Journal entry:
April Poem A Day Challenge, poem twenty-nine:
But There Is No Guarantee
Life is a bargain
Made with all of creation
Fulfilling promise
Of our benign conception
Within a limited time.
We each begin with
The same opportunities,
But variables change
The way our pathways unfold,
Our destiny is not set.
We live totally
Free to make our own choices
Determining fate;
It may all work out quite well
Or it could disappoint us.
We can scale heights of
Perfect possibility,
But we may obtain
Something other than that which
We so zealously desire.
Life proceeds smoothly,
But there is no guarantee
It will finally
Turn out according to plan
Meeting our expectations.

I am grateful:
1. I have rested some today.
2. I have almost completed my April challenges.
3. Weeds can be unusual and beautiful.
4. Mom has coughed less during the day.
5. I have made some new friends in April.
I hope you have had a relaxing Sunday. You should be able to do something creative without too much effort, so get busy.
I would love to have your comments on this blog entry.
Always,
Jo Ann
Congratulations on a wonderful month! I love how unified the three parts of this post are. I hope you continue writing after the challenge is over and that you believe you will always have something to contribute.
Thank you Katie. The month has been a wonderful experience. I will be completing my 365 Creativity Project, so the writing does not end with April.
Please come visit again.
Hi Jo Ann,
Sorry I didn’t comment on Saturday’s post. I was having “technical” difficulties, but today they seem to have disappeared. I love the connection between your journal writing, the poem and your photos today–very nice!
Have you read any of Julia Cameron’s stuff? She wrote “The Artist’s Way, The Right to Write, Vein of Gold, and has an awesome workbook. If you haven’t read her she helps to continue to move you along the continuum of creativity. I highl recommend her work.
Have a wonderful Sunday evening. Glad you got some rest. I took the day off from the computer and rode horses and soaked in the hot springs. It was absolutely glorious and a much needed break. Now to fix dinner for the elderly gentleman I provide care for.
More tomorrow.
Laura
Laura,
Sorry you had difficulties. The connection between the elements in this blog entry was totally unintentional. I may be dense, but I am not sure I see it.
I have all Julia Cameron’s books, but I have not had them off the shelf in years. Maybe I should get them out again.
The evening has been great, I watched the WWE Wrestling show Extreme Rules with my Mom. Mom is a big wrestling fan and I guess I have become pretty much a fan myself.
I am glad you were able to go riding and soak in the hot springs. Sounds wonderful.
Hope to see you again soon. Take care.
Always,
Jo Ann
