I used the prompt from Three Word Wednesday to help inspire the following poem. I hope you will visit that site.

Debt Of Love

It is not duty
Making me do what I do;
The element of
Responsibility does
Exist, but love spurs me on.

No open banter
Can dissuade me from doing
What is really right;
I am fully encouraged
To continue on my path.

I give part of my
Life over to accomplish
What must still be done;
I made a promise to do
All I can and surely will.

I am grateful:

1.   I woke up fairly early and felt well rested.
2.   The package was suitably done for mailing and I had cash to pay for it.
3.   My contact reset itself without too much trouble when it was hurting me.
4.   I found a beautiful portfolio on sale.
5.   Sam’s Club had No Easy Day by Mark Owen and I was able to buy it.

I hope you had a pleasant Thursday. I know you may not be very inspired, but I urge you to use your creativity to make something lasting. It need not be a big thing, even a few lines are worthwhile.

As a prompt, write about something you do simply out of love or create an image celebrating it. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Today’s poem answers the prompt at Poetic Asides. You might want to visit that blog for inspiration.

Unwelcome Memory

It is not that I
Want to remember, because
I try forgetting,
But even after all this
You remain inside my heart.

My memory plays
The moments of our romance
Back to me often,
Making me wish to expunge
Those times totally from mind.

You are not any
Longer the hero my heart
Desires every day,
You have moved beyond my reach
And I am fully content.

Somehow memory
Has not gotten the message,
You are not special
In any way, anymore,
For your image still haunts me.

I do remember,
But I work quite earnestly
At my forgetting
Because I do not need you
Lingering in my present.

Journal 9-4-20120001

I used the prompt from Carry On Tuesday to help spark my imagination with the following poem.

Reborn

Once upon a time
There was happiness with you,
But that time has passed
And I am left quite alone,
Yet I am not so lonely.

I have found good life
Is not necessarily
Made up of romance;
There are many fulfilling
Pastimes and people besides.

There is happiness
In being of some service
To others in need;
There is reward in using
Endless creativity.

I wait patiently
For someone new to appear
Filling emptiness
Your absence has left behind,
But I am not unhappy.

Once upon a time
I believed my heart broken,
But I understand
My life can be completely
Full without your presence now.

The prompt at Trifecta provided a word to build on. I hope you will enjoy the poem.

True Happiness

Happiness is not
Always an absence of pain;
Oftentimes we learn
To find joy despite all our
Suffering, if we are wise.

The littlest things
Can brighten up our dark days
When we take the time
To consider fortunate
The gifts of every moment.

God never promised
All endeavors would prosper,
But He has told us
He would be present in all
Our struggles to comfort us.

Our happiness is
Dependent on attitudes
We can cultivate
Like our honest gratitude
And sweet generosity.

We can be happy
In all our circumstances
If we remember
Jesus constantly watches
Over and does assist us.

I am grateful:

1.   I slept extremely well after over thirty-six hours awake.
2.   I cooked a great lunch for Mom and I.
3.   I recommended that Mom take her vitamins with lunch, when she eats more than breakfast, because I think they could be what is making her nauseous. Today she did it and she was not nauseous. Maybe it will help beyond today.
4.   On Facebook I shared the classes I am taking on
Coursera and a few people signed up for classes.
5.   I called my friend Bernice and we talked a while.

Happy Labor Day! I hope you have had some time to relax and enjoy the fruit of your labors. Now I encourage you to do the work of creating. It is not so much work as an intense pleasure to exercise your imagination.

As a prompt today, write about the truth. You could express a truth, write about what truth means, or approach it differently. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

The poem below is in answer to today’s prompt at The Sunday Whirl. The words from that site are in italics. I hope you will visit there if you need a creativity boost.

Small Miracle

There must have been nine
Angels dressed in pearly white
Or some large number
Watching over me last night,
Because evidence is clear.

I could not refresh
Myself in peaceful sleep, but
Had my heart laid bare,
My mind was so gassed up with
Caffeine it was in high gear.

Somehow a smooth shift
In perception did occur,
And in the final
Hours before the breaking dawn
I chose to ready myself.

Services started
Well before nine this morning,
But I was at church
Anticipating Sunday
School without any complaint.

