Technological Penitent Prayer

Computers can be
An intricate mystery
Serving us quite well
And with almost no complaint
Until they suddenly stop.

Our world is then thrown
Into depths of confusion
We cannot escape
Without the aid of gurus
Who guard their expert knowledge.

We mere mortals are
At mercy of specialists
Who we but seldom
Understand and only hope
Will repair our dear machines.

When programs rebel
Leaving us in quandary
We must consult those
Who can rectify all our
Diverse computer problems.

We beseech every
One of those authorities
To exhibit grace
Toward those of us who need
Their generous assistance.

I am grateful:

1.   Richard, my mentor, called this morning and helped me get Outlook working.
2.   I was able to call the editor of the CHN&V and get the Sweetwater Camera Club meeting date for February changed before the magazine goes to press.
3.   I called the church and talked to Mary.
4.   I was able to figure out a minor problem with Outlook.
5.   Hoke Smith, the new president of the SCC, liked the page I sent out today and responded with a comment I wholeheartedly support.

Wee Little Faith

God is…
And He alone
Is in total control
Of each and every one of my
Situations, He holds my life within
His blessedly capable hands,
I can fully depend
On His mercy
God is…

I am grateful:

1.   Even though I stayed up all night I was able to complete my tasks today.
2.   I read over 20 chapters in my new study Bible.
3.   I picked up the book my church is studying in Sunday School.
4.   God is in control, even when everything seems to be spiraling toward disaster.
5.   I have completed my 365 days of this Creativity Project.

This was a challenging Tuesday for me. I sincerely hope your day was much more pleasant. I sat myself down and completed what you see here, though I am not feeling particularly inspired. I attest that nothing is stopping you from practicing creativity. I thoroughly believe you have the imagination and ability to make whatever you desire, so do something to share with our world and perhaps make it a brighter place for someone.

As a prompt, write about how you survived a situation that went terribly wrong. You might write a poem, story, journal entry, or just a note to be expanded upon some other time. I know you can do it. If you should use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Thank you for being so kind as to read my blog. I regret this day was not more spectacular, but maybe it is exactly as it should be. I hope you have enjoyed your visit and encourage you to leave a comment and/or follow Chronicles. I do not know what the future holds for this blog, but I hope you will continue the journey with me. You are a big part of the reason I completed 365 days. You provide inspiration to carry on.

Always,
Jo Ann

Declaration Of Intent

No, no,
Do not tell me
I cannot do all things
I set my mind and heart upon
Because I will without doubt prove you wrong
Nothing at all will prevent me
From doing everything
I aspire to do
In time

I am grateful:

1.   I woke up well rested.
2.   Richard, my mentor, called and remotely added some mailing lists to my computer.
3.   Mom rode to town with me.
4.   I was able to get CHN&V magazines to take to the club meeting on Thursday.
5.   Mom and I bought some wonderful Bibles at Family Christian Store.

This was a very productive Monday for me. I hope you accomplished all you set out to do today. Now I challenge you to set aside time to engage your creativity. You have a wonderful imagination and you should use it. You have many talents worth exploring, so get busy.

As a prompt, write about books. Being a writer, artist, or reader, I know you have a relationship with the printed word. Write a poem, story, journal entry, or note involving books. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Two Worlds

There is a magic
To real life interaction,
Person to person,
Which cannot be captured by
Digital relationships.

There is nothing like
Looking into the eyes of
Another, seeing
The little gestures they make;
Text cannot express it all.

Technology is
Pleasing in ability
To connect us at
A distance, but it does not
Fully replace face to face.

If we are lucky
We have a life filled with both
Intimate friends and
Those we know only online;
Both worlds are very special.

I am grateful:

1.   Hope seems to be feeling okay.
2.   Hope and I walked a mile this afternoon.
3.   Penny appears to be gaining a little weight.
4.   I have warm clothes to wear when it is cold.
5.   I can see, and so can read and write.

It has been a quiet Sunday here. I hope your day was relaxing. Now I ask you to put your imagination to work and do something creative. This day will be immeasurably enriched by your contribution. I know you have the ability to make whatever you choose, because I believe anyone can produce as I do.

As a prompt, write a memory from your childhood. Any memory will do, just make a poem, story, or journal entry of it. If you use this prompt, leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Passing Moments

The time
We spend or waste
Never returns to us,
It is a river we cannot
Wade into or swim through ever again
For it flows fast away without
Leaving us any trace
But lines on our
Faces

I am grateful:

1.   My sleep was undisturbed last night.
2.   The GPS helped me get to my destination.
3.   The lady at Champ’s Clock Shop told me I can return anytime I like and take more pictures.
4.   Jeremy and Christy did not mind my stopping by.
5.   Outlook was malfunctioning, but it seems to have begun working properly again.

