365 Creativity Project-Day 238

Journal entry:

Journal 9-3-20120001

The prompt at Trifecta provided a word to build on. I hope you will enjoy the poem.

True Happiness

Happiness is not
Always an absence of pain;
Oftentimes we learn
To find joy despite all our
Suffering, if we are wise.

The littlest things
Can brighten up our dark days
When we take the time
To consider fortunate
The gifts of every moment.

God never promised
All endeavors would prosper,
But He has told us
He would be present in all
Our struggles to comfort us.

Our happiness is
Dependent on attitudes
We can cultivate
Like our honest gratitude
And sweet generosity.

We can be happy
In all our circumstances
If we remember
Jesus constantly watches
Over and does assist us.

I am grateful:

1.   I slept extremely well after over thirty-six hours awake.
2.   I cooked a great lunch for Mom and I.
3.   I recommended that Mom take her vitamins with lunch, when she eats more than breakfast, because I think they could be what is making her nauseous. Today she did it and she was not nauseous. Maybe it will help beyond today.
4.   On Facebook I shared the classes I am taking on
Coursera and a few people signed up for classes.
5.   I called my friend Bernice and we talked a while.

Happy Labor Day! I hope you have had some time to relax and enjoy the fruit of your labors. Now I encourage you to do the work of creating. It is not so much work as an intense pleasure to exercise your imagination.

As a prompt today, write about the truth. You could express a truth, write about what truth means, or approach it differently. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

I hope this blog has brightened your day. If you have thoughts, suggestions, or criticism, please leave a comment.

Always,
Jo Ann

I did something a little different today, instead of a normal journal entry, I used the prompt from Poets United. I think you might find some inspiration there as well, so visit the site.

Journal 8-30-20120001

The following poem uses the words: affair, expectation, and free, which I found at Three Word Wednesday. I occasionally visit that site when I need a creative spark. You might find it useful too.

Stirrings Of The Heart

I am totally
Free of expectation for
The ongoing days,
But I would be quite happy
To engage in an affair.

I would love being
Part of a joyous couple
Exploring limits
Of our creativity
In nourishing each other.

We could devise new
Methods of bringing pleasure
Through a simple touch
And share delightful kisses
Making us reel like drunkards.

I open myself
To the possibility
That you will arrive
Enlivening my moments
With your gentle caresses.

Yes, I am quite free
Of any expectation
For the coming days,
But I would so happily
Engage in a love affair.

As a prompt, write about what you believe it takes to obtain happiness. I am sure our thoughts will differ, but I would love to see your ideas, so if you use this prompt leave a link to your work in the comments below.

I am so glad you chose to spend some time with me. I hope you enjoyed your stay. If you have thoughts or suggestions, please leave a comment. Your input is greatly appreciated.

Today’s poem is in answer to the prompt at Poetic Asides. You might want to visit the site for inspiration.

Special Meeting

My appointment is
Overdue to meet with you,
But I wait patient
Knowing a perfect moment
Will bring you into my life.

I occupy hours
With many worthwhile pursuits,
Keeping so busy
I do not much resent your
Absence from my every day.

Love must never be
Rushed, it must come in its own
Perfect season to
Catch me unaware and bring
Brightness to each part of life.

My days are often
Spent in dreaming, but love will
Surprise and excite
With its sudden appearance,
Clearing all my doubts away.

Our appointment is
Set at precisely the time
To most astonish
And delight both you and I
With the love we have to share.

I am grateful:

1.   No phone calls disturbed my sleep.
2.   I am content in my life.
3.   God has blessed me with a comfortable home.
4.   I can write.
5.   I can see.

Today was a peaceful day for me. I hope your Wednesday went well. If you have not already created today, you should take time to do so now. It will make your day more memorable and calm your nerves.

As a prompt, write about one of your strong beliefs. If you are a visual artist make an image that represents belief. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Hope and I went out to walk and startled several deer who were out in front of the house. I only caught a glimpse of them, but their beauty was inspiring. I hope you have been inspired by something here. If you have thoughts to share, please leave a comment.

Journal 8-26-20120001

The italicized words in the following poem come from The Sunday Whirl. If you are in need of a challenge you might find it there.

