Long Gone

Stranger
Who once was close
As my own skin, now far
Away and hidden from my sight,
But I shall not grieve over the distance
For those days we spent together
I will long remember
As doubly sweet
Stranger

I am grateful:

1.   I slept late.
2.   Jeremy and Jayden visited for a few minutes.
3.   I watched The King’s Speech this afternoon.
4.   Alex and Laura came by for a few minutes looking for a video game.
5.   Hope is my constant companion and gives me her love.

This Sunday has been a quiet day. I hope you have had time to relax. I urge you to take time to create something you can share with the rest of the world. I know you have the talent and ability within you to accomplish wonders.

Write about happiness, as your prompt today. Maybe you want to share what makes you happy, how you maintain your happiness, or something else. Just write.

Moments Passing

The clock,
The calendar,
The hours, the days move on,
Taking us forward into our
Futures unfolding quickly before each
Of us in unending array
Of strange situations
That surprise us
In time

1.   I woke up early this morning.
2.   We have free Showtime for three months.
3.   My replacement book came from Amazon.
4.   We had soup and salad for supper.
5.   God loves me extravagantly and completely.

It has been a quiet day here. I hope your Saturday has been filled with joy. Now I encourage you to use your creativity to make something wonderful to share with the world. You can do this if you only make the effort.

As a prompt, use the words: clock, calendar, hours, days; in a poem, story, or journal entry. I know you can create something even better than I did, if you will try. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

So Blessed

My life
Is filled with smiles
On a daily basis.
Even on bad days there is much
For which to be grateful, I can hardly
Complain because happiness fills
Most moments and many
Corners of this
My life

I am grateful:

1.   I got a haircut and it turned out well.
2.   My trip to Best Buy was productive.
3.   Mom liked what I fixed for lunch.
4.   The doctor’s office finally returned my call.
5.   Alex and Laura visited us for a little while this evening.

Things worked out quite well today. I hope your Friday was also trouble free. Make sure you take a few moments to engage your imagination creatively. You have so much within you if you only tap your resources.

As a prompt, write about a technology that has positively impacted your life. This does not have to be electronic, anything created by humans will do. I am sure you have a poem, story, or journal entry inside you. Please leave a link to your work in the comments below should you use this prompt.

Thanks so much for reading my blog. I hope you enjoyed your time here. Please leave a comment if you have thoughts, suggestions, or criticism to share. Chronicles can be delivered to you daily if you subscribe.

I missed yesterday’s prompt on Poetic Asides, but I wrote my answer this evening…

In The Company Of Misfits

We do not belong,
We are a bit different,
We are not well liked,
Even in the presence of
Each other we are awkward.

You might like to make
Us feel at home, but we are
Not quite assuaged by
Your sweet words or actions, we
Look askance at such efforts.

We might have once been
Focus of evil bullies
And we remember
How we were badly abused,
Now we are shy of friendship.

We are the misfits
Who sit outside the spotlight,
Hardly moving close
Enough for anyone to
Become acquainted with us.

Yet there is hope for
Us because we are full of
Imagination
And creativity lives
Within our hearts, minds, and souls.

I am grateful:

1.   I woke up this morning.
2.   There were Oreo cookies for breakfast.
3.   The note application on my Droid worked well as my shopping list.
4.   My trip to town went safely.
5.   Some books I ordered came from Amazon yesterday.

This has not been a very good Thursday for me, but I hope your day was much better. Even though I am a bit down I took time to work creatively and so should you. No matter what the day is like creative work can lift the spirits and make things more worthwhile. I urge you to make an effort.

As a prompt, write about your position in society. You may think yourself well placed, or perhaps you are an outcast, tell us about it. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I would appreciate your comments and your following Chronicles.

Evidently

A design that is
Intelligent flows throughout
All of creation,
Beauty that transcends limits
Of imagination exists.

No random chance could
Have brought about such wondrous
Formations and life
Forms as are present in our
Widely diverse universe.

The great Creator
Turned His able hands to work
Making wonderful
Creatures and living things to
Delight himself and humans.

Still the Lord does not
Require anyone believe
In His omniscience
He simply leaves evidence
For each of us to discern.

I am grateful:

1.   I got a card from my friend, Ray.
2.   Alex came to visit today.
3.   Alex paid for the case and screen protector for my Droid.
4.   Alex’s old computer came on.
5.   I have written over 240 poems this year.

I had a great Wednesday, although I am still coughing quite a lot. I hope your day was rewarding. Make it better by using your creativity to make something fabulous to share with the world. I know you have the talent and ability to accomplish whatever you set your mind to doing.