My Saturday was rather busy, I hope your day was pleasant. I suggest you take time to create before you end your day. Every time you make something you add value to our world. We need your contribution if you are willing to create it.

As a prompt, write about a clock, watch, or time that has had influence on your life. I remember a black crazy cat clock that was in my room from a very young age. Its tail counted the moments of my days. Perhaps you remember a particular timepiece… Write a story, poem, journal entry, or whatever comes to your mind. If you use this prompt, leave a link to your work in the comments below.

A Cheering Mile

The happy sun smiled
Down from a cloudless blue sky
Lifting my spirits
As I walked beneath the rays
It poured out upon my path.

The cold seemed so out
Of place in shining brightness,
But it was bracing,
Justifying my heavy
Sweater to keep me cozy.

Hope pranced with gladness
Enjoying her time outside,
Her joy made me grin
And wonder why I do not
Do this more often again.

Walking is not hard
It only takes a little
Of my busy time,
I need to make it into
A habit of healthy life.

I am grateful:

1.   Hope finally stopped coughing.
2.   I took a nap and caught up on some sleep.
3.   I decided to take a walk with Hope.
4.   This is day 361 of my Creativity Project.
5.   I take time to write this list each day and so am more mindful of the good things in my life.

I hope you enjoyed your Friday. Mine did not go exactly as I planned, but it was a good day. I challenged myself to do something creative and you should too. You will never know what you can achieve if you do not make an effort. I am sure you can do more than you imagine.

As a prompt, write about your experience of being outdoors today. Maybe you have not thought about how beautiful nature is lately, no matter the weather there is something pleasant about being outside. Write. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

I am so glad you found your way to my blog. I would love to have your thoughts, suggestions, or criticism, so please leave a comment. If you enjoyed your visit, perhaps you would like to subscribe to Chronicles.

Living Unresolved

A new year begins,
I have no resolutions;
Failing so many,
I resolved to never make
Any promises to break.

It simplifies things,
There is less disappointment;
I just move along
With the flow as life goes on
Leaning on God, doing my best.

I am grateful:

1.   I woke up very early.
2.   My dream gave me a good idea.
3.   I decided to go see if Family Christian Store was open even though I have received no emails from them in a while.
4.   Ross had dog treats that the dogs seem to like a lot.
5.   I found some devotionals to read this year.

I had a very good Thursday. I hope your day was pleasant as well. Please take time to do something creative now before your day is over. There is no reason to keep you from using your imagination. It is free, easy, and very beneficial, so get busy.

As a prompt, write about something unresolved. This might be a situation, relationship, or simply a lack of resolution. Write whatever appeals to you. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Farewells

Goodbye
Is not easy
To say to those you love
With all your heart and very soul,
But it has to be done from time to time.
When it is all said and done, you
Must say fervent prayers that
You will soon meet
Again

I am grateful:

1.   I was able to go back to sleep after being awakened by a phone call at 6:00 this morning.
2.   Alex called this afternoon.
3.   Alex and Laura came out to the house and saw Mom.
4.   I called ahead so we were seated sooner at Outback.
5.   I was able to drive home safely.

I hope your Tuesday has been a good one. I rather enjoyed my day although saying goodbye to Alex was bittersweet. Now, while you are able, put your imagination to work and create something. I know you have the ability, you must only make an effort.

As a prompt, write about saying goodbye to someone or something you care about. I remember when I was a child I had a special way of saying goodbye to the lake at the end of Summer, you may recall something similar. Just write whatever is on your heart. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

I am so thankful you took time out of your busy life to read my blog. If you have thoughts, suggestions, or criticism to share with me, please leave a comment. Should you wish to get daily updates, you may subscribe to Chronicles.

Journal 1-1-20130001

I began writing a status on Facebook, and it morphed into this poem. I particularly like its shape on the page…

January 1st

Raining slowly, quietly,
Just a pitter-patter
As the sky softly weeps.

This day,
Like all days,
Slips quickly away.

Blank pages of a new year
Written upon by actions taken,
Opportunities passed by.

Love wraps around
Keeping us safe,
Heating hearts.

We make our way into
Mystery provided by
Delight of oncoming days.

Fortuitous Risk

Do what you can
For whoever you can,
And pray the Lord’s blessing
Upon every action you take.

Know God is with you
In each moment you live,
Share your happiness
With others you touch.

Be willing to be used
In whatever capacity
The Lord may choose
And He will give you a chance.

Opportunity may come
When it is least expected,
So be prepared to act
According to God’s leading.

2.   Mom is supportive when I want to do something a bit unusual.
3.   Reba called me today.
4.   I called Bernice.
5.   Things fit in the envelope, though I did not think they would.
