The following poem evolved into a revelation of personal truth. It tells a story and I hope you like it.

Where Memory Leads

He does not know, and
I suppose that is better,
I thought of him once
Again today, as happens
Often when I am alone.

I really should not
Let him linger taking space
Within my thoughts, but
Occasionally I miss
Him still, though I ought not.

He moved on, and so
Did I, but his memory
Haunts me at times when
Loneliness overtakes me
With its cruel clutching claws.

I am prisoner
Of the love we shared in days
That still glow brighter
Than they have permission to
Within my wayward conscious.

He was always much
Better in my brain than in
Reality, so
I will just compare the truth
With the image and forget.

It was my success
Which imposed a golden hue,
For I was doing
So much better then than now,
Money flowed without restraint.

I made those times my
Own perfect fairytale days
Because I was on
Top of the world with reason:
My grand outstanding efforts.

That experience
Can be mine once again if
I will only try
And go beyond the edges
Of my dissatisfaction.

I am grateful:

1.   I was once a publisher in my own right.
2.   I have the ability to do that work again if I so choose.
3.   I have the equipment to do most processes.
4.   I have the software to complete many vital tasks.
5.   I can usually accomplish what I set out to do.

My Saturday went very well. I hope your day was filled with smiles. Now I want to encourage you to lay aside your other concerns and make an effort to do some creative work. You have a vivid imagination and that is all required to make something wonderful.

As a prompt, write about a personal truth that you rarely reveal to yourself or others. You might do this in a poem, as I did, or you could write a story or journal entry. If you use this prompt, leave a link to your work in the comments below. I would love to read what you create.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I hope you enjoyed your stay and will come back often. If you have comments to share don’t hesitate to leave them below.

Always,
Jo Ann

I actually wrote the following poem on Monday and had already posted my blog, then I forgot to post it yesterday. So I hope you enjoy it.

Unsung Heroes

They’re the ones who stand
Backstage, out of the spotlight,
With quiet support
For every flamboyant act
Performed before the rapt crowd.

They’re the ones who say
Constant prayers for those who brave
Terrible dangers,
A hot line to God’s power
Is kept open by their pleas.

They’re the ones seldom
Wanting any credit for
The sacrifice they
Ever so willingly make
To keep everyone else safe.

They’re the ones who will
Never mention quitting in
The face of defeat,
They have hope and faith to keep
On fighting despite the odds.

They’re the ones who don’t
Voice their doubts in the hearing
Of others who might
Then lose heart, they continue
Believing to the finish.

They’re the ones who make
Other lives worth living with
Their dedication
To lifting up their fellows
Helping them their tasks complete.

Today’s poem, which is actually a rap song, follows:

Nonsensical Rhythm

Ooo la la…
Di op, dippity, whop, do…
That’s how it goes
When I am trying
To think of a song
To make into a poem
To write for me and you.

Ooo la la…
Di op, dippity, whop, do…
I got the music
In me and want to
Get the music inside
Of you too, so I keep
Writing until I do.

Ooo la la…
Di op, dippity, whop, do…
It does not make a lot
Of sense, but it is not
Necessary that it does,
It just has to reach out
And grab ahold of you.

Ooo la la…
Di op, dippity, whop, do…
Get yourself up,
Jump, shout, and move,
Sing out the song
I’m sharing with you,
Making it a part of you.

Ooo la la…
Di op, dippity, whop, do…
That’s how it goes
When I am trying
To think of a song
To make into a poem
To write for me and you.

I had a stressful Wednesday, but it turned out alright. I hope you had a blissfully happy day. Now do as I have done and let your creativity loose to make something that can enrich your life and those of your readers. I know that you can do wonderful things if you only make an effort.

As a prompt, write a rap that begins with some nonsensical words in rhythm. I had never done this before today, but I quite enjoyed it and suspect you will too. Should you use this prompt, leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog. I hope you found encouragement in it. Come back often, but you might also want to enter your email address in the space provided above and subscribe to Chronicles. If you have thoughts, suggestions, or criticism to share with me, please leave a comment.

A poem instead of a journal entry:

The following poem was prompted by The Sunday Whirl. The wordle there contained the words in italics. If you need inspiration you should visit that site.

Easy Verses

Plain speaking poems
Jar the mind fully awake,
Never forgotten
Across yesterday, today,
In a hurry, tomorrow.

