Not Near Enough

It’s impossible
To be perfect, and yet my
Possibilities
At being imperfect are
Seemingly so limitless.

I can do my best
And still fall incredibly
Short of what I should
With greatest ease accomplish,
My efforts are all lacking.

I make grave errors
In judgment when I should know
So much the better,
Maybe I am so deeply
Flawed there is no remedy.

Repeatedly I
Fall short of expectations
Never fulfilling
The hopes and dreams of those who
Choose to put their faith in me.

It’s impossible
To be perfect, yet I have
Made an art form of
Missing opportunities
To fulfill my potential.

I finished Tuesday in disappointment with myself, but I sincerely hope your day was rewarding. I recommend you busy yourself doing something creative. Whatever media you choose to work in, use your fertile imagination. You have great talent, which you may share with the world.

As a prompt, write about a situation in which you either exceed or fail in meeting expectations. Your poem, story, or journal entry can be shared by leaving a link to your work in the comments below.

Thank you for visiting my blog. This was not the most fortuitous day, but I hope you will return. You might also want to enter your email address in the space above and subscribe to Chronicles. If you have anything to share, please leave a comment.

Fly Free

Let your dreams fly away
On the wings of ravens,
Let your hopes fly away
On the wings of doves.

Fly away, fly away,
Above the world,
Away up high
Over all your problems.

Let your heart sing
The songs of love,
Let your soul ring
In praise of God above.

Let your dreams fly away
On the wings of ravens,
Let your hopes fly away
On the wings of doves.

I am grateful:

1.   The problem with my files for the Chapel Hill News & Views was easily solved by using Adobe Acrobat to make a PDF.
2.   I got up pretty early today.
3.   My back is somewhat better.
4.   Writing poems on my Droid is fun.
5.   I got chocolate covered Oreos which is a definite win.

I had a great Monday, after a questionable start. I hope your day was all you thought it would be. Take time to exercise your creativity, before time gets away from you. Let your imagination soar taking you in new directions to explore. I know you have it within you to do something wonderful, if you allow yourself a chance.

As a prompt, write something that seems like it belongs with music. Maybe a phrase will come to you with a tune, follow that, see where it takes you. Write your lines and leave a link to them in the comments below should you use this prompt.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Please come back often, but you might also want to enter your email address in the space above and subscribe to Chronicles. If you have thoughts, suggestions, or criticism to share, please leave me a comment.

Dogwood here on property at dawn…

This poem was prompted by my trip down to visit an old friend, but it also answers the prompt at Poetic Asides. Go visit that site for inspiration.

The Machine

It sits discarded,
Broken, a sad dinosaur,
It outlasted those
Who knew its name, we are left
With its moldering body.

Still I remember
When it was a useable
Piece of equipment,
Even then it was old, needing
Coaxing to make it work well.

Where do old tractors
Go to die, when only ghosts
Of operators
Linger in the memories
Of those who are left behind?

Their broken bodies
Haunt the landscape of acres
Where they were once used
To mold land for their owners
Whose descendants now remain.

Caterpillar made
No junk, but I recall Dad’s
Curses over this
One he often deemed a piece
Of God forsaken rubbish.

The Machine…

I am grateful:

1.   I stayed up all night.
2.   I finished getting the SCC Contest Winners for April posted.
3.   I walked all over the property this morning with camera in hand.
4.   I made my appointment with the chiropractor.
5.   I caught the mess at Sam’s Club before I went out the door.

The other side of The Machine…

This Friday had its ups and downs. I am not sure which won. I hope your day was rewarding and filled with blessings. Now that you have time get busy creating. You have plenty of talent with which to enlighten the world.

This reminds me of Japanese prints… Wisteria after storms…

As a prompt, write about a childhood memory that still has a presence in your life. Maybe this is physical, like The Machine, or it can be an influence. Write a poem, story, or journal entry that portrays this remembrance. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

This poem combines the prompts from NaPoWriMo and Poetic Asides. You might visit those sites for inspiration, though I do not recommend you combine them as I have…

The Show Of Shows

The grandest stage of them all, where champs are made and losers fall.
A night of nights for fans who cheer and stars who shine.
We witness greatness and sore defeat, where some play fair, others cheat.

