Creativity Project Year Two-Day 96

I wrote a beginning, not a great one, but the idea holds some promise. Maybe I will come back to it sometime, but most probably not:

This poem was brought to you by the prompts at NaPoWriMo and Poetic Asides. Granted the super-hero is implied and it is not a regular sonnet, but I think it may work in a sideways sort of way. If you care to try your luck with the prompts, visit those sites…

Super-Woman

Your common hello
Does not thrill others like his
Deep throaty bellow,
They could most certainly miss
Your much more subtle approach
Making statements clear
Marking you as very dear
With no real encroach.

Political overtones
Drip from his lips like kisses
Lavished on babies
Which he imagines atones
For boos and hisses
From the violent maybes.

I am grateful:

1.   I have an imagination.
2.   We have freedom to think as we like.
3.   I have a wonderful Mom.
4.   My back was marginally better today.
5.   I stayed home and got some extra rest.

DSC_0817

I have enjoyed a restful Sunday. I hope your day was also peaceful. If you can muster your inner resources now, I encourage you to work creatively. Use your wonderful imagination and make something delightful to share with the world. I have no doubt that you have the ability to do it, because if I can, so can anyone else.

As a prompt, write about a situation real or imagined of which you would not want your closest friend or family member to know of your involvement. Write a poem, story, or journal entry giving the details. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Thank you for taking time to read my blog. I hope your experience was enjoyable. Please come back often, but you might also want to enter your email address in the space above and subscribe to Chronicles. Your comments are welcome and help me ascertain if I am doing this right, so please leave one.

Dogwood here on property at dawn…

This poem was prompted by my trip down to visit an old friend, but it also answers the prompt at Poetic Asides. Go visit that site for inspiration.

The Machine

It sits discarded,
Broken, a sad dinosaur,
It outlasted those
Who knew its name, we are left
With its moldering body.

Still I remember
When it was a useable
Piece of equipment,
Even then it was old, needing
Coaxing to make it work well.

Where do old tractors
Go to die, when only ghosts
Of operators
Linger in the memories
Of those who are left behind?

Their broken bodies
Haunt the landscape of acres
Where they were once used
To mold land for their owners
Whose descendants now remain.

Caterpillar made
No junk, but I recall Dad’s
Curses over this
One he often deemed a piece
Of God forsaken rubbish.

1.   I stayed up all night.
2.   I finished getting the SCC Contest Winners for April posted.

5.   I caught the mess at Sam’s Club before I went out the door.

The other side of The Machine…

This Friday had its ups and downs. I am not sure which won. I hope your day was rewarding and filled with blessings. Now that you have time get busy creating. You have plenty of talent with which to enlighten the world.

This reminds me of Japanese prints… Wisteria after storms…

As a prompt, write about a childhood memory that still has a presence in your life. Maybe this is physical, like The Machine, or it can be an influence. Write a poem, story, or journal entry that portrays this remembrance. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

In Utmost Gratitude

Grateful
For the faithful
Prayers which have been lifted
Over my mother’s condition…
I believe those words were most effective
And have perhaps helped allow her
More time with family;
I need her here…
Grateful

My Tuesday has been quite wonderful. I hope your day was pleasant as well. I encourage you to engage your imagination and create something to share with the world. You no doubt have the talent to accomplish much more than you may think possible. Just get busy.

As a prompt, write a poem, story, or journal entry about the picture above. You could write about the past use of those items, or what you imagine may have caused them to remain. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Be Yourself

Dare to
Be different,
Be an original.
Stand out from the rest of the crowd,
Because God made you to be exactly
Who you are both inside and out,
You are created in
His own image…
Yourself

I am grateful:

1.   Although I ignored my alarm awhile, Mom called me and I got up before she left this morning.
2.   I wrote up the list of contest winners for the webpage, and separately typed them up for email.
3.   I posted the description of the new contest on the webpage and placed it in its proper menu without making a mess.
4.   Mom brought me an excellent lunch and chocolate éclairs.
5.   I did some editorial work that I hope proves acceptable.

Mine was a working Saturday, but I hope you had time to relax. If you have not already created something to share with the world, I encourage you to do it now. There is no time like the present to exercise your imagination. You can brighten and/or enlighten someone’s life with your creativity.

As a prompt, write a poem, story, or journal entry of encouragement to yourself and others. Preferably write it in the second person, but if you rather use the first person that is fine as well. Just write and come back to edit later. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I hope you found your sojourn here enjoyable. Please come back frequently, and if you would like updates by email, subscribe to Chronicles. If you have thoughts, suggestions, or criticism to share, please leave a comment.

Acceptance

I have my doubts, but
I have made this decision
So very many
Times that I am hesitant
To trust myself once again.

So I pray Jesus
Take my heart and complete life,
I repent of all
My many sins and ask that
You forgive me completely.

I want certainty,
But know I constantly
Dwell in a state of
Doubt, so I plead finally
Pardon me, give me Your peace.

Show me what You want
Me to do, I am fully
Yours, deliver me,
Only You can fulfill my
Greatest need, ending my doubt.

If it be Your will
Seal my soul and open up
The gates of Heaven
So I may enter into
Fellowship with You, my Lord.

I am grateful:

1.   Mom was able to go to Sunday School and Worship Service with me today.
2.   God has patience with me.
3.   I was not in the terrible accident on I-20 this afternoon.
4.   Although it rained and I was not able to take pictures at Oakland Cemetery the trip was not wasted.
5.   Hoke took us on a tour of places that we could shoot in the future while it rained.

