365 Creativity Project-Day 212

Journal entry:

Journal 8-8-20120001

I used the words suggested at Poetic Asides in the following poem. Should you need a little creative push visit that web site.

My Encouragement

Write a poem today,
You have all the perfect words
Within your great mind;
Use your imagination,
It is not so difficult.

You might ably change
The outlook of another’s
Day, bringing gladness
Or giving hope to someone
Who is suffering despair.

Wrap your lines sweetly,
Opening the bottle of
Your intense longing
Soul, making a bargain with
You own deeply hidden poet.

Change the world with words
You have been holding within
Your generous heart
Awaiting the right moment
To share your truth with others.

Bear the large burden
Of your creativity
And use it to weave
Sentences that can bring peace
Freeing others through your poem.

I am grateful:

1.   I got a little extra sleep.
2.   I have Diet Sam’s Colas to enjoy since I could not afford Diet Cokes.
3.   I am still reading the Bible aloud to Mom every day and am on schedule to finish the whole book by the end of the year.
4.   I cooked Ramen noodles and stir fry vegetables for supper. We enjoyed the meal.
5.   I have kept up with my email today so I will not have a lot to do later as I usually do.

Wednesday is midweek, with the weekend in sight. I hope you have had a good and productive day. Take a few moments to do something creative now. You can make a wonderful gift to share with the world if you attempt it.

As your prompt today write about someone you admire. If you are a visual artist, do a portrait of them or make an image that represents them. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your creation in the comments below.

I hope something here touched your heart. If you have suggestions or comments I would love to read them.

Always,
Jo Ann

The prompt for today’s poem comes from Carry On Tuesday. It is actually a line I had been musing on for a while so it was very apt for me. If your muse needs some prodding go to that site.

With Regards To Shakespeare

All the world’s a stage,
Every creature plays a part
Making wonderful
The world we exist within
During evanescent days.

We unknowingly
Influence every other
Life on the planet,
Without premeditation
Through our casual actions.

Creativity,
At work in all our living
Shapes even nature
In benevolent fashion
To complement every need.

The entire world stands
Prepared to fulfill desires
Expressed honestly
With consideration for
The will of sovereign God.

All the world’s a stage,
True generosity plays
A very crucial
Role in making it pleasant
To live in our universe.

I am grateful:

1.   We did not have to go out.
2.   I stayed up despite such an early rising.
3.   Alex and I had a great conversation.
4.   Placing an order by phone was painless and saved some money over the website.
5.   My friend, Claudia, was pleased with my small gifts and called me to thank me.
6.   Although my Mom fell last night, she was not seriously hurt, and is only sore.

This has been a day of overwhelming happiness for me, and I hope you have enjoyed many pleasurable moments. Take a little time to engage your creativity. If you are not inspired, write just a few lines, and maybe it will lead to more. Doodle if you do not feel you can paint. Snap a few shots, even if the composition seems lacking. Use your talent and you will find the energy to do a bit more next time, or perhaps a couple days from now.

Your prompt today is taken from one of my own poems: We write beautiful lines across the fabric of the whole universe. See what that brings to mind or use only parts of it. If you use the prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below, so we may share your creation.

I hope your visit here has been pleasant. If you have comments or suggestions, please share them with me. I love your input.

Always,
Jo Ann

True Genius

The present is ripe
With great opportunity
If you realize
Your potential every day
Of this wonderful lifetime.

You are able to
Use your creativity
To enrich the lives
Of your friends, family, and
Even the strangers you meet.

Your abilities
Are astonishing presents
To share with the world
If you are really willing
To give the gift of yourself.

Every minute is
Yours to explore and expand
Through your great talents,
Sharing imagination
With the rest of the planet.

Humanity waits
Upon your fine decision
To allocate your
Endowments in enriching
The existence of others.

1.   I woke up, ate breakfast, and then took a short nap this morning.
2.   Though we left a little late we made it to Mom’s appointment on time.
3.   We did not have to wait at the appointment.
4.   There were flowers I could take pictures of in the parking lot.
5.   Mom and I made a delicious macaroni salad for supper.

I hope your Monday has been productive, mine has been quite enjoyable. After reading my journal entry and poem you should not be surprised that I want you to exercise your creativity. I urge you to do something you love.

My prompt for you today is to write about what creativity means to you. If you are a visual artist do something that symbolizes creativity to you. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

The first line I came up with lent itself more to a poem than a journal entry, so that is what it became:

Journal 8-5-20120001

Evanescent

Butterfly wing beats
Flutter softly through the air
Drawing gentle hearts
To reminisce about times
Fading into history.

Tender and lovely,
Colorful, brightly shining,
We cannot capture
The glorious images
We envision while awake.

The beauty of fast
Passing life so very fleet
In its short moments,
Vanishing in an eye blink,
Carried away on a breath.

5.   The dishwasher saves my hands from being in soapy water to which I am allergic.

I hope you enjoyed a relaxing Sunday. Take a few minutes to create something that will last beyond this day.

My prompt for you is to write about what you would have a robot do for you if you owned one. You might be surprised where this leads you. If you use the prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Completely Responsible

I do not pretend
To be perfect, but I seem
More adept at things
Than some others who think they
Are more competent than me.

I must organize
A variety of tasks
And handle them well
Or things fall apart for us
In a very short order.

I am always on
Call for an emergency
Arising any
Moment, daytime or nighttime,
I can fix every problem.

I never believed
The responsibility
Should be given me,
But I perform very well
Under some intense pressures.

I must overcome
All my disability
In circumstances
Where I need total control
Or everything collapses.

