateful:

1.   I went to bed early last night and woke up at 5:45 this morning.
2.   I went to town alone.
3.   I found a nice pair of booties for Mom and she liked them.
4.   Since Wal-Mart did not have the drinks I wanted, I decided to get Diet Cokes and I had enough money for them.
5.   I bought Oreo cookies at Sam’s Club.

It was nice to be up at sunrise and see the light gradually bring things into focus. I hope your day was rewarding. If you have not already, it is time for you to use your creativity. Do something imaginative and share it with the world. You might light up someone’s world.

Journal entry:

Journal 9-11-20120001

Today’s poem was prompted by Carry On Tuesday. I hope you will visit that site for an imagination jump start.

What Is A Friend?

Our connected world
Has given us many new
Opportunities
To redefine what friendship
Means for us in present days.

I now have some friends
Who I may never meet in
Person because we
Are separated by miles
I will not ever traverse.

These friends are very
Important and do brighten
My days with presence
In my life even though we
Connect through our computers.

We share our moments,
Small triumphs and tragedies
Overwhelming us,
We pray for one another
Cementing every friendship.

We love each other
Though we are separated
In geography,
Our lives become far richer
Because we exist as friends.

1.   I posted my blog entry early yesterday.
2.   I was able to go into town and get a new modem.
3.   AT&T called me back and helped me network the laptops.

5.   Marty and I were able to get the all-in-one on the network.

In Memory of 9/11/01

One September Morning

One September morning
The entire world awoke
With no inkling or forewarning
Cherished dreams would die in smoke.

Another Tuesday
Like so many others…
No one apprehended that day
Would affect so many mothers.

One September morning
Terrorists tried to destroy
Our country without warning,
However, it did not work, their ploy.

Another Tuesday
That will live forever;
The bravery and sorrow of the day,
We will not forget, not ever.

One September morning
Love reached out calling
Even as we all began mourning,
Our nation was not falling.

Another Tuesday
When God was in control
Although throughout that dark day
The catastrophe tried every soul.

One September morning
Remembered by history;
A brilliantly promising morning
In a place proud and free.

Another Tuesday
When America found unity…
No matter what people might say,
We still have our liberty.

One September morning
When the whole world did cry
With new respect aborning
For the noble flag, we yet fly…

I wrote this just before the first memorial service at our church and the pastor read it to the congregation in the service.