80,676 there live to cheer their favorites on to victory.
Countless fans tuning in around the world, like Mom and I here at home.
The show was great, some matches almost too close to call.

Did you by chance tune in to see WrestleMania Twenty-Nine’s pageantry?

I am grateful:

1.   Mom was okay with staying home this morning.
2.   I tried to sleep away the pain, and caught up a little sleep.
3.   I ordered WrestleMania 29 on Friday, so I did not run into the problems some fans did tonight.
4.   I talked to Alex overnight.
5.   WrestleMania was impressive and Mom and I were able to watch it together.

I did not quite accomplish all I wished this Sunday, because I was too uncomfortable to go to church. I hope your day was a complete success. I encourage you to take time to unleash your imagination and engage your creativity. You bring so much to the world if you only make an effort.

As a prompt, write about an event you enjoy watching or participating in. This could be anything about which you are passionate. Write a poem, story, or journal entry and leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Please excuse the lateness of this post. The telecast kept me occupied this evening. I am so glad I wrote the journal entry early. Time got away from me though. I hope that you enjoyed your visit here and that you will subscribe to Chronicles for future updates. I usually don’t dwell on wrestling like this, but I suppose I have become a fan. If you have thoughts, suggestions, or criticism to share, please leave a comment.

In Utmost Gratitude

Grateful
For the faithful
Prayers which have been lifted
Over my mother’s condition…
I believe those words were most effective
And have perhaps helped allow her
More time with family;
I need her here…
Grateful

It Is A Miracle

My mind is broken,
Yet I still think…
My heart is broken,
Yet I still feel…
My body is broken,
Yet I still stand…
My spirit is broken,
Yet I am healed…

By the power of Jesus
My life continues:
Sane within my insanity,
Loving despite my hurts,
Upright despite my infirmity,
Saved despite my many
And terrible wrongs,
By His grace and mercy.

I can still think
Because He clarifies my mind…
I can still feel
Because He works in my emotions…
I can still stand
Because He works in my weakness…
I can claim healing
Because I am forgiven by His blood…

1.   I had Oreo cookies for breakfast with a glass of cold milk.
2.   I had my Droid with me and was able to call Mom to help her set the thermostat on air conditioning so she would not get too hot.

The weather today was gorgeous and I thoroughly enjoyed my Saturday. I hope your day was filled with blessings as well. If you have a few moments to spare, or can make the time, engage yourself in creative work. It will enrich your life and calm you mind. Make your work a prayer or meditation and let it flow from your heart. Your talent will bless the others who are influenced by your imagination.

As a prompt, write about some of the things you take for granted from an attitude of gratitude. You might be surprised at how much is good in your life. If you create a poem, story, or journal entry, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

I almost did not write tonight, because I have so many other things I should be getting done. I had nothing about which to write. No inspiration graced me, but I managed to create something. I truly appreciate your taking the time to read my blog. I hope you will return often, but you might also want to enter your email address above so that you receive future updates from Chronicles. I hope something here has touched you. If you have thoughts, suggestions, or criticism to share, please leave me a comment. I am in need of your opinions on whether this blog is effective.

On Purpose

I suppose I am
On mission even here at
Home because no one
Else is willing to take on
The responsibilities
That I have with Mom.
I made a promise I will
Not break, but I thought
Mistakenly that others
Might step up and do their part.
I have to trust God
That if there is something else
He wishes me to
Do, He will make a way for
Me where there is not a way.
It is my duty
To be open to His call
Willing to do His
Work wherever I can be
Used by His almighty hand.

Always Busy

Some say
They are bored quite
Often, but I have no
Time to tarry in such a state,
There is entirely too much to be done,
My days are so completely filled
That there is not a chance
To linger in
Boredom

Always Faithful

God is
Faithful in so
Many little things that
I know I can always trust Him
To care for every particular of
My wayward life, especially
Many things I cannot
Myself control,
God does

My Saturday has been busy and enjoyable. I hope your day has been good. I found time, although a bit late, to work creatively and so should you. I am sure you can do as well as I have, just make an effort.

As a prompt, write about someone or something that is always faithful. I am awed by the Lord’s constant care for me, but you may want to write about another example. Please leave a link to your work in the comments below should you use this prompt.
