April Poem A Day Challenge, poem thirty:

Common Plight

Our days slip softly
By, making little lasting
Mark upon the world.
We are not mighty, famous,
Our steps leave no impression.

Our voices whisper
On the passing wind currents
Pushed toward silence.
Few hear our exclamations
Or heed our well-meant advice.

Our lives are vapor
Rising up from the soil for
Only a short while.
We go into the darkness
Of oblivion far too fast.

Our hope is in God
For He redeems existence
Making it worthwhile;
Without His enormous help
We quietly fade away.

The Dead Path… an extremely entertaining horror novel. I recommend this one.

I am grateful:

1.   I did not have to go out today.
2.   I completed the PAD Challenge and have thirty new poems.
3.   Mom is coughing very little.
4.   I am considering starting a page on Facebook for my writing and artwork.
5.   My blog has gained a few followers.

Monday, Monday, not my favorite day, but I hope yours has been productive. I know I say it every day, and yet the message should not get old. You need to do something creative to feed your soul.

Please leave a comment and let me know what you think of today’s entry. Your feedback helps me immensely.

Always,
Jo Ann

April Poem A Day Challenge, poem twenty-six:

Hope

I was so lonely,
My son was gone far away,
Sadness dogged my days;
Then one Sunday after church
My life was drastically changed.

Wal-Mart’s parking lot
Held the sweet surprise needed
To bring me bright smiles;
Shih Tzu puppies were on sale
And one captured my whole heart.

Mom and I went in
The store to shop, but I was
Caught in intense thought;
I decided I could not
Quite afford a puppy dog.

When we went outside
Mom suggested that I should
Get the little pup;
She convinced me it was right
So I bought the pretty girl.

On the way back home
We discussed giving her an
Appropriate name;
Mom suggested Hope because
She would need it to survive.

Hope became her name
And every day she has brought
Brightness to my life;
She is my sweet companion
Bringing me great happiness.

Hope lounging on the table… Ah, yeah, I know dogs don’t belong on tables, but she is so cute.

I am grateful:

1.   I am taking Mom to the doctor tomorrow.
2.   I have the honor of working with one of my friends on his manuscript.
3.   My dog, Hope, is such a blessing to me.
4.   Mom enjoyed the supper I cooked.
5.   The April Platform Challenge for today is easily done.

I hope you have had a good Thursday. If you can do something creative now. Every day you should exercise your talents.

I hope you enjoy my blog. If so, please subscribe or come back often and by all means leave me a comment.

Always,
Jo Ann

April Poem A Day Challenge, poem twenty-four:

More Wasted Words

I know I should not
Write about you once again
Because you are gone,
But when I think of loving
You always come to my mind.

I do not love you
In the way of fresh lovers,
But my heart remains
Entangled in the idea
Of you, though you are absent.

I sincerely wish
There were someone else brand new
Filling emptiness
You left in my heart and life,
But no one appears to start.

Perhaps the fault is
All mine for so vividly
Remembering us.
Maybe I need to excise
The thought of you from my mind.

So once again you
Captured my full attention
Even though I know
You will never read my lines;
Get behind me, you bastard.

I am grateful:

1.   I took a shower and it helped me wake up.
2.   I went to town and back safely.
3.   I use the BlackBerry to keep my shopping list.
4.   I like the poem I wrote today.
5.   I have a few ideas for new creations.

Tuesday has been a very full day for me. I hope you accomplished what you wanted to get done. Take some time to create something. The PAD Challenge for today was a love poem or anti-love poem. I am sure you can write one of those.

Always,
Jo Ann

Pound Cake

A sweet treat
I love to eat,
But something I can
Hardly understand
Is how it surrounds
My waist with pounds.
I guess that is why
They made a try
To warn of pain
With an proper name.

I am grateful:

1.   I have completed 100 days of this creativity project.
2.   My SoundDock shipped.
3.   I have the case from my original SoundDock, so I did not have to order one.
4.   Sherry’s father is doing well.
5.   It rained during the night.

Wednesday is the mid-point of the week, so if you have not already completed something creative this week you have a couple of days left to do it. Write a poem, story, essay, journal entry, draw something, paint, take some photographs, or do something else you consider creative. It is not really difficult if you apply yourself.

Always,
Jo Ann

April PAD Challenge, poem 5:

The One I Praise

Prophets of God foretold
His coming. Born of the Father
And an innocent virgin. Hunted,
But protected to grow in wisdom.
He became a man who called
Disciples to follow and witness.
He healed the blind, lame, deaf,
Possessed, and any other who
Came with even little faith.
He was hated by many who
Misunderstood Him as they
Had the Father before Him.
They tried Him, and though
He did no crime they found
Him guilty, and called for His death.
They crucified Him, and the Son
Of God died upon a cruel cross.
He was buried, hidden in a tomb,
But death could not hold Him.
Jesus rose and appeared to many,
Then the Father received Him
Into Heaven where He waits
To return and gather His children
Home to spend eternity in
Heaven with Him.
If you do not know Him personally
Become His friend and join the
Saints who will live with Him forever.

365 Creativity Project–Day Seventeen

A poem, a picture, and a journal entry:

Journal 1-26-20120001

Journal 1-26-20120002

Today is Thursday so it is gratitude list day.

I am thankful:

1.   Mom is feeling better today after being quite sick last night.
2.   The dogs were groomed yesterday.
3.   Some people are following my creativity project.
4.   Alex and I were able to communicate a while today.
5.   I have read five books so far this year.
6.   When my old laptop suddenly stopped working last night it was only because the power cord was disconnected and the battery dead.
7.   Penny is doing well despite congestive heart failure.
8.   I still have some money left and it is near the end of the month.
9.   I have internet access and a working laptop.
10.  I have a comfortable bed in which to sleep.

I am hoping to draw something for tomorrow. Drawing seems to be harder for me than creatively writing or taking photographs. I think I am less sure of my skill, especially with the Wacom tablet. This project is not to do things perfectly, but to make some creative effort daily. I made it intentionally broad in category so that any effort counts. I am pleased that I am still doing this project.

I hope your day brings you some inspiration that you can turn into a work of creativity.

Always,
Jo Ann

I hope you will remember although forgiving others is hard it brings great benefits to you. When you forgive you let go of bitterness that eats away at you. Love is what we are designed to share and that does not mean abandoning others, it means living in relationship. People are not perfect, but we can respond to those in our life with generosity and love.

May you find energy to create something of beauty.

Always,
Jo Ann
