Farewells

Goodbye
Is not easy
To say to those you love
With all your heart and very soul,
But it has to be done from time to time.
When it is all said and done, you
Must say fervent prayers that
You will soon meet
Again

I am grateful:

1.   I was able to go back to sleep after being awakened by a phone call at 6:00 this morning.
2.   Alex called this afternoon.
3.   Alex and Laura came out to the house and saw Mom.
4.   I called ahead so we were seated sooner at Outback.
5.   I was able to drive home safely.

I hope your Tuesday has been a good one. I rather enjoyed my day although saying goodbye to Alex was bittersweet. Now, while you are able, put your imagination to work and create something. I know you have the ability, you must only make an effort.

As a prompt, write about saying goodbye to someone or something you care about. I remember when I was a child I had a special way of saying goodbye to the lake at the end of Summer, you may recall something similar. Just write whatever is on your heart. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

I am so thankful you took time out of your busy life to read my blog. If you have thoughts, suggestions, or criticism to share with me, please leave a comment. Should you wish to get daily updates, you may subscribe to Chronicles.

When There Is Crisis

When things
Fall apart and
Madness appears to rule
Our world, there is a safe haven,
A place, a person to whom we can turn
His name is Jesus and He stands
Ready to take us in arms
Give us hope of
Heaven

1.   I talked to my friend Dana last night, and greatly enjoyed our conversation.
2.   I was able to go back to sleep after being awakened by a phone call this morning.
3.   We had some extra extension cords.
4.   Jeremy came, cleaned our gutters, and check out the truck.
5.   I found out there is a small raise in my Social Security for 2013.

I have had a nice Saturday. I hope you were able to relax and enjoy your day. Before your day is over, take time to work creatively. It will spice up your day and give it more meaning.

As a prompt, write about what Christmas, or the holiday you celebrate during this season, means to you. You might write an expressive poem, a whimsical story, or a simple journal entry. Just apply your imagination and write.

Thank you for visiting my blog. If you have thoughts, suggestions, or criticism to share with me, please leave a comment. To receive daily updates you can subscribe to Chronicles.

I wrote two poems for the prompt on Poetic Asides today. If you need inspiration, I think you might find it there.

Journal 11-17-20120001

The following one came first…

How To Write A Poem

You take a few words
Make sure they are the right ones,
Line them up upon
The page according to your
Imagination’s leading.

Set up those words in
Lines that make up your verses,
Add a little rhyme
Or perhaps none at all, you
Choose everything for yourself.

Use metaphor and
Simile to add some spice,
Make your language sing
For your readers enjoyment
And poetic diversion.

Keep working until
You have exactly the words
To communicate
Your message beautifully,
Then let you poem be read.

365 Creativity Project-Day 234

I did something a little different today, instead of a normal journal entry, I used the prompt from Poets United. I think you might find some inspiration there as well, so visit the site.

Journal 8-30-20120001

The following poem uses the words: affair, expectation, and free, which I found at Three Word Wednesday. I occasionally visit that site when I need a creative spark. You might find it useful too.

Stirrings Of The Heart

I am totally
Free of expectation for
The ongoing days,
But I would be quite happy
To engage in an affair.

I would love being
Part of a joyous couple
Exploring limits
Of our creativity
In nourishing each other.

We could devise new
Methods of bringing pleasure
Through a simple touch
And share delightful kisses
Making us reel like drunkards.

I open myself
To the possibility
That you will arrive
Enlivening my moments
With your gentle caresses.

Yes, I am quite free
Of any expectation
For the coming days,
But I would so happily
Engage in a love affair.

Embrace Your Self

Life should open you
Up through experiences
In daily living;
You might attempt accepting
The person you are become.

When you grow beyond
The narrowness of belief;
Expand and embrace
The reality of who
You have developed to be.

Your destiny is
Before you and endlessly
Unfolding into
The marvelously gifted
Person you are meant to be.

Do not waste time or
Energy on mindless hate;
You are much bigger
A person, more enlightened,
Be at peace with your own heart.

God placed great beauty,
Unspeakable joy and love,
Within your own heart;
These graces He meant you to
Share easily with the world.

I am grateful:

1.   I made a new friend who is an author.
2.   I reconnected with a friend with whom I had lost contact.
3.   This was a peaceful day.
4.   Mom and I had some good conversations.
5.   The lasagna we had for supper was very good.

