In Passing

Here I am again
Writing out my many lines,
In hope of reaching
Someone’s heart, making my voice
Heard beyond this lonely space.

There you are reading
These words I so carefully
Chose to place before
Your eyes with the intention
Of influencing your thought.

Everywhere I go
I try to capture something
Of the essential
Quality of life’s meaning
And distill it into verse.

Here, there, everywhere
I gather up the phrases
That will somehow change
Or impact lives in contact
With mine through these expressions.

Will anyone long
Remember or soon forget
What I have written
Of my life’s experience;
Just here, there, and everywhere.

I am grateful:

1.   I stayed home all day.
2.   My package came, so I have the right power adapter for my laptop.
3.   Mom went out with her best friend, June.
4.   My hair does not require cutting as often as Mom’s does.
5.   My life is not as stressful as those of some others.

I like Tuesdays like today, when I can stay home and enjoy the peace and relative quiet. I hope your day was full of joy and smiles. Now I urge you to engage your imagination in doing something creative. Your mind is filled with ideas that will appeal to other people. You just have to excavate the treasure you possess within you. I am not endowed with any special quality that you do not also embody. So if I can work creatively, so can you.

As a prompt, write about what you think might happen if you suddenly disappeared. You might handle this as a poem, story, or journal entry. If you use the prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below. I look forward to reading what you create.

Thank you so much for reading my blog. I hope you will come back to visit often, but you might also want to enter your email above and subscribe to Chronicles. I am always glad to receive your comments. Your words encourage and challenge me to continue this Creativity Project.

Always,
Jo Ann

The focus is a little off in the following photo, but I like the dreamy feeling of it. The colors really stand out.

Recollections

Echoes
Stray across my
Mind, reminding me of
Times regulated to the past
Where memories are left to fade away;
So I, after these many years
Gone by, cannot assert
Any control,
Echoes…

This was a good Wednesday. I hope you found some happiness in your day. Creativity enhances our lives and the lives we touch through our work. I encourage you to invest some time in exploring your imagination. Give yourself a chance to work without engaging your critic. Just create for the joy of it…

As a prompt, use the word echoes in a poem, story, or journal entry. Let your mind wander and make connections to that word. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Thank you so much for reading my blog. I hope you will visit often, but you might also want to enter your email above and subscribe to Chronicles. If you have thoughts, suggestions, or criticism to share, please leave a comment. Tell me what is working and what you would like to see done differently here. I welcome your ideas.

Always,
Jo Ann

Ko-Ko…

Delivered From Trouble

The creatures are all
A bit tired and lethargic
Because I bathed them,
I am almost exhausted
Because I stayed up all night.

I went into town,
Doing all the shopping that
Was necessary
And a bit extra for fun
Of after Valentine’s Day.

Jesus went with me,
I know, because I was kept
Safe from accident,
Almost inevitable
When I came close to wrecking.

Every single day
I am held within the palm
Of the Lord’s outstretched
Hand, I am full protected
In the goodness of His love.

Love envelopes me
In a wonderful embrace
That never lets go
And I am fully convinced
Christ is author of it all.

Be Aware

Wherever you are,
You are surrounded by love
Given so freely
By many who hold you in
The center of their soft hearts.

You are the apple
Of at least one somebody’s
Eye without question,
You may be unaware of
The person who holds you dear.

Even should you doubt,
Even should you have questions,
Love enfolds you in
Layers of great compassion
That will never desert you.

You may go searching
Fearing you will never find
The love of your life,
But believe he or she is
Near, you will surely find them.

Love is yours to be
Savored throughout existence,
It is always there
Enveloping you within
Its rich sweetness forever.

This Wednesday was a bit of a disappointment because my packages did not arrive, but it ended well. I hope your day was rewarding and you accomplished much of what you wished. Now, before you finish the day, exercise your imagination and create something that will benefit you and others in the world. When you express your vision and share it, you enlighten others who may need to see as you do.

