Creativity Project Year Two-Day 18

I gave a friend of mine a prompt, and then decided I would use it as well:

Journal 1-26-20130001

DSC_0363

I used the prompt at Wordsmith Studio to help generate the following poem:

An Absolute Moment

I reckon I should
Have known better than to bring
It up, but maybe
I was just running my mouth
Without much actual thought.

I deserved the jab
I suppose, despite attempts
To explain myself,
She said I should be able
To rise early once a week.

Sunday morning is
A time I hardly ever
Manage to awake
Before missing Sunday School,
She said I should try harder.

My excuses did
Not mean anything to her
And her opinion
Should really have no meaning
To me, yet I find it does.

Maybe I will get
Myself up again before
The breaking of dawn
So I can once more attend
My church on Sunday morning.

As a prompt, incorporate some or all of the phrase- He wished he loved her as much as the dog did…- into your poem, story, or journal entry. I know this prompt has already helped generate two stories, so it might also help you. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

There are
Both winners and
Losers, but at least they
All have the courage to compete
In the game, therefore they are worthy of
Respect no matter where they end
Up, life’s challenges are
Quite difficult,
Just try

Perspiration

Inspiration is
An indubitable gift,
God given blessing,
But it is not required to
Perform the writer’s great work.

Creativity
Stirs within everyone’s soul,
It must be applied
With sublime dedication
Producing entrancing lines.

Believing one can
Accomplish many worthy
Goals leads to success,
Overwhelming happiness,
And highest public regard.

Each person achieves
Whatever their desires make
Manifest in life,
Writing is valuable-
A wonderful craft and art.

Color
Me red and see
Me rise above every
Circumstance that besets my life
Color me blue and see me fall into
Moods of deepest darkest despair
Color me green and see
Me soar beyond

Intricacy

Sometimes I wonder
How things have come to be as
They exist today,
We started out with so much
Less than we have presently.

People are growing
In greater complexity
With each passing day,
Aided by technology
That advances very fast.

Would those who lived just
One hundred years ago be
Totally surprised
By who we have now become
And the magic we perform?

Some days I even
Find myself almost amazed
By accomplishments
I am able to make with
Computer technology.

As a prompt, write about how mood effects your creativity. Do you let your mood keep you from creating or do you work in spite of your feelings? When you are happy are you more imaginative or is it in somber moods when you create more? Write a poem, story, journal entry, or note to elaborate on later. If you use this prompt, please leave a link to your work in the comments below.

Completion

I can,
I know this to
Be true if I simply
Make a constant effort toward
All accomplishments I wish to achieve.
The purpose of my whole life is
Contained within certain
Moments when I
Succeed.

Incredible Responsibility

I never needed
To ask anyone for help
Because she always
Took care of all my problems
With complete dedication.

Now the tables have
Turned and I am left in charge
Of her total care,
I feel quite inadequate
To take care of everything.

I promised brother
I would do my very best
And fully intend
To do so, but I am quite
Overwhelmed by her great need.

I pray God be with
Me every step of the way,
Guiding my hands, heart,
Mind, and soul, directing me
In all the things I should do.

Poetic Purpose

Against
All odds we try
To accomplish our best
Making something out of nothing
Stringing all our sentences together
Marching nimble words across each
Page so creatively
We surprise all
Others

Meandering Thoughts

Wondering,
Wandering mind,
Wide ranging over
A variety of things
Leading in directions
That are new, different
Taking me to places never
Known, never experienced
In the totality of my life.
If I open my heart, soul,
To explore challenges
I have not faced in
Times before now
I can accomplish
Things beyond
My wildest
Dreams.