This is the 199th day of my creativity project. If I can maintain this practice that long, I know you can produce something creative today. Just make an effort. It will make your Thursday better if you do.

For a prompt, write about how you make a difference in the world. If you don’t feel you make a difference, write about someone you believe does. I believe each of us makes a meaningful contribution to the universe, and would encourage you to give credit to yourself. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments so I and others can read your creation.

I hope you enjoyed your visit here. I would love to know any thoughts or suggestions you care to make, so please leave a comment.

Today’s poem is in answer to the prompt at The Sunday Whirl. If you need a jolt of inspiration you might visit there. The words in italics came from the wordle there.

Bringing Cheer

Deep melancholy
Makes rosy cheeked faces pale
As one who powders
Her nose to cover over
A soft spray of stray freckles.

No erotic fling
Among the gold grasses can
Swing such a moody
One completely from sadness
Clinging like a woolen cloak.

Yet depression is
Overcome by true love’s birth,
If one can find it
Rare as it is in days like
These we are now living in.

My poem today is in answer to the prompt at The Sunday Whirl. The italicized words in the poem were supplied by that site. If you are in need of inspiration you might find the prompt helpful, so go visit.

Fair Warning

Ignorant men spurn
Housewives who fall deeply and
Completely in love
With them expecting to spend
Eternity in marriage.

These unlikely chaps
Spend months subtracting themselves
From every year where
They think their balls must retire
In dusty musty drawers.

They avoid the sting
Of soft words penetrating
The tough outer rind
Of the skin they build around
Their ruthless unfaithful hearts.

These unenlightened
Creatures believe privilege
Allows them to use
Women only as playthings,
Discarded after handling.

Ladies do beware
Keeping your sweet affections
For appreciative
Men who know full well to treat
Their partners with great respect.

My poem today is in answer to the prompt at Poetic Asides, which was posted too late for me to use yesterday. You should visit Robert Lee Brewer’s blog for inspiration.

Meeting Brings Hope

When I met you there
I did not know you would change
My whole world with love
That you offered me without
Any type reservation.

When I met you there
I did not know I needed
You to bring me joy,
I believed my life was fine
Even though much I struggled.

When I met you there
I did not know happiness
Could fully engulf
My life in such wonderful
Intensity every day.

When I met you there
I did not know that I lacked
A full outpouring
Of unconditional love
Throughout all my fitful days.

When I met you there
I did not know a puppy
Would bring me such peace,
Brightening every moment
That is shared in your presence.

Imperfect, But Worthwhile

Our institutions
Are not perfect by virtue
Of humanity,
But they can bring much beauty
To the lives we daily live.

There is peace in our
Belonging to likeminded
Groups that have lasted
Throughout many passing years,
Despite their serious faults.

Our religions are
A comfort to our troubled
Hearts when our brief lives
Seem so far beyond our own
Ability to control.

Some shout tyranny,
But believers surely know
That their sacred paths
Are only gentle guidelines
Leading to eternity.

We thank God freedom
To serve as we deem fitting
Is well established
Within the basic fabric
Of our American lives.

I am grateful:

1.   The commotion that woke me was only a picture frame falling, not Mom falling as I feared.
2.   I was raised to respect the rights of others.
3.   I am open-minded.
4.   My dog teaches me much about being a good human.
5.   I do not have to cook today.

I hope your day was good, despite it being Monday. You are a creative person. Embrace this part of your humanity. Use it to make something to enrich our world. I have faith in your ability create, because I am not exceptional and I do it.

If you were moved by anything here, please leave me a comment with your thoughts. I much appreciate feedback be it positive or negative. I hope to learn from you.

Card to my Mom:

Mother's Day 20120001

Today’s prompt was to write an insult poem:

Damn

You are not the one
I think of when I need help
Because you have left
Me alone to handle all
The problems that befall us.

I am sure you think
I should hold you in esteem,
But you will never
Have my respect after all
The years you have been absent.

I do not need you
I have long since moved beyond
Dependence on you;
Just get on with your sweet life
And let me keep on with mine.

I could almost hate
You for your lack of caring,
But it would do me
More harm than it would do you,
So just stay the hell away.