As a prompt, write a poem, story, or journal entry using some or all of the words: orders, supposed, packages, effort, linger, encounter, momentary, claimed, resting, commonly, surrounded, compassion. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I hope you will come here often, but you may also want to subscribe to Chronicles for future updates. I am very interested in anything you would like to share with me, so please leave a comment.

Literary Outcomes

Thinking on paper
Can change the world or get you
Serious trouble,
The words you record make all
The difference in results.

You can encourage
So many people through your
Positive manner,
Or you can stir up unrest
With your provocative words.

Only one thing is
Certain, if you write you will
Without any doubt
Touch hearts of many others
And have impact on the world.

It has been a rainy day in Georgia, but I still enjoyed my Monday. I hope your day has been very pleasant. I encourage you to engage your imagination and create something. Every time you make a creative effort you enrich the universe.

As a prompt, explore your feelings about writing. Do you have a positive relationship with your work, or are you more ambivalent? Whatever your thoughts, record them. Please leave a link to your work in the comments should you use this prompt.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I really appreciate your taking time to read my entry. If you have thoughts, suggestions, or criticism to share with me, please leave a comment. I would love for you to visit repeatedly, but so you will not miss an entry you can subscribe to Chronicles by email.

Fortuitous Risk

Do what you can
For whoever you can,
And pray the Lord’s blessing
Upon every action you take.

Know God is with you
In each moment you live,
Share your happiness
With others you touch.

Be willing to be used
In whatever capacity
The Lord may choose
And He will give you a chance.

Opportunity may come
When it is least expected,
So be prepared to act
According to God’s leading.

I am grateful:

1.   God is so gracious to me.
2.   Mom is supportive when I want to do something a bit unusual.
3.   Reba called me today.
4.   I called Bernice.
5.   Things fit in the envelope, though I did not think they would.

I have had a pleasant Sunday, and hope you did as well. I encourage you to put your imagination to work and do something creative. You have special gifts and talents only you can share with the world. The world needs your contribution.

As a prompt, use the words: money, opportunities, limited, realized, special, plan, agreed, idea, prepare, decided, in a poem, story, or journal entry. If only a one or a few of the words appeal to you that is fine too. Just use what sparks your imagination. Should you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Uncertainty

I am not so sure
You know me or I know you
Because I, myself,
Am a mystery to me,
Unknown and unknowable.

Every day I learn
Something new about myself,
So how am I to
Fully comprehend who you
Might in reality be?

I encourage you,
I attempt to lift you up,
But I have no true
Idea what you think inside
Of your own sovereign mind.

Only God surely
Knows the interior heart
Of each one of us,
We live our lives according
To our own good devices.

Jesus lives and He
Alone redeems us from our
Base inclinations,
We are left to live within
The confines of His great love.

Only Words

Language
Is magical
It opens up new worlds
Calling mankind to the very
Heights and limits of our accomplishment
Lending us the strength to do more
Than we can imagine
Is possible
Language

I am grateful:

1.   There are antibiotics.
2.   I was able to get some Christmas presents for Mom.
3.   Mom liked the two shirts and cup that I gave her.
4.   I got a new Droid phone (which may be too complicated for me to understand) and can retire my poor BlackBerry.
5.   Alex got to Douglasville safely.

I am still recovering from my bronchitis, but I had a fantastic Monday. I hope your day was equally wonderful. I have made the effort to work creatively and so should you. There is no reason you cannot make something great to share with the world. Just make the effort and see what you can accomplish.

As a prompt, write about language. I mused over this all afternoon without benefit of an instrument to record my thoughts. You can write a poem, story, or journal entry while you are sitting down. I encourage you to explore the world of words.

I am so glad you took the time to visit my blog. If you have thoughts, suggestions, or criticism, please leave a comment. I hope you enjoyed my entry today and encourage you to follow Chronicles for daily updates.
