365 Creativity Project-Day 234

I did something a little different today, instead of a normal journal entry, I used the prompt from Poets United. I think you might find some inspiration there as well, so visit the site.

Journal 8-30-20120001

The following poem uses the words: affair, expectation, and free, which I found at Three Word Wednesday. I occasionally visit that site when I need a creative spark. You might find it useful too.

Stirrings Of The Heart

I am totally
Free of expectation for
The ongoing days,
But I would be quite happy
To engage in an affair.

I would love being
Part of a joyous couple
Exploring limits
Of our creativity
In nourishing each other.

We could devise new
Methods of bringing pleasure
Through a simple touch
And share delightful kisses
Making us reel like drunkards.

I open myself
To the possibility
That you will arrive
Enlivening my moments
With your gentle caresses.

Yes, I am quite free
Of any expectation
For the coming days,
But I would so happily
Engage in a love affair.

I used the words suggested at Poetic Asides in the following poem. Should you need a little creative push visit that web site.

My Encouragement

Write a poem today,
You have all the perfect words
Within your great mind;
Use your imagination,
It is not so difficult.

You might ably change
The outlook of another’s
Day, bringing gladness
Or giving hope to someone
Who is suffering despair.

Wrap your lines sweetly,
Opening the bottle of
Your intense longing
Soul, making a bargain with
You own deeply hidden poet.

Change the world with words
You have been holding within
Your generous heart
Awaiting the right moment
To share your truth with others.

Bear the large burden
Of your creativity
And use it to weave
Sentences that can bring peace
Freeing others through your poem.

I am grateful:

1.   I got a little extra sleep.
2.   I have Diet Sam’s Colas to enjoy since I could not afford Diet Cokes.
3.   I am still reading the Bible aloud to Mom every day and am on schedule to finish the whole book by the end of the year.
4.   I cooked Ramen noodles and stir fry vegetables for supper. We enjoyed the meal.
5.   I have kept up with my email today so I will not have a lot to do later as I usually do.

Wednesday is midweek, with the weekend in sight. I hope you have had a good and productive day. Take a few moments to do something creative now. You can make a wonderful gift to share with the world if you attempt it.

As your prompt today write about someone you admire. If you are a visual artist, do a portrait of them or make an image that represents them. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your creation in the comments below.

I hope something here touched your heart. If you have suggestions or comments I would love to read them.

Imperfect, But Worthwhile

Our institutions
Are not perfect by virtue
Of humanity,
But they can bring much beauty
To the lives we daily live.

There is peace in our
Belonging to likeminded
Groups that have lasted
Throughout many passing years,
Despite their serious faults.

Our religions are
A comfort to our troubled
Hearts when our brief lives
Seem so far beyond our own
Ability to control.

Some shout tyranny,
But believers surely know
That their sacred paths
Are only gentle guidelines
Leading to eternity.

We thank God freedom
To serve as we deem fitting
Is well established
Within the basic fabric
Of our American lives.

April Poem A Day Challenge, poem thirty:

Common Plight

Our days slip softly
By, making little lasting
Mark upon the world.
We are not mighty, famous,
Our steps leave no impression.

Our voices whisper
On the passing wind currents
Pushed toward silence.
Few hear our exclamations
Or heed our well-meant advice.

Our lives are vapor
Rising up from the soil for
Only a short while.
We go into the darkness
Of oblivion far too fast.

Our hope is in God
For He redeems existence
Making it worthwhile;
Without His enormous help
We quietly fade away.

April Poem A Day Challenge, poem ten:

Growth Despite

A tree is supposed
To grow unfettered,
Strong and very tall
With outreaching limbs,

But our family tree
Is stunted with limbs
That have fallen away
Not clinging to the trunk.

There is hope those
Limbs might be grafted
Back in so the branches
Might again grow strong,

But there is no guarantee
The issues will be resolved,
So we build upon the limbs
That remain fully attached.

April Poem A Day Challenge, poem seven:

Encounter at Wal-Mart

The aisles were crowded
With frantic shoppers
Going in every direction.

I pushed my cart with
Leisurely ease picking
Out things at need.

Suddenly I was caught
Face to face across carts
With an unsmiling man.

I upturned my lips,
Nodded my head,
And he frowned at me.

I dropped my eyes
And pushed my cart aside,
Still holding to my smile.

I thought how sad
The man must be even
Though it was Good Friday.

April PAD Challenge, poem 5:

The One I Praise

Prophets of God foretold
His coming. Born of the Father
And an innocent virgin. Hunted,
But protected to grow in wisdom.
He became a man who called
Disciples to follow and witness.
He healed the blind, lame, deaf,
Possessed, and any other who
Came with even little faith.
He was hated by many who
Misunderstood Him as they
Had the Father before Him.
They tried Him, and though
He did no crime they found
Him guilty, and called for His death.
They crucified Him, and the Son
Of God died upon a cruel cross.
He was buried, hidden in a tomb,
But death could not hold Him.
Jesus rose and appeared to many,
Then the Father received Him
Into Heaven where He waits
To return and gather His children
Home to spend eternity in
Heaven with Him.
If you do not know Him personally
Become His friend and join the
Saints who will live with Him forever.

I am grateful:

1.   I wrote a poem today.
2.   I talked with Linda, my sister-in-law, a few minutes.
3.   This thirty acres has some beautiful things on it.
4.   We stayed home today.
5.   I was able to crush cans and my shoulder did not hurt too bad.

At one point doctors told my parents that I would be a vegetable for the rest of my life because of an overdose of drugs. My Mom and Dad enlisted the prayers of the community for my healing. I have problems, but am a highly functional person. I thank God for His grace toward me. It is a miracle that I survived. My accomplishments amaze me.

If you will work creatively you can enrich the world. You have the gift within you. You must only apply effort to complete great things. I encourage you to use your innate talent and create beauty.
