Long Suffering

I have suffered much
Because I continued in
Loving you beyond
The time you were in love with
Me, but I persist no more.

I have hidden all
The pictures and there were no
Things to remind me,
Because you let scavengers
Take all my valuables.

I had to build my
Life again from nothing, and
Recovery has
Taken me a number of
Years and so many dollars.

Sometimes I wish you
Great heaping disaster, but
I know forgiveness
Frees me of the bitterness,
So I try to wish you well.

I believe there is
Eventual justice for
People such as you,
But as for me, happiness
Has come again finally.

I am grateful:

1.   I do not have to work outside because the pollen is awful.
2.   My chiropractor worked with me today.
3.   I stopped to find out what the Sheriff’s department was doing.
4.   I am brave enough to ask questions of authority figures nowadays.
5.   I was able to reach Jeremy this afternoon.

I have had a reasonably good Wednesday. I hope your day exceeded your expectations. If you have not already done some creative work, I encourage you to do it now. I find it makes the day complete in a way nothing else can do. You try it and see if it does not give you great satisfaction.

Hold That Jaundiced Outlook

Don’t look at me with
Envious accusing eyes,
I have just as much
A right to express myself
As do you loftier ones.

You may still believe
Your advantages will buy
You a greater share
Of everyone’s attention,
But I own a voice as well.

Keep those unfair thoughts
Within your own shuttered minds,
Without spreading your
Bitterness throughout this our
Fair social environment.

My experience
Is worthy of chronicling
Just as is your own
With great creativity
And wild imagination.

Remember freedom
Belongs to each one of us
No matter our wealth,
We are fortunate people
Who can achieve all our dreams.

I am grateful:

1.   I got up in time to go to town today.
2.   The CHN&V magazines were available at the mall.
3.   I had my Droid and was able to call Mom at home.
4.   Wal-Mart still had Easter candy and I was able to get some at half price.
5.   It did not rain on me while I was out.

My Thursday went quite well. I hope your day was pleasurable. If you are not too busy, I recommend you engage your creativity and make something you can share with others. It can be writing, photographs, crafts, art, or anything you can imagine. The point is to use the multitude of talent that lies within you.

Debunk The Lie

I was in darkness
Trapped for such a long, long time
Believing the lie
Writers could be blocked and left
Unable to produce work.

I was ignorant
Though I had read so often
That simply writing,
No matter my own feelings,
Would allow words liberty.

You may be shrouded
In the deepest darkest gloom
Of a Writer’s Block,
But I urge you to make haste
To take up your tools and fight.

You can overcome
The lie that holds you within
The dark and break out
Into creativity’s
Overwhelmingly bright light.

I have learned, as can
You, devotion can lead to
Much accomplishment,
Just keep your hand moving and
Get all the words on the page.

I am grateful:

1.   God gave me another good day.
2.   My handmade pens arrived today, thanks to Nathan Carver of Carver’s Custom Pens.
3.   Penny ate well this evening.
4.   I was able to get the lid off the dog food bucket and fill the food bowls.
5.   Tomorrow I will have money again.

I enjoyed my Tuesday and hope you did also. Do not believe in Creative Block! You have the ability to make something wonderful if you will only devote yourself to doing it. I used to let myself think that I was blocked… Now I am sure I wasted much time and I regret it. Do not submit to the lie, get busy and create.

With Apologies To Rumi

My work is to carry this love,
Freely given to me, to those
With whom I have contact each day.

I must love others as I love
Myself, forever doing my
Best to foster more happiness.

This is the new command given
For each of us to follow at
All times without any question.

Unconditionally loving
Is not be very easy for
Us, but we should always try it.

We should teach it to our children
So life treats them beneficially
And they spread peace throughout the world.

Love, not judgment, should always be
Our goal within society,
Encouraging everyone else.

I am grateful:

1.   I have an opportunity to write each day.
2.   I have passed 1000 posts on this blog.
3.   I have passed 200 blog followers.
4.   My niece, Leigh, surprised us by visiting this evening with my great-nephew, Jesse, and great-niece, Sydney.
5.   I have enough poems to perhaps make a collection.