The poem, a tree
Stirred, its roots linger in sand
Of the beloved
Country, wound around and round
Disguised as something special.

Plain speaking poems
Framed by minds awakened to
The English language
From time of understanding
Until thought’s smooth expression.

The poem freely tells
Story of experience
Travelling inside
Imagination’s delight
At its creativity.

Plain speaking poems
Brought to life beautifully
Spreading happiness
Throughout every existence
In past, present, and future.

In Utmost Gratitude

Grateful
For the faithful
Prayers which have been lifted
Over my mother’s condition…
I believe those words were most effective
And have perhaps helped allow her
More time with family;
I need her here…

Be Yourself

Dare to
Be different,
Be an original.
Stand out from the rest of the crowd,
Because God made you to be exactly
Who you are both inside and out,
You are created in
His own image…
Yourself

I am grateful:

1.   Although I ignored my alarm awhile, Mom called me and I got up before she left this morning.
2.   I wrote up the list of contest winners for the webpage, and separately typed them up for email.

4.   Mom brought me an excellent lunch and chocolate éclairs.
5.   I did some editorial work that I hope proves acceptable.

Mine was a working Saturday, but I hope you had time to relax. If you have not already created something to share with the world, I encourage you to do it now. There is no time like the present to exercise your imagination. You can brighten and/or enlighten someone’s life with your creativity.

As a prompt, write a poem, story, or journal entry of encouragement to yourself and others. Preferably write it in the second person, but if you rather use the first person that is fine as well. Just write and come back to edit later. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I hope you found your sojourn here enjoyable. Please come back frequently, and if you would like updates by email, subscribe to Chronicles. If you have thoughts, suggestions, or criticism to share, please leave a comment.

I returned to The Sunday Whirl for a prompt today. The words in italics were given on that site. If you need a bit of inspiration visit the wordle there.

No Excuses

Can I go straight to
The sweet spot again or is
There something I wish
To prove in interest of
Enlightenment without fuss?

I figure enough
Miserable time has passed
Almost everyone
Agrees I cannot go bust
With happier suggestions.

I have great ideas
Of what can be achieved by
Each of us tapping
Into creativity
Residing within our souls.

We are all without
Limit if we only have
A little more faith
In God’s ample provision
Of universal freedom.

Our heads and hearts are
Filled with imagination
That urges us to
Begin working toward our
Own lofty aspirations.

Perspiration

Inspiration is
An indubitable gift,
God given blessing,
But it is not required to
Perform the writer’s great work.

Creativity
Stirs within everyone’s soul,
It must be applied
With sublime dedication
Producing entrancing lines.

Believing one can
Accomplish many worthy
Goals leads to success,
Overwhelming happiness,
And highest public regard.

Each person achieves
Whatever their desires make
Manifest in life,
Writing is valuable-
A wonderful craft and art.

Technological Penitent Prayer

Computers can be
An intricate mystery
Serving us quite well
And with almost no complaint
Until they suddenly stop.

Our world is then thrown
Into depths of confusion
We cannot escape
Without the aid of gurus
Who guard their expert knowledge.

We mere mortals are
At mercy of specialists
Who we but seldom
Understand and only hope
Will repair our dear machines.

When programs rebel
Leaving us in quandary
We must consult those
Who can rectify all our
Diverse computer problems.

We beseech every
One of those authorities
To exhibit grace
Toward those of us who need
Their generous assistance.

I used the prompt at Carry On Tuesday to help me develop the following poem. If you need something to spark your imagination, please visit that site.

Life’s Secret

Life is a song – sing it.
Make a joyful noise unto
The Lord who watches
Over you every moment,
Blessing you through His goodness.

Life is a game – play it.
Have fun, laugh, make the best of
Every single hour
Allowing yourself to play
Even if you should not win.

Life is a challenge – meet it.
Do your very best at all
The things given you
To accomplish in your life,
Never, ever, once give up.

Life is a dream – realize it.
You have so much talent and
So many great gifts
Your aspirations can come
True if you believe in them.

Life is a sacrifice – offer it.
There will always be problems
To be overcome
And you may have to give more
Than you ever expected.

Life is love – enjoy it.
You have opportunities
To find happiness
In each day on which the sun
Rises with you still living.