Surely evidence
God had His hand guiding me
Throughout the final
Hours of the swift passing night
So I would refresh my soul.

I am grateful:

1.   I took a shower during the night and got dressed in anticipation of going to church.
2.   I left in time to get a good parking place.
3.   I visited with some of the church family I had not seen in some time.
4.   I was able to participate in the Sunday School Class discussion.
5.   I bought enough drinks for a while at Wal-Mart.
6.   I hand washed some clothes Mom had messed up before putting them in the washer.
7.   I got home in time to fix Mom’s lunch.
8.   Even though my mind was boggled by the wordle, I came up with a poem.
9.   My shoulder is not hurting too bad.
10.  I got some pictures at church.

I hope your Sunday has been glorious. I have enjoyed mine immensely, though I am a bit exhausted. I hope you will make time to exercise your creativity. I know it is not always easy, but the effort is worthwhile. You just have to make use of the opportunity to the best of your ability.

Butterfly

I flutter here, there,
And everywhere, crisscrossing,
Weaving patterns in
The air no one can discern;
Only God understands them.

I add vibrancy,
A touch of brilliant color
Wherever I go;
Drawing all eyes to my wings
So evanescent, yet bold.

I am very small,
A temporary pleasure
Given a few hours
Of grace upon the currents
Of sweet air above the earth.

365 Creativity Project-Day 235

When you try to think of something about which to write and some lines occur to you out of the blue, there is nothing to do, but write the song that has come to you.

Journal 8-31-20120001

The first poem I wrote today was a bit harder to create:

Historic Legacy

Even you may think
I am like a dinosaur
Because I hang on
To the social niceties
Of the many storied past.

There is, however,
A reason I cling to these
Simplistic actions;
They tend to make my days go
Smoother than without their use.

Being kind may be
Out of fashion, but I find
It helps me deal with
The problems that do arise
With less troubled contention.

I respect others
Because I was raised that way,
And I want respect;
This may seem an obsolete
Attitude, but it serves me.

I do not really
Mind being a dinosaur;
There are many parts
Of the past which are well worth
Emulating in our time.

I did something a little different today, instead of a normal journal entry, I used the prompt from Poets United. I think you might find some inspiration there as well, so visit the site.

Journal 8-30-20120001

The following poem uses the words: affair, expectation, and free, which I found at Three Word Wednesday. I occasionally visit that site when I need a creative spark. You might find it useful too.

Stirrings Of The Heart

I am totally
Free of expectation for
The ongoing days,
But I would be quite happy
To engage in an affair.

I would love being
Part of a joyous couple
Exploring limits
Of our creativity
In nourishing each other.

We could devise new
Methods of bringing pleasure
Through a simple touch
And share delightful kisses
Making us reel like drunkards.

I open myself
To the possibility
That you will arrive
Enlivening my moments
With your gentle caresses.

Yes, I am quite free
Of any expectation
For the coming days,
But I would so happily
Engage in a love affair.

Today’s poem is in answer to the prompt at Poetic Asides. You might want to visit the site for inspiration.

Special Meeting

My appointment is
Overdue to meet with you,
But I wait patient
Knowing a perfect moment
Will bring you into my life.

I occupy hours
With many worthwhile pursuits,
Keeping so busy
I do not much resent your
Absence from my every day.

Love must never be
Rushed, it must come in its own
Perfect season to
Catch me unaware and bring
Brightness to each part of life.

My days are often
Spent in dreaming, but love will
Surprise and excite
With its sudden appearance,
Clearing all my doubts away.

Our appointment is
Set at precisely the time
To most astonish
And delight both you and I
With the love we have to share.

My poem today was prompted by Carry On Tuesday and my conversation with Linda. If you need some inspiration you should visit that site.

Midway In Life’s Journey

I have concluded
That I cannot please others
In all things I do;
My opinions, my beliefs,
Are only mine to decide.

I must never sit
In judgment over others,
And am myself free
To make my own decisions
Living just as I so choose.

I live aspiring
To finally reach Heaven,
Assured I will go
There because Jesus saved me
Paying all price for my sin.

I can rest secure
Because no other person
Can decree my fate;
My choices are surely mine
To make, without a question.

I traverse my way
Midway in life’s journey to
The places I want
To travel with certainty
That my life is going well.