Resting In His Strength

God is the strong link
In the chain of essentials
That fence the empty
Gaps in my forgiven life;
He is my Operator.

Jesus rose from death;
The recipe for my full
Salvation leaving
A trace of Himself in me,
The awesome Holy Spirit.

I devote my life
From dawn to dusk to Jesus
Who can surely use
My pencil to bring glory
To His most wonderful name.

I am not alone,
I am fully surrounded
By His grace and love;
The Creator endows me
With all the talent I need.

I can accomplish
All the work He intends me
To do because each
Task is infused with His own
Ability done through me.

I am grateful:

1.   I slept comfortably through the night.
2.   Alex is safe although a typhoon hit Okinawa.
3.   I talked to Leigh for a while.
4.   Today has been a relaxing day.
5.   I am enjoying reading Worlds Together, Worlds Apart.

Sunday is a wonderful day to rest, I hope you found it relaxing. Take a few minutes and create something to share with the rest of the world. Today I was not inspired, but I managed to write, and you can do it too. Just make a concerted effort and see what you produce.

Today’s prompt is to write about how thankfulness impacts your life. There is so much for which to be grateful that it should not be difficult for you to write a poem, story, essay, or journal entry that expresses gratitude. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

I am so glad you chose to spend a few moments here. If you have suggestions or thoughts on what you found, please leave a comment.

Paean To Writers

Wordsmiths work magic
Upon the empty pages
Bringing characters
And situations to life
For their diligent readers.

Creativity
Flows freely through each writer’s
Mind seeking to be
Expressed in tangible form
For consumption of the world.

People are bewitched
By imaginative words,
Beautiful phrases,
Made concrete by those who wield
The mighty pen with prowess.

I am grateful:

1.   I caught up on some sleep today.
2.   There was leftover cabbage for me to eat.
3.   I am still writing a poem a day.
4.   Mom is here to share my life.
5.   Alex wrote me an email that made me laugh and realize he still appreciates what I did for him when he was younger.

I hope your Monday has not been overly taxing. Take your energy in hand and use your imagination to create work that others will enjoy. You have great ability if you apply yourself to the task.

As a prompt, write about something disturbing you see developing in society. This should not be very difficult. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

I hope you enjoyed your sojourn with me. If you have thoughts or suggestions, be sure to leave a comment.

Journal entry:

Journal 8-17-20120001

You may have noticed the words: beat, pressure, and substance in the above journal entry. They are also in the poem below and I found them at Three Word Wednesday. You might use the prompt at that site as well.

Artistic Contemplation

Give yourself a few
Moments to consider full
Implications of
All creative work you do,
Is it worth your energy?

Ponder the substance
Of the items you create,
Are they worth your time,
Or do you beat yourself up
For wasting days on vain things?

Do you melt under
Overwhelming pressure to
Succeed and excel?
Do you accept the challenge,
Simply do your very best?

You must give yourself
Permission to follow your
Heart, creating art,
Fulfilling your need without
Worrying to please others.

Do not cause yourself
Grief over what everyone
May think or believe,
Creativity transcends
And brings its own ecstasy.

4.   The dishwasher keeps our dishes clean.
5.   Our dogs are great companions.

I hope you have enjoyed your Friday. It has been a very good day for me. You can make your day better by doing something creative now. You have the imagination and the creativity to produce a work of artistry.

For a prompt, write about success. Perhaps what it means to you, or how you approach it. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Flights of Fancy

Imagination
Takes flight into the unknown,
Creativity
Brings your vision so alive
Others can participate.

Every day is yours
To experience and mold
Into beautiful
Creations completely new,
Totally original.

Your ability
To engage everyone else,
Mind and heart, is great
If you will commit yourself
To working creatively.

Allow miracles
To flow through your hands onto
Paper or canvas,
Bringing dreams into the world
Where people can share in them.

Creativity
Brings your vision full alive,
Imagination
Takes flight into the unknown
Conquering the universe.

I am grateful:

1.   Mom and I sat and talked for a couple of hours this morning.
2.   Oreo cookies and milk made a tasty breakfast.
3.   I called Jeremy and he said he will come out Saturday.
4.   I picked up Penny’s medicine at Sam’s Pharmacy.
5.   Hope seems calmer with the Thunder Shirt on.