I am grateful:

1.   I woke up early this morning.
2.   Mom went with me today.
3.   We made it safely over I-20 and 285 in the rain.
4.   The pizza I ordered was very good.
5.   My doctor did make it to the office even though he looked exhausted.

I hope your Saturday was more pleasurable than mine. I had a great deal of difficulty doing my journal entry and poem this evening because I was very upset over my experience at Wal-Mart. My nerves would not settle, but I managed to do this project anyway. You can do something creative if you set your mind to it.

My prompt for you is to write about a situation that did not go exactly as planned. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

I thank you for taking the time to visit my blog. If you have a comment or suggestion I would be honored to read it.

Season’s Ending

Summer will soon fade
Like the setting of the sun
On a shiny day,
And Autumn will bring with it
A cooler kinder climate.

August remains with
The scorching heat that roasts us
When we venture out
Beyond the reach of filtered
Cool air-conditioned places.

The last new blossoms
Give up their awesome glory,
Leaving memories
To hold us through the waning
And the brittle days ahead.

School begins again,
The children return to their
Classes and studies,
Leaving the frolicsome hours
Of their vacation behind.

We welcome the Fall,
Quitting the sweltering heat
For days of softer
Weather where trees cast off green
Clothing for golden splendor.

Hope…

I am grateful:

1.   I had money to pay my insurance.
2.   I was able to schedule an annual exam for Hope and Ko-Ko.
3.   Laura resolved a snafu and registered for college classes.
4.   My all-in-one works for scanning and printing each day.
5.   We had shrimp for supper and Mom enjoyed it.

I hope this has been a wonderful Friday for you. Take time to use your imagination to create something. You have the ability to bring a new vision to life.

My prompt for you today is to write about the turning of seasons. You might write a celebratory poem, a story set in changing time, or a journal entry musing on how time passes. If you are a visual artist capture something that signifies seasonal change. If you use this prompt please leave a link to your work in the comments below so we may share it.

Financial Returns

Money cannot buy
The most precious things on Earth,
Even though some might
Try to purchase them were they
Ever made available.

Family remains
A gift meted out by God
And friends come into
Our lives by chance or their choice,
Somewhat random occurrence.

Love graces our lives
Without any true payment,
Just because we are
Human beings who belong
In company of others.

Happiness follows
Our own daily made choices,
Cash does not insure
We will share any more than
We discover without it.

Money is quite nice
To ease the roughness of life,
But it really does
Not insure that we will live
With the greatest of pleasure.

3.   I went to the post office and mailed a card.
4.   Our drive went safely.
5.   My Social Security will be deposited tomorrow.

This was an extremely busy day for me, I hope your Thursday was less harried. Take a few moments to exercise your creativity now. I believe you can accomplish awesome things if you only make an effort.

For a prompt today, write about money. This is a subject that should evoke some response in you and give you fodder about which to write. If you use the prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

The Problem With Politics

There is a problem
For me with politicians,
I do not like them,
They are most definitely
Selfish and money loving.

The Republicans
And Democrats are equal
In their disregard
For people of similar
Circumstances to myself.

It is the money
Propelling them to action,
Not the common good,
They have fully forgotten
Our country’s true principles.

One side screams loudly,
“No new taxes,” while others
Lobby for reform,
Neither side accomplishing
Anything of lasting worth.

Oh, to finally
See some regular person
In high position
Who understands dilemmas
Faced by common citizens.

We can surely hope,
But it is unlikely we
Will ever find it
Turning out in such a way,
For money runs politics.

I am grateful:

1.   I have wonderful friends the world over who I have met through the internet.
2.   Claudia sent me such a glorious gift.
3.   God blesses me so abundantly.
4.   I have a computer with internet access.
5.   People are kinder than we sometimes imagine.

It has been a very good Wednesday for me, I hope it was the same for you. Please take a few moments of your time to do something creative. You may be thinking it is too hard, but I submit to you that I have written 123 poems since April 1st and I have done this Creativity Project for 205 days, surely you can do produce something of great worth today.

For a prompt today, write about something unexpected that has happened to you through your use of the internet. I am sure you can write a poem or story detailing your resulting adventures. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below so that others can enjoy your creation.

I am so glad you visited my blog today. If you feel inclined, leave me a comment or suggestion. Some days I have a problem thinking of subjects about which to write. Maybe you have ideas you would like to share. I would much appreciate those.

Jo Ann

I used the prompt at Carry On Tuesday to help me create this poem. If you need a bit of inspiration you should visit there.

Relics Of Our Lives

When we are standing
At the crossroads of the past,
Present, and future
We, at times, have some trouble
Knowing the way we should go.

There are so many
Choices to make every day
And each one opens
A path never before tread,
Closing another behind.

Days are exactly
Whatever we make of them,
Bringing many gifts,
Blessing us abundantly
If our hearts are receptive.

These present hours are
Captured between the future
And the deepest past,
We have only this time to
Influence our lives outcomes.

We must go forward
When standing at the crossroads
Making each moment
A treasure we can carry
Into our lives remainders.

I visited Trifecta for inspiration to create a poem today. It was a bit a challenge, but you should see if a visit to that site would help you make something.

Abnormality

I am not strictly
Normal, as in a standard
Interpretation
Of the word, but it is fine
To deviate a little.

Normal is easy,
Being unique is really
A bit challenging,
It takes special skill to stand
Out beyond the usual.

You want a normal,
Look for another person,
Because I do not
Belong to the class, I am
One who lives outside the norm.

Normal is a game
I rarely have any wish
To join in or play,
I am happy with myself
Doing everything my way.

Insanity does
Not conform to the normal,
But are we not all
Just a little bit crazy
In our own particulars?
