365 Creativity Project-Day 145

Journal entry:

Journal 6-2-20120001

I was reading about repetition in poetry and poems by some poets who had committed suicide. The ideas coalesced into the following poem. I like that it developed in rhyme, even though there is no formal scheme to the rhymes. It was not exactly prompted, more like inspired…

May They Rest, Blessed

Tell me please
That all these
Who were among
The best of us
But died so young
By own hands slain
Did not die in vain.

For I wonder
At their voices
And I ponder
That their choices
Left the world
So much bleaker
And us so much weaker.

Their facility
Such talented ability
To weave such art
Should not have
So quickly depart
Leaving us no salve
To mend our souls.

God bless them
And gather them
To His breast
In sweet congress
To create for Him
Some sweet hymn
Or glorious work of art.

April PAD Challenge, poem two:

Unwanted Visitor

It is ever present
Only a heartbeat
Away from everyone,
But only visits once.

It comes stealthily,
Unwelcome, uninvited,
Bringing discomfort
For all it touches.

It takes the good,
The evil, without judging
Anyone’s virtue or merit
It has no feeling anyway.

It is the great leveler
Making all lives equal
With its faithful stroke,
Death, life’s final visitor.

My poem for today:

Fitful Communication

Weeks go by with no word,
But I know he is there
On his side of the world
Doing his best without complaint.

We are connected despite
The distance separating us.
The internet gives a way
To share our little triumphs.

He says he is almost twenty four,
He has a wife, and things are
Different now, but I am still
His mother, loving him completely.

He is busy, tired, overworked,
I am available, willing, ready,
Whenever he can make the time
For us to share communication.

A few moments of messaging
With him multi-tasking makes
My day worthwhile because
More than anything, I love him.