This was a busy Thursday for me and I hope you accomplished a lot during your day. If you have not already exercised your creativity today, do it now. You impact the world with the things you choose to create. People are poorer when you leave your talents unused.

The prompt for today is to write about something you are not sure how you should handle. Maybe it is a relationship, a work situation, or even how to approach a project. See if your writing suggests a solution to your quandary. If you use this prompt please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

I had a hard time creating this entry. I was not in the least inspired, but I hope something in it was worthwhile. If you have suggestions or a comment, I would love to read your input.

I used the words suggested at Poetic Asides in the following poem. Should you need a little creative push visit that web site.

My Encouragement

Write a poem today,
You have all the perfect words
Within your great mind;
Use your imagination,
It is not so difficult.

You might ably change
The outlook of another’s
Day, bringing gladness
Or giving hope to someone
Who is suffering despair.

Wrap your lines sweetly,
Opening the bottle of
Your intense longing
Soul, making a bargain with
You own deeply hidden poet.

Change the world with words
You have been holding within
Your generous heart
Awaiting the right moment
To share your truth with others.

Bear the large burden
Of your creativity
And use it to weave
Sentences that can bring peace
Freeing others through your poem.

I am grateful:

1.   I got a little extra sleep.
2.   I have Diet Sam’s Colas to enjoy since I could not afford Diet Cokes.
3.   I am still reading the Bible aloud to Mom every day and am on schedule to finish the whole book by the end of the year.
4.   I cooked Ramen noodles and stir fry vegetables for supper. We enjoyed the meal.
5.   I have kept up with my email today so I will not have a lot to do later as I usually do.

Wednesday is midweek, with the weekend in sight. I hope you have had a good and productive day. Take a few moments to do something creative now. You can make a wonderful gift to share with the world if you attempt it.

As your prompt today write about someone you admire. If you are a visual artist, do a portrait of them or make an image that represents them. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your creation in the comments below.

I hope something here touched your heart. If you have suggestions or comments I would love to read them.

The prompt for today’s poem comes from Carry On Tuesday. It is actually a line I had been musing on for a while so it was very apt for me. If your muse needs some prodding go to that site.

With Regards To Shakespeare

All the world’s a stage,
Every creature plays a part
Making wonderful
The world we exist within
During evanescent days.

We unknowingly
Influence every other
Life on the planet,
Without premeditation
Through our casual actions.

Creativity,
At work in all our living
Shapes even nature
In benevolent fashion
To complement every need.

The entire world stands
Prepared to fulfill desires
Expressed honestly
With consideration for
The will of sovereign God.

All the world’s a stage,
True generosity plays
A very crucial
Role in making it pleasant
To live in our universe.

I am grateful:

1.   We did not have to go out.
2.   I stayed up despite such an early rising.
3.   Alex and I had a great conversation.
4.   Placing an order by phone was painless and saved some money over the website.
5.   My friend, Claudia, was pleased with my small gifts and called me to thank me.
6.   Although my Mom fell last night, she was not seriously hurt, and is only sore.

This has been a day of overwhelming happiness for me, and I hope you have enjoyed many pleasurable moments. Take a little time to engage your creativity. If you are not inspired, write just a few lines, and maybe it will lead to more. Doodle if you do not feel you can paint. Snap a few shots, even if the composition seems lacking. Use your talent and you will find the energy to do a bit more next time, or perhaps a couple days from now.

Your prompt today is taken from one of my own poems: We write beautiful lines across the fabric of the whole universe. See what that brings to mind or use only parts of it. If you use the prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below, so we may share your creation.

I hope your visit here has been pleasant. If you have comments or suggestions, please share them with me. I love your input.

True Genius

The present is ripe
With great opportunity
If you realize
Your potential every day
Of this wonderful lifetime.

You are able to
Use your creativity
To enrich the lives
Of your friends, family, and
Even the strangers you meet.

Your abilities
Are astonishing presents
To share with the world
If you are really willing
To give the gift of yourself.

Every minute is
Yours to explore and expand
Through your great talents,
Sharing imagination
With the rest of the planet.

Humanity waits
Upon your fine decision
To allocate your
Endowments in enriching
The existence of others.
