Home

This was not my place
I lived out in my own space
With a distinct home,
So I only visited
My Mom who was living here.

My fortunes then changed
I was displaced, my space lost,
In that troubled time
My Mom kindly took me in,
Gave my son and I a home.

For years I have lived
Upon this fine property
Enjoying the gift
Of the place’s loveliness
And Mom’s generosity.

This has now become
The location my heart longs
To return after
I have been another place,
It is my permanent home.

April Poem A Day Challenge, poem twenty-seven:

The Trouble Is Me

I could easily
Fall prey to blaming others
For my own problems,
But that is not my manner
Of dealing with existence.

My choices have cost
Many opportunities
To further my life,
Consequences developed
Because of headstrong actions.

The life I now live
Is not always everything
I would desire it
Should be, but the trouble is
Undoubtedly found in me.

I have the power
To change the circumstances,
Building destiny
That fulfills my fondest dreams
Relying on my talents.

The trouble is me,
But the solution also
Depends on actions
That I can easily take
Creating much better days.

April Poem A Day Challenge, poem twenty-six:

Hope

I was so lonely,
My son was gone far away,
Sadness dogged my days;
Then one Sunday after church
My life was drastically changed.

Wal-Mart’s parking lot
Held the sweet surprise needed
To bring me bright smiles;
Shih Tzu puppies were on sale
And one captured my whole heart.

Mom and I went in
The store to shop, but I was
Caught in intense thought;
I decided I could not
Quite afford a puppy dog.

When we went outside
Mom suggested that I should
Get the little pup;
She convinced me it was right
So I bought the pretty girl.

On the way back home
We discussed giving her an
Appropriate name;
Mom suggested Hope because
She would need it to survive.

Hope became her name
And every day she has brought
Brightness to my life;
She is my sweet companion
Bringing me great happiness.

April PAD Challenge, poem eight:

Rejected Again

I sent a request
Knowing she was part
Of your life now,
But hoping our history
Would mean something
To you even still.

I thought Facebook
Was safe enough,
Removed from intimacy,
That you would allow
Our cyber friendship,
But you denied me.