This has been a very good Monday. I hope you have achieved your goals for the day. Now, while you have an opportunity, I encourage you to engage your imagination and work creatively. You can accomplish so much if you only make an effort. I wrote about some of my victories and I believe you can achieve just as much. Just devote yourself to doing something.

Wordsmith’s Purpose

I am a wordsmith
Forging letters into words
And words into lines,
Which encourage and inspire
People who peruse my work.

My desire is to
Set the imagination
Afire within each
One who reads my faithful lines,
Blazing bright creatively.

Sometimes I fall short
And cannot fully convey
My meaning to minds
And hearts because I lack some
Element artistically.

Yet I continue
Attempting to bring to life
Something so special
It changes the fabric of
My reader’s whole existence.

I want each person
To realize their great worth
Using their own gifts,
Talents, creativity,
To impact the living world.

I am grateful:

1.   I got up early enough to go to town.
2.   The return at Best Buy went smoothly.
3.   I decided to fill the truck with gasoline.
4.   Wal-Mart had Cream of Asparagus Soup.
5.   I had enough money for all I got today and did not overdraw my account.

This was a very fortunate Thursday for me. I hope your day also went well. While you have a few moments, engage your mind creatively. There is much you can do if you will only make an effort. No dreams ever materialized without work.

In Passing

Here I am again
Writing out my many lines,
In hope of reaching
Someone’s heart, making my voice
Heard beyond this lonely space.

There you are reading
These words I so carefully
Chose to place before
Your eyes with the intention
Of influencing your thought.

Everywhere I go
I try to capture something
Of the essential
Quality of life’s meaning
And distill it into verse.

Here, there, everywhere
I gather up the phrases
That will somehow change
Or impact lives in contact

I am grateful:

1.   I stayed home all day.
2.   My package came, so I have the right power adapter for my laptop.
3.   Mom went out with her best friend, June.
4.   My hair does not require cutting as often as Mom’s does.
5.   My life is not as stressful as those of some others.

I like Tuesdays like today, when I can stay home and enjoy the peace and relative quiet. I hope your day was full of joy and smiles. Now I urge you to engage your imagination in doing something creative. Your mind is filled with ideas that will appeal to other people. You just have to excavate the treasure you possess within you. I am not endowed with any special quality that you do not also embody. So if I can work creatively, so can you.

I am grateful:

1.   I woke up this morning.
2.   The day was beautiful though there was a chill in the air.
3.   I can read and write.
4.   I can balance a checkbook.
5.   I have friends who support me through prayer.

Desolation With Hope

You reminded me
How lonely I can be
Without nearby friends
To keep me company.

I was doing fine
Here on my own, alone,
Using up my time
Avoiding loneliness.

Now I am aware
Of the friendship I lack
And cannot pretend
I really do not care.

I wish there were some
Way to transplant you here
So I could see you
Again very often.

Maybe I should look
For others to fill in
The empty space where

I am grateful:

1.   I took time to pay some of the bills today.
2.   I got medicine for Penny’s ears.
3.   I called and found out what dosage of medicine to give Hope.
4.   I took my camera when I went to town.
5.   We had Subway sandwiches for supper.

My Thursday went well, although I am nursing two sick puppy dogs. I hope your day was pleasant. Now I suggest you use your imagination to create something outstanding. If I can do this, just think what more you can accomplish when you put your mind to it.

I am grateful:

1.   There is time enough to work creatively.
2.   I don’t have to keep up with all my email, though I like to do so.
3.   I called the vet today about Penny and am going to get something to help her.
4.   Mom enjoyed the supper I prepared.
5.   My class tonight showed me some new techniques.

This was a good Wednesday. I hope you found some happiness in your day. Creativity enhances our lives and the lives we touch through our work. I am grateful:

1.   I slept well and felt rested when I woke up.
2.   We were able to cash Mom’s check.
3.   Mom’s test results were very good.
4.   I did not have to prepare supper.
5.   I got some of the work done on the Sweetwater Camera Club website.