As a prompt, write about some sort of design. You might have a different perspective to my own and might want to write in argument against my poem, or you might want to write about something else entirely. Just write. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

This poem comes from several recent experiences, two happening only today…

Communication
Breakdown

Tell me why
All the people
I must talk to
On the phone
When doing
Business are
Difficult to
Understand.
It is like the
Phone support
All came from
Other countries
Where English
Is barely spoken
And completely
Misunderstood.
I feel as if I am
A stranger in a
Foreign land
When I pick up
The phone to get
Some assistance
And these are
Real American
Companies with
Whom I deal.
Maybe that is
Why the whole
Economy is in
A dreadful mess,
No one with a
Good command
Of language is
Working in the
Support of our
Industries.

I am grateful:

1.   I got a little sleep between 6:00 and 10:00 this morning.
2.   Alex woke me and I was happy to be up.
3.   I got a wonderful hug from my son.
4.   Alex did yard work and made things look much better.
5.   My mentor, Richard, called and we had a great conversation.

Today was a very good Tuesday for me. It is not often I get to spend time with my son. I hope your day was also pleasant. To make it even better dedicate some time to exercising your creativity. I always find there is more in my mind than I thought when I face the blank page and you may find it so as well. Do not sell yourself short, you can make something wonderful.

As a prompt, write about your experience with the telephone. I could tell horror tales about cell phones, but I will spare you. What is your pet peeve about phones, or can you not live without their presence? Tell us about it. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog. If you would like future updates there is a link to subscribe to Chronicles above. I am so anxious to read your thoughts, suggestions, or criticism, so please leave a comment.

Only Words

Language
Is magical
It opens up new worlds
Calling mankind to the very
Heights and limits of our accomplishment
Lending us the strength to do more
Than we can imagine
Is possible
Language

I am grateful:

1.   There are antibiotics.
2.   I was able to get some Christmas presents for Mom.
3.   Mom liked the two shirts and cup that I gave her.
4.   I got a new Droid phone (which may be too complicated for me to understand) and can retire my poor BlackBerry.
5.   Alex got to Douglasville safely.

I am still recovering from my bronchitis, but I had a fantastic Monday. I hope your day was equally wonderful. I have made the effort to work creatively and so should you. There is no reason you cannot make something great to share with the world. Just make the effort and see what you can accomplish.

As a prompt, write about language. I mused over this all afternoon without benefit of an instrument to record my thoughts. You can write a poem, story, or journal entry while you are sitting down. I encourage you to explore the world of words.

I am so glad you took the time to visit my blog. If you have thoughts, suggestions, or criticism, please leave a comment. I hope you enjoyed my entry today and encourage you to follow Chronicles for daily updates.

Today’s poem is in answer to The Sunday Whirl. If you need inspiration please visit that site.

Entreaties

All desire does not
Find me forlorn, but I wax
Eloquent about
Each drive I slake in rough-
hewn
Poems wrought by manic work.

I am doubly blessed
By creativity and
Rapt dedication
To making verses that sing
On magnificent pages.

I sand my words on
The harsh tongues that clash then fuse
In an affair which
Meets at the fork of my own
Ambitious conversation.

I embrace each line
I write with great devotion
Bringing them softly
To the open attention
Of people who read along.

I celebrate life
In the verses I capture
For entertainment
Of those who peruse the words
I place before their vision.

1.   I was able to catch some extra sleep this morning.
2.   Alex and I have talked via Voxer quite a lot today.
3.   We have a washer and dryer to take care of our clothes.
4.   We have a microwave that allows us to cook and warm food quickly.
5.   My printer still works after four years.

I have had a wonderful Sunday and I hope your day was just as good. Now devote yourself to working creatively for a while. If you do not capture your thoughts in a lasting form you cannot share them with others.

As a prompt, write about writing or writers. You might find you have a great deal you want to say. Writing always seems to be an inexhaustible subject for me. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

The following poem answers the prompt at Poetic Asides. If you need a prod to get your imagination working visit that site.

Galaxies Revolve

The stars spread above
In the awesome Milky Way
Lighting up the night
In its infinite beauty
Impressing each one of us.

God the Creator
Placed each star in its orbit
Like a spill of milk
Stretching across the blackness
Of the night’s deep velvet veil.

We are each much like
Those random stars set within
Myriad galaxies
Shining out creatively
In radiant multitudes.

The milk of human
Kindness oozes out of us
Spreading wide over
The universe of people who
Inhabit our earthly realm.

We are such bright stars
Set in the grand firmament
Shining Milky Way
Spreading our brightness throughout
Humanity’s darkest night.
