April PAD Challenge, poem six:

Now Long Gone

His laugh infectious,
He hurried away
Quieting himself down
And hiding somewhere
Within the house.

We would then tell
Our Shih Tzu, Penny,
“Go find Alex!
Where is Alex?”
Off she would go.

Penny would prance
From place to place
Her head held high
Nose twitching
Until she found him.

Then she would bark
With unbridled joy
Because she had
Once again successfully
Found her boy.

Those days are hidden
Long in the past, only
Echoing memories remain
Penny is an old dog,
Alex a grown man.

April PAD Challenge, poem 5:

The One I Praise

Prophets of God foretold
His coming. Born of the Father
And an innocent virgin. Hunted,
But protected to grow in wisdom.
He became a man who called
Disciples to follow and witness.
He healed the blind, lame, deaf,
Possessed, and any other who
Came with even little faith.
He was hated by many who
Misunderstood Him as they
Had the Father before Him.
They tried Him, and though
He did no crime they found
Him guilty, and called for His death.
They crucified Him, and the Son
Of God died upon a cruel cross.
He was buried, hidden in a tomb,
But death could not hold Him.
Jesus rose and appeared to many,
Then the Father received Him
Into Heaven where He waits
To return and gather His children
Home to spend eternity in
Heaven with Him.
If you do not know Him personally
Become His friend and join the
Saints who will live with Him forever.

April PAD Challenge, poem 4:

100% Caring

The days amble by
With fertile moments
Filled by multiple tasks
That must be finished.

Giving medicine, preparing
Food, encouraging eating,
Following schedules, driving
Wherever we must go.

Never forgetting that
Others rely upon my
Constant dedication to
Keeping everything done.

Living and loving deeply
Keeping my household
Uppermost in my mind
And utmost in my heart.

April PAD Challenge, poem 3:

Dear Doctor Tulman

I apologize for not coming
To see you more often,
But there is good reason.

Every time I visit
Your office I must spend
Outrageous amounts of money.

I realize it is my fault
For having these weak
And blurring eyes.

Still I must limit myself
Living fuzzily at times
Because I have few funds.

April PAD Challenge, poem two:

Unwanted Visitor

It is ever present
Only a heartbeat
Away from everyone,
But only visits once.

It comes stealthily,
Unwelcome, uninvited,
Bringing discomfort
For all it touches.

It takes the good,
The evil, without judging
Anyone’s virtue or merit
It has no feeling anyway.

It is the great leveler
Making all lives equal
With its faithful stroke,
Death, life’s final visitor.

My poem for today:

Fitful Communication

Weeks go by with no word,
But I know he is there
On his side of the world
Doing his best without complaint.

We are connected despite
The distance separating us.
The internet gives a way
To share our little triumphs.

He says he is almost twenty four,
He has a wife, and things are
Different now, but I am still
His mother, loving him completely.

He is busy, tired, overworked,
I am available, willing, ready,
Whenever he can make the time
For us to share communication.

A few moments of messaging
With him multi-tasking makes
My day worthwhile because
More than anything, I love him.