I hope your Sunday was wonderful. My day was full of happy moments. I urge you to take time and produce something creative. Perhaps you have a new vision to share with the world. Do it now.

As a prompt, write about something you doubt and how you can resolve the doubt. I hope you have the peace of Heaven’s certainty, if not, consider making a decision for Jesus today. If this prompt gets you writing, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Incredible Responsibility

I never needed
To ask anyone for help
Because she always
Took care of all my problems
With complete dedication.

Now the tables have
Turned and I am left in charge
Of her total care,
I feel quite inadequate
To take care of everything.

I promised brother
I would do my very best
And fully intend
To do so, but I am quite
Overwhelmed by her great need.

I pray God be with
Me every step of the way,
Guiding my hands, heart,
Mind, and soul, directing me
In all the things I should do.

I am grateful:

1.   I do not have to live alone.
2.   My Mom and the dogs share my life.
3.   I remembered to mail the power bill.
4.   I was able to get gas for the truck today.
5.   Leigh came to get the garbage and visited a while.

My day was quite busy and a bit nerve wracking. I hope yours was less problematic. Before you complete this day I urge you to spend time creating. It is a splendid way to finish off your day. You will enjoy it and might encourage or inspire someone else.

As a prompt, write about a responsibility that sometimes seems a bit overwhelming. Maybe it is your job, caring for your children, caring for a parent, or keeping your household in order… Write a poem, story, journal entry, or note about the struggle and the triumph. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Personal Censor

Out loud
I do not say
All that I am thinking,
It would not be polite to give
Voice to every thought which crosses my mind’s
Threshold, most people would deem me
Crazier than I am
If I spoke more
Freely

I am grateful:

1.   After being awakened by a phone call I went back to bed this morning and got some extra rest.
2.   I set up an appointment with a dietitian to discuss Mom’s nutrition needs.
3.   I managed to get AT&T to remove the $24.00 of extra charges they had affixed to my account.
4.   Mom enjoyed the supper I prepared this evening.
5.   I have shelter, food, clothing, clean water, transportation, and companionship.
6.   Alex talked to me on Voxer this evening.

DSC_0329

My Tuesday involved some aggravation, I hope yours was more pleasant. I am quite fed up with AT&T, but do not see how I can replace them. Enough of that, you should dedicate some time to creativity. I know that you can do it, because I do. Your voice can immensely enrich the world. Your experience could help someone through their own struggles, so share a bit of your heart.

As a prompt, write about how you censor yourself. This could be very serious, or you could approach it comically. If you use the prompt, please share a link to your creation in the comments below.

I want to thank you for taking time to read my blog. I hope you found something you enjoyed. Share your thoughts, suggestions, or criticism by leaving a comment for me. If you would like, you can subscribe to Chronicles to receive future updates.

Wee Little Faith

God is…
And He alone
Is in total control
Of each and every one of my
Situations, He holds my life within
His blessedly capable hands,
I can fully depend
On His mercy
God is…

I am grateful:

1.   Even though I stayed up all night I was able to complete my tasks today.
2.   I read over 20 chapters in my new study Bible.
3.   I picked up the book my church is studying in Sunday School.
4.   God is in control, even when everything seems to be spiraling toward disaster.
5.   I have completed my 365 days of this Creativity Project.

This was a challenging Tuesday for me. I sincerely hope your day was much more pleasant. I sat myself down and completed what you see here, though I am not feeling particularly inspired. I attest that nothing is stopping you from practicing creativity. I thoroughly believe you have the imagination and ability to make whatever you desire, so do something to share with our world and perhaps make it a brighter place for someone.

As a prompt, write about how you survived a situation that went terribly wrong. You might write a poem, story, journal entry, or just a note to be expanded upon some other time. I know you can do it. If you should use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Thank you for being so kind as to read my blog. I regret this day was not more spectacular, but maybe it is exactly as it should be. I hope you have enjoyed your visit and encourage you to leave a comment and/or follow Chronicles. I do not know what the future holds for this blog, but I hope you will continue the journey with me. You are a big part of the reason I completed 365 days. You provide inspiration to carry on.

Fortunate days, fortunate ways,
Everything falls in place
In perfect timing, comfortable space.

Blessings rain down, erasing my frown
Bringing glowing smiles
To shorten the many miles.

Jesus travels with me, within me,
Making the journey worth traveling,
Keeping my life from unraveling.

Time passes, a year, rich in good cheer,
Hours made so beautiful
By miracles always very plentiful.

Up all
Night once again
Working on the projects
I just never seem able to
Complete beneath the bright light of daytime.
Taking extra hours I have gained
From the deepest darkness
Of night, which holds

The page I worked on through the night and into the afternoon…

I am grateful:

1.   I am able to stay up all night on occasion.
2.   I completed the page without too much trouble.
3.   Mom was excited when I suggested we go see the Christmas lights at Life University.
4.   The GPS helped me get us there easily.
5.   We ate supper at Popeye’s.

I hope your Sunday has been as rewarding as mine. I thoroughly enjoyed my extended day. Now I ask that you make the effort to do something creative. Surely if I can accomplish all I have, you can write a few imaginative lines.

As a prompt write about something special you have done with your loved ones in preparation for Christmas or whatever holiday you may celebrate during this season. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.
